I'll have to disagree, I've played plenty of games and found that what separates the good and bad communities are mainly pvp and pve. PvE servers are usually friendly and very helpful, while PvP communities are the total opposite and bring the worst in people.
Also I don't think you should make assumptions about a community of a game that isn't even out yet. The community could be bad, but it also could be good. Guild Wars has a great community with only a few douche and trolls in PvP

i also hate anime....hate lineage games (outside of L2's nice environments), but like Tera. mostly because of it being an important step in bringing action gaming (of a certain type) into MMOVWs.

sometimes communities can be nicer in pvp servers, since people knows there is a consequence for been a jerk.
I do have to admit, the starting zone was horrible as far as the area chat goes.
I personally was not interested in this game after CB3, so I skipped CB4. But for some reason I gave it another chance and I played CB5 and once I hit 20 the game really took a turn for the better, community and all. I cant wait for the OB, even though Ill be starting from scratch again, at least I have something to look forward to.

By far, I have to say this has been the most inmature, troll ridden community of any beta I have ever played. I saw several gems of people by their decency, but just like gems, these were rare finds.
What is with the communities lately. Its as if they were rejects from the memebase forums...
I sincerely hope it was only a beta issue and that these people hate the game enough to not subscribe to it, but in the odd case that it is what the future of mmo gaming looks like, I will try to seek refuge in an RP server in hopes of a little more maturity.
They really need to put an age limit on the ability to post to forums, that might solve the issue.

in Aion, you had this Rifts open up every 5 minutes, with tons of high level players from the other faction getting through, and killing everyone and their mother along the way. you coulden't finish a quest without getting ganked constantly by people 40 levels higher than you. or getting one shot, while you were sitting resting, after fighting a mob.
i think this is one of the reasons, i avoid pvp servers like the plague lol

Now I can't speak with any recent experience, but when GW1 first launched so many years ago it's community was arguably one of the worst out there at the time, much worse than WOW's was at the time.
Now maybe over the years that settled down but I suspect you're going to see GW2's community suffer at first, but the fact you do have to pay 60.00 for it should keep some of the ill mannered away.

PvE doesn't mean no trolls, i played enough F2P game thats based on PvE where basically the top guild that control the leading raid pretty much are the worse group of people you could possible find. They are on par or even worse than some PvP communtys. Because they P2W they think its they have skills when its all because few member in the guild spend like 1000 dollar a month on the game.

If I were to play Tera I would go in not expecting much maturity from the Tera community either, just from looking at the screenshots. If I meet some friendly, non-abrasive, non-vulgar people I would consider that the exception rather then the rule.

First off, GW2 is not F2P. It is Buy 2 Play. Yes you can play it for free, but you must purchase it first. There is a difference. I think only 2 people in this thread acknowledged this fact. Second off, easiest way to stop a troll is to not feed them the attention they so very much crave.
I was upset with the chat at first, but then I just ignored it and continued question with my friend. I am gonna play in the open beta soon and I'm pretty sure I'll end up purchasing the Digital Deluxe version. We shall see. If the BAMs are as cool as my friend says than I am down. I am a big Monster Hunter fan and that is what the combat reminds me of. So I am definitely interested. I will most likely play GW2 at some point, but I'm really leary because the way they have handled the pre-purchases so far. It's a bit slapped together. 2 different games. No need to hate on either one. Just play the one you enjoy more and let others play the one they enjoy more
