The skill system is lackluster.  It's the same skills rehashed over and over again.  You don't need the full game to see this. There is no decision making in this game either.  There nothing that makes your character different than the next of the same class. The game loses quite a lot of replay value by forbidding us from making permanent decisions.

I honestly think Blizzard is hoping we get hooked on the MOBA aspect of the game. But they didn't include it in the beta. So I'm not so sure what their aim is.

Also the gameplay is quite easy. Being able to 1/2 shot everything isn't eactly fun or challenging. You don't lose much health in any of the dungeon crawls either. I remember throwing town portals in Act 1 in D2 to go back and heal a few times.

If D3 beta is the equivalent to going up to Blood Raven in D2. I might be a little forgiving in the difficulty aspect. But for some reason I doubt it.  I've had my hopes up by the massess claiming things they don't even know for sure themselves only to be dissapointed.  I'm not buying the game to see how the difficulty ramps up for each act and hoq nightmare/hell difficulties add up.

They have added some more content and small improvements since september. I'm still asking for decent side quests or caves that distract you for a good 20-30 minutes from the story line.  But it doesn't seem to be happening.  Blizzard has added a couple 1/2 room caves populated by one pack of monsteres, threw in a chest, and called it a day. Kudos to them when they added a few more mini-bosses within the story line. But I'll take back that kudos as they are so insignificant. I can't remember or figure out what and why they are there in the first place.

Maybe there will be tons more story/lore driven content in the other 3 acts. But if its paced similarlity to Act 1. This game is a huge pass for me.

I will not buy it until a price drop or a sale.

Also, the skill system either needs to be more diverse or they just need to take out spending your skill point since you can only spend it on one skill anyway it should just auto give you the skill.

I did have fun playing it but I think it is lacking as far as a Diablo game goes. It is a good game if you look at it as not being Diablo 3.

     lets break it down...

Guy is complaining about lack of skills at level 10-13 out of 100 levels!!!

Guy is complaining the game is too easy in about 2 hours of gameplay... guess he wanted epic endgame battles on Act 1 of 100....

    /sigh

    /face_palm

Is it fun? (fun)  1 is no and 2 is yes

How long will I  enjoy playing it for? (duration in hours)

How much does it cost? (cost in dollars)

    If

    (duration * fun) / cost >= .25

    Then

Yes I will buy and play it.

Why .25?  Well, a fun movie for two people costs roughly $16 at matinee price and lasts for 2 hours. So I get:

    (2*2)/16 = .25

So, do I find D3 fun? Yes.  2

How many hours will I play it? I will probably clear the game once at minimum (worst case scenario) First third of act 1 took about an hour, if each act takes 3 hours and there are 4 acts I have 12 hours of gameplay.

    Cost? $60

    (2*12)/60 = .4

Therefore it's more fun and better value than going to a good movie. And that's at worst case scenario. If I take multiple characters through the game on normal it grows quite a bit. And if I go through multiple difficulties it just gets giant.

Let's say I play it on and off for 6 months putting in 8 hours a week. That's 192 hours.

(192*2)/60 = 6.4  Definitely worth it. And who am I kidding?  I'll play it more than 8 hours a week and for much longer than 6 months. Probably looking at 2-3 years with an average of 15 hours a week.  That $60 has gone a long way in entertainment value.

You forgot to add in the dimishing fun value since

    randomly generated maps = false

replaying same character differently = false

The first day- week is the time period when you have the most enjoyment in a game. So that is another factor.

Just like a movie's fun is drastically lowered the second or third time you watch it (because it is not new or not many more new experiance can be gained from it).

lol The games too easy? Personally i love Diablo for its "farming" gameplay. Random item drops always giving more reason to kill stuff. I enjoy killing demons repeatedly. Id rather kill 100 mobs in 1-2 minutes than 1mob every 1minute like say in your typical MMORPG. The whole point is to slaughter hordes of demons, fighting back the forces of Hell! There are more challenging mobs and bosses.

The interface itself is also very simple yes. Thats the whole point tho, its an incredible point and click game, so much fun! Theres so many different aspects to the game and all you do is left and right click.

Eve has millions of players and all that game is is basically right clicking anywhere on your desktop over and over again.

Cool system, but why is "no fun" = 1 instead of 0? Wouldn't it make more sense to not buy games that simply aren't fun - especially since there are so many good games out there? :)

As it stands No, its to linear, theres no choice in ur characters path. In D2 i could make a zealidin, Light aura din, hammerdin, ect ect. Thsi game is basically WoW meets d2. Its 75% wow 25% D2. Ill stick with d2 on this one.

Playing: FFXIV, DnL, and World of Warships

I'm getting it trough the annual pass so pre order for me wasn't an issue. I absolutely loved the beta, it pulled me in pretty fast. I made a wizzard which was pretty entertaining but the difficulty was so easy i made my second char a hardcore character / Barbarian and went straight into public games. Barbarians are FUN, even at the start where you hit a zombie so hard you blow its skeleton clear from its flesh.  But the difficulty oh man its easy, even with 4 people in the world you go your own route in a dungeon and you still clear it without a problem. But hey it has 4 settings right, and make a hardcore char with that in mind and you'll be a little more carefull. Tbh they should have named the normal mode easy and so on now that i think about it.

Side dungeons? Well i did find the den of evil with two levels with unique monsters in them, carrion bats and their hives, some old dark shaman skeletons i could turn over for loot as a side joke. Two events were placed in the side quests which were allright but a bit easy, The jar of souls and the matriarchs bones were pretty entertaining though. Overall i had the most fun in the public games with more people.

Trying to get the skeleton king to punch his own minions was actually pretty damn tricky imo. The witch doctor did not come into its glory in those 13 levels and the demon hunter i'm not that thrilled about but i noticed you need to like his mechanics to play him properly, standing from afar, slowing mobs down, throwing boleros on a dozen minions, great support char for later levels.

All in all i'll def play it, the new graphics are allright, the mechanics are allright. The promise of it becoming progressively harder, and this version of the game was basically a preview, we have had these before and they surprised us in the end.

You guys wait for it and play some guild wars 2, we'll let you know how it works out.

Will probally end up buying this and its because of the beta im even considering it...

I thought blizzard would totally mess up by trying to create somthign totalyl different... but after testing the beta i found out i was wrong.

Sure its a bit dumbed down from the older ones and the cartoon graphics do take away from the grim. gritty dark atmos of the game but the main thing is thats its actually fun to play and for me thats the main thing..
