If you don't like the game, then don't get it. It's really that simple.

I'm not sure why you would want other people to convince you that you would enjoy a game you're not into.

There is nothing that 'something special' waiting around the corner. I will buy the game but i don't do pre orders anymore.

As of now however, I have no will to buy it whatsoever.

I know there are a lot of fanboys of this game who are already going crazy about it and calling it the best thing since slice bread. Am I really the only one that is a bit skeptical still?

Maybe the game just isn´t for you?

Not all games fit all players and that is not so much about quality as personal preferance.

My tip is just that you ignore it for now but give it a trial at the free weekend before release, you have nothing to loose on that and you will at least get to see for yourself what the buzz is about and if you enjoy it or not.

A game can very well be the best thing since sliced bread for one player and not even worth downloading for another, it is not that strange.

Eh I spend too much money on steam games and MMOs already. What's another $60. The B2P nature of the game means that I can play at my own pace over time.

If it hooks me right away then great. If I play a few nights a month, then that's fine with me too.

What's interesting about this game to me from a consumer standpoint, is that it has a box price and also relies on cash shop for continued revenue stream. It's a different approach than most cash shop games, they rely on getting as many people in the game as possible tiger that small percentage of whales hooked on buying stuff.

I hope that model can take some of the burden of the cash shop as the sole source of income for the company, which could mean a less heavy focus on cash shop stuff over time.

Eh, we shall see. I am not sure how I feel about plopping down $60 on a game and then also getting hit up for microtransactions as well. Depends on what's in the shop I guess. I suppose it's not much different than paying $60 and then forking over a sub for eternity. It's more flexible at least.

    The horror!

Not going to matter in the first 1-2 weeks anyway - to sell gems

for ingame gold first you need someone who earned that amount of gold.

If you choose to skip that 1-2 weeks (just for the sake of selling gems) you

    are already in time disatvantage.

    Makes no sense IMO.

for me it isnt the problem that other people are faster then me m8 (i am just a casual player, maybe i need to pick my words even more carefull).

Just ripping one line out of my post is just sh*t, you only hear what you want to hear dont you.....maybe the part where they changed their statement about their game "sub" systeem could be included as wel.

imo it just isnt fair you let people buy gear instead letting them work for it.....

And plz reply once more to my post when the game is out and people that want to w vs w are b*tching about the gear ok?

We will talk again when that time has come and then tell me that buying your ingame items is ok...ok?

In gold wars 2 if you want to get anywhere you will have to buy like all the others to be able to compete with the top players.....like it or not.

ps: your statement that it doesnt matter the first two weeks = fail .....the game will last longer then 2 weeks we may think?

Anyways.....its just mho, maybe i am wrong, maybe not....we will see after the game come out and the W vs W start :) hehe

OP's Q is a bit of a poser. Tbh, it's less x1 "THE ONE", and more TIPPING POINT which was achieved long ago for GW2 for me.

But if boiled down Reductio Ad Finem: COMBAT = moment/movement to movement/moment fun.

As a very jaded MMO vet, I actually have been drooling over GW2s game design, on paper, for over a year now. As we've gotten closer to launch, we've seen just enough of the game in action that I believe they will actually pull most of it off in reality. Some people have a light bulb go off based on the implications of the games design and only remain cautious because of fears that this will just be another case of a game with lofty ideas and no follow through. However, I also realize that there are people who can read up on the design and just lack the ability or perspective to understand what makes this game's design so special with out actually experienceing the game themselves.

Arenanet's challenges don't end with solid design and actually follow through to realize their vision. They also have to:

    1. Get across to prospective players what they are doing, why they are doing it and why their way is better than cookie cutter MMO design.

    2. Help new players make the transition between playing MMOs "the old way" and learning to play GW2 "the new way".

    3. Keep players hooked long enough so that they can get over the initial learning curve and actually adapt to the new paradigm.

Arenanet realize that these challenges exist and have done a lot to try to address it, but based on some of the press beta experiences and comments, it's going to take a while for many people to "make the leap" and really "get the game".

I'm sure there will be "wash outs" during the opening days or even weeks, but the good thing is that with no subscription fee, those players can come back and give it another shot down the line if they have friends that stick with the game, get bored with other offerings, or arrive at some epiphany and realize that they were just approaching the game in the wrong way.

The game is different enough to get many jaded players interested, but that also means that it will be too different for some people, at least until they are able to adapt, if they are able to adapt.

Dont expect any more, because as i see it, what you have seen is the game(they have done a good job of showing their game). If you dont like that, well.. then dont buy/play it.

Btw. i will buy it as i bought Deux Ex 3(and just played it a hour or so), it is just a game, and what i have seen looks fun and interesting, i guess i will play it a lot more than Deux Ex 3 or other games i bought. But its your money, its your time investment, its your choice.

i do have some concerns with the game but i will still buy and play it. i have played for 5 years on GW1 and liked the way it was. i am tired of the current mmo market right now as its just like playing the same exact game just different graphics. though on april 10nth rolls around i will be one of the first people to gamestop in the morning as soon as it opens and will pre-purchase Guild Wars 2 collectors edition. my concerns will be answered when i get into the next beta after buying the game.

someone is reading my mind here O_o,

I really hope me and my GF can casually enjoy this game and that the both of us will really enjoy this game for what it has to offer. She's always been a vivid WoW player so im worried she might not get into the game at the start. She hasn't read up that much yet and most of it will be fresh for her when she joins in.

    So that will be quiet a culture shock for her. I hope she (we) adapt to those changes really quick :) I'd hate to play the game alone ;_;

I'm waiting for them to throw in the Ronco Veg-OMatic. You know it's a slicer, dicer, chopper, and looks great attached to an Engineers backpack?

6 months is a good amount of time. You could go out and buy this while waiting. http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/games/dragons-dogma/90839! It is suppose to be an awesome title coming out.  It will give you something to do by yourself and it's much cheaper than GW2....hold on a tic, it's the same fricken price as GW2!!

They should get that guy "Vince" from the vegtable chopper commercials to voice some weasly villain in the game. I see he is back selling a lint remover on television. He even makes fun of himself for being tossed in the Dade County Jail. Seems like he got in a scuffle with a prostitute. He would make a excellent Necro-type npc in the game.

Ballerinas are always on their toes. Why don't they just get taller ballerinas?

If you haven't seen something special about it now, you're never going to.  They aren't holding back the cure for cancer just to tantalize you.  But I think you know that already.  Which begs the question, if I can accept that you won't like the game, why the hell can't you?

wait until you get the chance to try it.

Its certainly different, exciting fun and challenging

  • Rhianni32Rhianni32 Member Posts: 222

If nothing even remotely interests you then what in the world could they be "holding back" on that could get you to play?

I don't think this game is for you. Thats not a cliche. Not every MMO is going to be for every player but luckily there are dozens if not hundreds of them out there.

  • keenberkeenber Member UncommonPosts: 438

Not alone i wont be playing it and all my friends and guild mates from 4 differant mmos only one said he is gonna try this.

The game play in this game is just like WoW gameplay and even in beta we found the communitie to allready suck. As for PvP cant really tell but every time we went PvPing it was in a gank squad and the whole experance reminded me of so many of the new mmos i played.

Graphics were great with little to no lag which is unsual for beta but i wont be playing this game unless i have a few weeks to kill and cant find anything better to do.

  • SanguinelustSanguinelust Member UncommonPosts: 812

I'll probably try it but not until it goes on sale somewhere for a good discount.

    edit

unless i get into beta, or they give out free weekends or something, and decide its a good game.

Good idea! You have only had 5 years to save up $60US what is another 5 years? lol This is the going price for any title right now.  I know some people have little money but I can't think of cheaper entertainement any where. My guess is it will come out in 2 to 3 months. If you set aside .66 cents a day, you should have no problem buying it. :)
