EverQuest II: Antonia Bayle found... In Las Vegas!

Sony Online Entertainment and Stuff Magazine announced the winner of their "Quest for Antonia" contest to be a young woman named Anna Wainscoat. Wainscoat, a California native describes her digital counterpart Bayle as "a heroine, who stands for independence, strength and beauty in women."

The resemblance is almost frightening. The new Ms. Bayle will recieve a $10,000 modeling contract as well as an appearance in an upcoming issue of Stuff and a one year subscription to that magazine.

It's all marketing, as I am sure you suspected Shae. It's called biggest bang for your buck. You tell me a better way to get this much interest for a lousy $10,000 modelling contract.

Well you completely missunderstood what I meant as your of course right, she's a very pretty girl and all the power to her for having won something that she obviously wanted. Whats gross is SOE having anything to do with this period, I have no problem with consenting adults (male or female) doing whatever it is they want, whether thats posing in Stuff magazine or buying said magazine.
But what I think (read as just simply my oppinion) is wrong is when this sort of very adult situation is pandered to a game that is T(een) rated, meaning anyone at or above the age of 14 can play, thus exposing young women (and men of course) to yet another form of false imagery, that is to me, for the lack of a better word, Gross to me.
Certainly it's not the popular oppinion, but it's mine, you certainly don't have to aggree with it.

I agree 100% with Shae, after 5 years of EQ, i quit my account sick of $OE and will never go back to any of their games after my miserable hiatus with EQ2 when it launched. I am a Sigil "fan" now, the original team of EQ devs makes their home here, as do I and cannot believe how low the "vision" EverQuest originally was, has sunk.

well its not porn, it my be a little Provocative but definitely not porn, anyway being naked isnt porn. porn is well Explicit visuals of other peoples sextual activities. shes a Beautiful girl and waht bugs me is that you call it false imagery. its not that is beauty jsut as much as what is on the in side the out side is equal. you say your all for equality right? and its not about the fact that shes sexy and posing its, as stated before about the fact that SOE is taking these people and using them in a ploy to get puplicity get people to play there game, that is whats sick to me.
Ive never realy cared about my sex habits or women when im playing a game, and in a Fantasy game why even place it in there want to see them just give the game a good feel to it not tring to Mainstream it, i think we need good game related nudity or sextual material make it positive not negitive, like this shit about covering every femine humonoid creatures nipples so kids can play, im sorry but i jsut dont like that

Well as tempted as I am to respond the lowest common denominator possible (read as not really), I would however like to say that if I were unattractive and or overweight at the very least I could could splash on some make-up and work out.
But with you, well... you will always be this ignorant and have a life time to enjoy your own funny little narrow mind. Given the choice between the two, I'd take unattractive and overweight any day

Shae, you should focus on real troubles, like drugs & alcool, smoking, drunk driving, news violence...next we will hear from you, I suppose you will complain against Video games or Movie violence, when in fact, movies and video games are not related to the troubles...they are FICTION, fun. News violence bring more violence, because you see someone, for real, killing peoples...this teach kids a bad lesson, I rather blame CNN news channel then Hollywood. Rocky movies didnt increase violence. News reports on tragedy did increase violence...a LOT! Moore is often wrong...but 1 of the main difference between Canada and USA, is what the news show us...we see the same movies, we have the same weapons, we are pretty much nearly identical...however our news talk about silly stuff, so peoples do silly stuff (like stealing money rather then killing their neighbors).

LOL, I just love it when a person takes one issue and turns it into 20 others. BTW your comparison of a lingerie catalog and the Everquest II girl, you can't compare the two. Correct me if I'm wrong, but SOE is not selling two piece fantasy clothes to it's customers, which is obviously what this girl is wearing. See, in a lingerie catalog, they are actually selling the clothes that those women are wearing, and when the women in the catalog look good, it makes the potential female customer more likely to buy the clothes. Here with SOE, they are simply trying out the whole "sex sells" theme, by trying to get more males into the game with some young attractive female. There is a clear difference my friend

Some peoples are pretty narrow minded...you need to make a reality check, you live in a world...and your little beliefs wont change what the world around you is. I also assume many of you where crying when J. Jackson show 1 boob in public, big deal. Reality check, there are tons of women near you, and such an accident can happen anyday, anytime, anywhere...and if you are going to cry, well, at least do it quietly with dignity.
There are SERIOUS issues in Canada and USA that needs to be adressed, and a simple contract between a cute little girl and a magazine is seriously not on the agenda of anyone serious about trying to improve the world. The Wars for exemple is such an issue, it take humans lifes away. The lack of healtcare for the poors is another such issue. The lack of funds in researchs is another such issue. The pollution is another issue. The very concept of cars is another such issue. How women willingly dress in a magazine is in no way a serious issue, and someone making a focus on this topic prolly have awfull sins to hide. If such magazine organise a contest to give a contract away, well, nobody needs to do the contest and even if you win it, you can still decline the reward...seeing that today in 3 States away west from here a maniac kill 15 persons is a serious issue, first it should not be shown on the News nationwide, second it needs to be resolves and not encouraging it(news are encouraging it) is the first step. Hug Hollywood, fight the war against CNN!
And so on...the list of real issues is extremely long. But if you prefer to focus your attention on the sexual life of M. Clinton, oh well, you lack sir and you are missing the keys elements. Clinton didnt kill millions of humans, what he did is arguable, but it should not even be on the top light with what is going on, Churchill was drinking so badly...yet he save us all! I scene a few kids in here. So she has a modeling contract for 10k? Now isn't that pretty low? I mean it's a good start but...don't SOE have more money to give than that?
Now, I don't know that the point is to finding a look-a-like, because a know a bunch of them (including males) who look like famous people, anime, and CG/video game characters.

Wow, you know, I don't even know where to start with all that Anofalye, I've certainly read your post's before and always thought if anything you were a well read and well worded eloquent individual that had a good dose of common sense...
First, when I go looking through lets say; a victoria's secret catalogue, what do I expect to see ? Well I expect to see females in underwear and prices. Do I take offense to that ? What the hell.. of course not because that is the intended purpose for that catalogue, ok sure the females are done up past reality and air brushed into oblivion but who cares, that is what they are there for. I have aboslutely NO PROBLEM with consenting adults advertising in whatever way they see fit (or whichever way works) because in the end it is my decision as a consumer to purchase that product or not.
And you are absolutely correct, this young women is very attractive and she absolutely deserves to be a model in any case regardles of this one situation, I love seeing women who are empowered and this is obviously one very empowered female. I could only be so lucky to be so comfortable with my own body. I've not once critisized her for her part in this at all, she is an adult, even if I did have an oppinion on her (which I don't) it would not be my business to say so.
Now for my real issue with you comment. You tell me I should concentrate on "real" issues, well this is a very real issue to me. It doesn't have to be an issue for you, that much you've clearly stated, but where do you get off telling me what I should and should not believe in. This has nothing to do with what games (or movies and tv as you went on to include, wth?) teach kids, those are NOT real life and if kids DONT get that then parents need to impart that knowledge.
The issue is that SOE is taking a game character (again, which is NOT real life) and putting a real life face to it, THEN putting that face in what I consider to be extremely adult situations. Again, I have no issue with the magazine or the real life adult situations (seriously who cares about that stuff) but where the problem lies it that this is a GAME keep it fiction fine but can you even fantom being in the mind of a 14 year old girl that comes accross this whole thing and think to herself: "Well ok I run into this on tv, movies, magazines and everywhere else and now this girl won because... she's pretty, oh well one more thing telling me exactly how I have to look". And the same goes for the young men, have you even seen the forums on EQ2 on the contest, it's filled with young men Grading the women's breasts, back sides, body's in general, it's absolutely disgusting. Not only did SOE not penalize this behaviour, THEY ARE ENCOURAGING IT !!! That is my issue, nothing else.
And as for attacking me personally Anofayle, well I would be an idiot to think that a female could make a blanket statement like I did and not expect responses like the *kiddo* comment you made but then again that is how you learn to either respect someone or not. Many people will obviously not agree with my point of view, probably far more will not but I believe you can dissagree with someone without attacking them personally, I can only assume now that you quite obviously do not.
