    Depends on your preference.

Diablo 3 you devote bits of your life at a tiome if you so desire while GW2 you usually have to devote a chunk at a time. They are different genres.

Diablo 3 will have a starter edition(free), i believe it limits you to level 20 and is a bit more extensive than the beta is. Also Diablo3 will never drop in price unless a retailer is purging stock.

GW2 as far as i know won't have a trial at launch and the price will eventually drop at the very least much sooner than D3.

I say wait for the D3 launch and play the starter version if you're getting antsy.

    Diablo Battle Chest = $19.99

    GW Trilogy = $29.99

Both prices are from Gamestop, figured I'd be fair considering most other places are selling the Diablo battle chest for $7-$10.

GW2's Dynamic events allow you to pop in and out at will so requires just bits of your life at a time is you desire.

I'd say wait on GW2 all around a better game and you get a hell of a lot more for the money. But by all means play the starter version of D3 since it's free.

D3 will drop in price in no time, reasons I say this? They are already trying their best to give away as many copies as they can to inflate the "Units Sold" number. They are already anticipating the low interests and making the first 20 levels free.

We know and they know that D3's chances at being a success are low hence the type of promotions they are doing.

    Safe bet = GW2

Honestly, D3 feels like a free to play game.

    It's just not a 2012 title.

If it was on my android tablet, I'd pay for it, otherwise it's just not worth the money on a PC.

    What games have soul?

Wastelander II seems to be a current example.

They're sticking to their vision even through no commercial funding publishing.

They went out to the community because the believed in their product.

They apparently would not compromise features (ie making a fps instead)

Diablo III screams money grab in my opinion. Because i Believe they think the can just do the bare minimum and profit because of the past franchise success.

Oh yes because a money grabber would hang onto the bait for 10 years before releasing a product with the bare minimums.. seriously? If they were out to profit off the franchises success we'd have Diablo 5 LoDx3 now. Sorry but blizzard products usually get you the best bang for your buck. Look at SC1, Warcraft RTS and Diablo2.. they are still updated and slightly cared for even now. No extra dime paid in 10 years for those games.

Don't think so. WOW's success didn't really provide an incentive to keep churning out new and better (as well as non-subbed) games for Blizz, to say the least. Why compete with yourself?

To not end up like SOE?

I'll edit to say that i think Soe have put a lot more effort than Bliz actually is, they just weren't very lucky too with EQ2

I am thinking of buying after I finished the beta, but not sure yet. It seems quite nice though.

I wouldn't be so sure about your predictions on Diablo's success, currently they're having server issues from so many people trying to play. Blizzard is known worldwide. Diablo 3 could probably do half as good as WoW and still be considered a great success.

Doesn't matter though, Blizzard games don't go down in flames(not that GW2 will) and are supported for years, so I think buying it would be a good choice. I don't think Blizzard is desperate for money, so I don't think D3 will drop in price very soon.

But GW2 is pretty much new territory, it's not certain how that will work out yet, and just how their cash shop will turn out. GW2 looks fun from the videos I've seen, but I think I'd rather play diablo3 right now, partly because it's a different game style, and I've been doing the MMO thing for about a decade now. I think it's time for some hackin', slashin', and loot whorin'.

The main problem of the game is that there are limitation.Games should be about freedom of player.

The second let down is that the game is too easy.I had to play a melee demon hunter in order to feel some kind of challenge.

  • SybnalSybnal Member Posts: 261

After trying the game yesterday I don't think I'm going to buy it.

It's an alright game. Looks good, plays good.  But I just don't see the value for the $$.  Blizzard is charging double what I think the game is worth.

Honestly, I'd rather support the PoE guys.  They've made a decent alternative to Diablo 3 with a fraction of the budget and way less time and they are giving it away for free.  It doesn't have the content or polish of D3, but it has the virtue of being an independant game and not another massive cash grab by Activision/Blizzard.

After playing it, i can say it deserves to be a 15 dollar game on steam that drops to 2.99 in xmas.

Only if they add pvp soon enough.

Buying everything from blizzard since diablo 1. Never have been disappointed
  • xenogiasxenogias Member Posts: 1,926

I wont be buying it at launch BECAUSE I cant play the OB. I'll wait for the free version and see if I can even manage to download it then.

As of right now I get stuck on the updating patcher. Went to try what Blizzard said to do to fix that and found another problem. Even at about 75% through when it freezes its not actually installing any files at all and certainly not the things they tell you to delete. I know its beta so this is all fine and good. But because of it I simply wont be buying the game untill I can try it. Heard to many bad things about it from actual vet D1/D2 people. Namely real life friends that I used to lan D2 with. They hate it and I trust thier opinion untill I can try it for myself.

  • EkarosEkaros Member UncommonPosts: 367

It's good, but not that good. I won't be buying it for more than 10-15€ which is a long time. Too simple for me, even if it has it addiction.

  • korent1991korent1991 Member UncommonPosts: 1,364

I was thinking of buying it once it's released (not the same instant it goes live), but now when I try to login I can't because of the massive error messages I get whenever I try and I see that I'm not alone with this issue.

Now I'm not that really sure if I'll buy the game at all considering how much errors I've experienced in open beta and how may negative comments I've seen about the game itself... The release date is right around the corner and it has a lot of errors when you even try to login, don't want to know how's the situation when you actually play the game.

Maybe I'll wait like few months and the I can just buy everything off the RMT? Hehehehe... :D

Not to get you excited, I was joking about RMT... :P

The beta did not convince me to buy the game at all really.  It's very short, I get constant errors and disconnects.  I have pre-ordered the game though already as I have some friends I will playing with :)  What I did get to play was pretty fun, didn't care for the skill system in the least though.

Except it's not that simple. The original project might have had a lot of emotion invested into but that is definitely not what the product released feels like.

The fact that it took 10 years and 2 dev teams makes it more possible that ActiBlizzard got tired of trying to produce a real sequel that retained the feel of the franchise (because D3 absolutely doesn't) and decided to make the D3 we are getting now.

Overall, D3 is very disappointing to me. The lack of PvP, the real money trading, the cartoonish and overcoloured art direction, always requiring an internet connections, etc.

And you know what's sad?  They WILL profit on their past franchise success.  Just wait and see.  It makes me want to vomit (how a bad product can just ride the coattails of an older better product), but that certainly isn't going to stop it from happening.  Well....all I can say is that they aren't going to be getting any more of my little bitty money.  I won't make a difference, but at least my conscience will be clear.

I was astounded at just how bad the game was.

It should cost $6.99 and be on a Cell Phone.

    huh ???

Diablo 3 is an hack n slash rpg game and gw2 is an mmo

so i dont understand the confusion...clearly gw2 will take more of your time since its an mmo

ppl need stop saying that diablo is an mmo cause its not

  • sudosudo Member UncommonPosts: 697

I LOVED the game. It's good old Diablo 2 with all the new features of a game made in 2012 in it (for me).

Will be buying the game, even though, I will be buying Guild Wars 2 as well.

Will have to, somehow, find the time for both...
