Beta Invites Are Over

Master10KMaster10K Member Posts: 3,065

ArenaNet's Rubi just sent out a Tweet, saying that they are no longer sending out Invites for this weekend's Beta, which is understandable, seeing how it starts tomorrow. If you got in... Ssshhhh~ (NDA) image

"Okay guys, if you did not get a beta key by now, you will not be in the test this weekend. Thanks for being patient!" ~RB2

Now to wait for next week's flow of videos, to wash away the tainted forums that have been about nothing but the cash shop lately. It's getting boring. Well at least I can expect some good things fron MikeB, the only Press who knew how to PvP.

Ah, much more convenient using Twitter then your actual website off course.

Especially since EVERYONE uses it and is subscribed to Arenanet.

I've had it with developers posting stuff on fucking Twitter and Facebook instead of on their website.

    /end rant.

I guess they expect people like me to spread the word, but it would be nice if they posted this actual stuff on their main website, because right now that website is kind of useless.

Well I guess that it why they are redesigning it.

Well, at least I can provide living proof that being and extremely prolofic advocate of the game for almost a year and signing up for the beta in the first 30 seconds means absolutely nothing in the beta selection process! :)

Gratz to all those who got in. I can't wait for the first post pre-purchase beta weekend!

Welp, guess I'm playing some LoL this weekend. Not surprising though, I heard the odds were 1/100.

Just a reminder :) If you ARE accepted into the GW2 beta - please abide by the NDA and do not disclose the fact that you were chosen as a participant or any other details regarding the beta. Thanks!

I feel bad for some of you guys who are rejecting twitter.

I use it for gaming news only, I dont follow celebs, friends, family.. .just game news and youd be surprised how quickly news is divulged and how frequent.

I get the feeling most people think you get a bunch of "im eating toast" tweets throughout the day, but if you limit your account to strictly the games you enjoy, the developers etc you literally get a flow of fresh gaming news long before you see it on a website.  Not to mention, you also get a lot of one-on-one interaction with game developers and CSR's that you typically dont get on forums and its so much quicker.

Ive found lately that beta sign ups happen instantly on twitter and if you have the mobile device you get the tweet the moment the game developer posts it and its been happening on twitter before websites

I was reluctant at first too, but once I learned that this is the easiest and most mobile form of disseminating information it was a no brainer. posting updates via mobile devices from an office isnt always the easiest way to do things.  so updates are tweeted and eventually posted to a website when the admin gets the memo or on a forum when the community manager can get to a PC

    Party pooper!

Define disclose. As in, explicitly or implicitly or both?

    Fully agree.

Only because it became a trend to go on facebook and twitter and show or tell the world if you are currently in the bathroom and take a pee or if they just eat something (utterly stupid behaviour by many people and thats one of the many reasons I'm not using both and dislike them), it doesnt mean that everyone does.

Websites and Forums are there for exactly this purpose and they should be used to spread such news aswell.

Odd they would have an NDA.  What happened to the openness?

No NDA on the next weekend events, and the press are still nda less for this weekend. Pretty open imo.

No worries fellas, next month everybody who pre-purchases is getting in, just 1 more month to go before we all can play the game!! woot!

That seemed wierd to me though.  Why would Anet do that to themselves?  Have only 10,000 people in this months beta, when next month they are going to have at LEAST 1 million, because thats how many subscribed for the beta.  Going from 10k people to 1M people in 1 month is a tall order and a REAL stress test for their servers.

Would have been easier on themselves to have 2 beta tests this month, 10K for the first one earlier this month, and maybe 100K for the one at the end of the month.  Would better prepare them for the 1M flood of pepole who pre-purchase.
