What needs improvement?

SharpehSharpeh Member Posts: 111

Hey guys,

I know that Guild Wars 2 is great is many aspects but I was wondering where it could use some improvement.

One thing I would really like them to implement is an observer mode for PvP. If you're at all serious about trying to be an e-sport, then an observer mode is rudimentary. I also hope they make sure that the game is mostly balanced on release.

Are there any other areas where the game could use some improvement?

Hope is nature's way of enabling us to survive so that we can discover nature itself.

I would like to see a BillBoard that show cases the top 10 Structure PVP players and top 10 Servers in WvWvW and Top 10 Dungeon Players

so that they are treated like a Celebrity.

imo, i liked the shatterer but tequatl seems lame, but i have only played the demo with the shatterer.

they need to improve pet AI badly

they need to put the high res textures and other settings back into the beta client...

they are going to add spectator mode and guild halls so i guess that's two down

they fixed the crazy glowy outline around targeted things...and promptly beta testers complained about not being able to tell what was neutral, hostile of friendly from a mile away(lol).

PvP observer mode is not going to be there at release, but as it was in GW1 , and was a very appriciated feature, i think its a safe bet that it will come later.

What GW2 could need is some higher caps on numbers of people in WvW.  Because either there  might be to big a wait for WvW or the home PvE world would risk be to empty.

They have already stated that they will add an observer mode post release. What I don't understand is why they don't just put it in the game at the release. In my eyes it is a core feature of the PvP.

A few months down the line, sure but it's not really needed at the begining when everyone is learning the game. I'd rather the devs work on something more important, to be honest.

Less cash shop dependent.   Restrict it to decorative character/guild customizations.

I LOL'ed @ "less cashop dependant" comment..  A game can't be less cash shop dependant if its not cash shop dependant in the first place. I was going to go into another long explination of how absurd it is to think just because GW2 has a cash shop that it is dependant but I figured its a waste of time.  I personally know that my time spent in the game will give me more of an advantage over nearly everyone who uses the cash shop.

Something I want I know is already coming, Personal House and Guild Halls.  I love them in LoTro and decorating them with trophies of battle and achievments.  It helps some of us have an even deeper connection with our gaming world.

Free Aim mode needs a reticle. Also in this mode, primary attack skill rapid firing (button hold).

How can a game that hasn't even been released yet, no one has seen it's final state....how can it "need improvement?"  Personally, I'd rather wait until the game is OUT before determining where it needs improvement.  Seems like a bit of a no-brainer there to me.

All these things you've all listed, how do you know they aren't working on those things or in some cases have fixed them already?  You don't know until the game is released, hence my previous comment.

    1. Increase the difficulty a tad bit more for the beginning areas. ( Force people to learn to start dodging. )

    2. Increase the speed of endurance regen just a tad.

    3. Remove the waypoints in the dungeons.

    4. Increase the skill set and damage of the veteran mobs. ( Some are easy. Others are just right in the difficulty. )

    5. Need to increase the player cap for events. (Not the meta events. Just the normal events. Early into the release the game will be so easy since most will just mob together. Which is a shame even though you can just go in any direction and progress. :( )

    6. Reduce the amount of waypoints to just towns. Not one for every landmark.

    7. Tone down the 2 handed weapon damage.

    8. Give a way to do a quick refund of skill points early on. ( Some people will rage once they find out you cannot respec those points. However, you will gain all of the skills points once you hit lvl 80 :P )

    9. Cooking is probably the hardest tradeskill to improve. Add more veggy patches and fruit farms.  ( Cooking is damn worth it though, sexy buffs.)

    10. Some mobs are knock down heavy in skills. Ex. Ettins, Rock throwing mobs, etc. Increase their damage. :D

My personal list of things that need improvements. A few more I probably missed but they will most likely have them fixed before the first beta weekend.

Open your eyes.  The game was "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" and in fact they are fine-tuning it right now to ensure cash shop gets plenty of business.  One previous posters described it best.  It should be called  "Guild Wars 2:  The online store"

It is an appalling cash shop in my opinion.

It's currently in beta.  Isn't the purpose of beta to improve on the things that need improving on?  OP asked what the game needs as far as improving.  Why wait until it's released to address this?  There are plenty of videos and info out there now about the game.  Why wouldn't people talk about what they'd like to see changed/improved?

Open your eyes, Anet has to keep the lights on somehow, and most of us prefer CS over Sub.

And since the CS doesnt sell advantages other than boosters, there is nothing "appalling" about it at all.

Observer mode is lame imo, if someone wants to learn to PvP, then they should be out there fighting, asking questions, getting involved.

My only concern for GW2 at this point, is how many players WvW can support. I want epic battles.

My group needs observer mode so we can VidCast and commentate PVP matches.  The entire E-Sport side of the structured PVP needs the observer mode so this can take place.

I want to be able to pull viewers of my live feeds into a match to observe us during practice matches.

It'll be nice to see some knowledgable commentators who know the difference bewtween Elementalist and Necro, Ranger vs Warrior and Guardian without mushing other game terms into it.

@cash shop comments -  just because someone dislikes the idea of a cash shop they refuse to listen to reason what so ever and blindly stick their fingers in their ears, close their eyes, and blow raspberrys until people stop reacting to them.  yay fun!

As long as I can prove to myself it isn't forced cash shop or even Pay 2 Win for that matter, thats all that matters. Absurd arguments with skewed opinions just make me laugh.  I'll be in GW2 not using the cash shop and have a major advantage over most who will use it.  Why?  Because I'm a full time gamer and Since I'll be in the game A LOT more then most people I'll have more gold coming in then most who would transfer gems into gold.

Observer mode is not primarily for learning, it's for displaying the fight to an audience.

The cash shop needs improvement. They need to get rid of the annoying horns that gold sellers will abuse and the keys for chests which give better items than the ones people without keys dont have. There are a number of other pay 2 win items as well which give advantage in pvp which are a problem.

TL;DR= get rid of the Pay 2 win cash shop.

For me they have to improve:

    - oviously particle effects!

    - difficulty of dynamic events when there are a lot of players. Right now it's wtf I facerolled my keyboard and everything died.

    - remove the 3/10 indicators in dynamic events. Totalbisquit was talking about that in one if his videos.

    - IMPROVE PERFORMANCE!

    - observer mode would be awesome but I can wait a few months after release for implementation.

The problem isn't the indicators.  The problem is dynamic events are just chained KILL X/COLLECT Y/FETCH/ESCORT quests.  Removing the indicator won't change the fact you are killing 10 rats.

I've researched the CS, and found no P2W aspects, especially concerning the WvW. Believe me, the day they sell a weapoon or piece of armor that is stronger than anything I can make or find in game, then I'll be the first to leave.

Untill then, I'll be enjoying the WvW, and I'm so glad you wont be there. I wont have time to hold your hand in the WvW, while you complain about getting your arse handed to you, and blaming it all on the CS.

I can hear it now, "OMG, I so would have pwned him if it wasnt for that booster he bought!"  ....lol
