Made it to a level 10 Bounty hunter. Thats all i could take.
Questing simply got repetitive. Didn't help the environments were lifeless and dull. So dam quiet everywhere! Mobs are static in 3's. And quick respawn got on my nerves. Got a shuttle to the imperial fleet. Couldn't believe how quiet this 'supposed' main social hub was. Everywhere was just dead.
I salute you guys who made it to 50. I haven't the willpower to subject myself to this.
Annoys me that there was so much potential for a great interactive Star Wars Universe. After 7 years of development and they produce this???? I'll quote John Macenroe 'You cannot be serious.'

I would say that generally is the question.
The critisims about the lifeless world, the quiet and the AI seems to be rather common. I would be surprised to hear that this was never brought up during the short beta testing they did. It seems that was dismissed or ignored by BW for some reason.
Also, I think the market has demonstrated how it reacts to lifeless worlds and AI, so again, not sure why BW went head long into that direction.
Oh but they are serious.
And apparently 1.7 million " active subscribers" love it. According to the PR spin at least.
This phenomenon is pretty much everywhere. Hence the huge success of Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and the ongoing growth and success of McDonalds.
But as long as people like it and continue to pay for it then they will keep making it. Capitalism, free market and all that.
I wrapped my copy of TOR in Bacon and threw it and my dog went to pick it up, he stopped sniffed it for a sec or two and then hiked his leg and pissed on it. Who says , animals aren't getting smarter.
Plus the promise that 1.2 is the miracle patch is not accurate. I have 12 days left on my sub and I decided to see the new stuff on the test server to see if it would make the game any better and worth resubbing. After playing the first 10 levels with the new patch...the only difference was I can sprint from level 1 and I can move the UI around and enable target of target....it still felt the same and bored me to tears.
Until the combat, enemy AI(that clumps of 3 mobs stuff is accurate and stays that way up to 50) and dead world feel is changed, this game will still not be worth the monthly sub and 1.2 is NOT the patch everyone thought it would be.
On a hunch i decided to check out you post history. Every post you have made in the last 4 months with the exception of 3 were bashing SWTOR. Thats fine of course but what worries me is that you seem to have completely forgotten the beta you took part in and presumably playing it post launch too as your posts try to make out.
Post history is a bitch huh.
yea, game is gonna tank when GW2 drops
My mate and me got the 7 day trial as well. We take the game as what it is - a co-op RPG. And since we are playing it as that, always duoing everything, we are actually having fun.
I have to admit, I also tried the 7 day trial and prettyy much found it blah....
I tried my ass of to stay playing but it just has no pull whatsoever for me. But this game never really caught my attention, to start Im not a big SW fan or a scify fan for that matter. But I at least wanted to get a companion or try some pvp, but the world seems wayyyyyyyy too staged and it was completely empty.
I really am at my end with Themepark MMOs. I have a lifetime sub with LoTRO and i can't stand playing it. So damn boring.
I really wanted to like SWTOR, i gave it all the benefit of the doubt i could muster but its just plain BORING.
I think i really hate the gear grind more than anything else now in MMOs, (which is a main mechanic in themeparks) I do have high hopes for GW2 because of the DEs and the WvW, but i am leary about it beng too themeparky.
Anywhom maybe SWTOR can pull its ass from the fire but i don't see it happening.
Lolipops !
It's simply amazing how many opinions you can have on a game you literally played for 2 hours tops.
Just a tip: No matter how much you want to feel important, no one cares about your opinion on a game you have no experience with.
The game isn't that bad, it took me a month to get a max and 2 level 30 ish characters... There just wasn't anything else then the mainstories to keep me playing. But the game is not more repetitive then any other tabtargetting button clicking MMO.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
You cared enough to comment on it.
This. My wife and I play this game together. Neither of us solo squat. It is a fun game as a coop rpg, but it does lack a lot of MMORPG feel, I have to admit. I will enjoy it until I don't, then move on to something else.
I care about their opinion more then yours that feels certain opinions don't matter.
Their issue is lack of sounds (presumably background) does that change later on?
When a user hits lvl 11 is there a new global chat channel that everyone uses at the main player hubs?
"You cannot be serious?"
That pretty much sums up my time in SWTORS from level 20-50. Once I got to 20 or so I just was starting to have my jaw dropped at how bad the game was. I simply couldnt believe it.
I was told by several guildies that I was complaining too much....so I quit when the 30 days was up. How people can continue to play this game is beyond me but more power to them.
I'm glad at least some people are enjoying it I just don't understand how.
Different people like different things. I know that idea is hard to grasp for some people on this forum.
thats fine, but its not the problem here. the problem is BW/EA takes it as a full-fledged MMORPG and wants $15/month for the right to play it. its a single player game first and foremost, no need for a sub fee.
I fully agree with you. If you play this game with friends it's a nice way to kill time. Especially watching each other's storyline and commenting on it with a healthy dose of sarcasm and irony.
But it's no MMO and I don't want to pay a monthly AAA fee for this.
You just described 90% of every MMO out there. Good Job, Im sure this post was in no single way an instrument to jump on the bandwagon of people who continually dislike and hate on anything new that comes along.
I think it would do better if had been designed to be F2P.
The expectation would have been less, and odds are people would just take breaks, rather than completely writing off the game.
Great detective work there. You should join the CIA for coming to such a drastic conclusion relating to my post history. Strange you get worried over me hardly touching the beta. surely that is my choice? I'm simply saying what i feel about the game. Don't get so touchy about it.
And post history ain't a bitch huh

Bioware is just telling us what they plan to include/accomplish with the patch/update 1.2. The only ones calling it a "miracle" patch are fucking idiots.

Honestly I didn't enjoy the game but the issue is that it didn't fit my play style and I expected way too much out of the game (too much hype and not enough research on my behalf) I played it since beta, got 2 characters to level 50, sage and jugg. The progression when the game started was quick which was enjoyable since it wasn't a grind. My one real gripe was that money aka credits was way too easy to make with slicing. Whenever I could i would send out my companions and by the time I was level 50 I had over almost 3miilion credits including monies i gained from questing etc. It felt like I was cheating and obviously way too easy to supply me with whatever I needed on the AH which wasn't much.
Pvp was fun I did enjoy the WF, they required teams to use some strategy to play better. Some required killing enemies at the proper time so they wouldn't end up spawning at the next area too earlier etc, which was nice. The only thing I didn't enjoy about pvp was the end pvp grind and the random champion bag loot with duplicates (but i believe that got fixed). For myself I expected more open PVP but Illum as we all know was a disaster but can be fixed if they took the time and revisited it but I heard/read is being phased out.
Overall even though I didn't enjoy the game and I eventually cancelled my sub I still believe that Swtor achieved a good game, it might not be a good game for those who were expecting more but its a game that does offer a different experience in terms of story, visuals etc. Sure the mechanics and progression are similar to earlier mmos out there, it still gives new players and even old mmo players a chance to experience something different. For myself it didn't hit what I needed and the only person to blame is I. The best we as a community can do is give suggestions, and help SWTOR improve. As a game industry professional myself its very unproffesional to "bash" a game or product. Instead we will work together to improve the model, visuals, gameplay etc.
