I think the main problem with monks is the bonuses that the class gets, as well as some of the most overpowering feats in D&D, in my view, a high level monk is just about the most destructive force in the D&D, its insane the ammount of hurt a monk can dish out as well as invulnerability the monk gets from many attacks.

Now to the druids, druid shapechanging works on a different level than any other class, mainly because they can assume any shape of any animal in the game, the shapechanging ability on druids has no limitations in terms of what they can become, be it a chipmunk or a gorila, that presents a serious chalenge to implement in a computer game.

Forgot to add that the devs have already stated that there will be no prestige classes at launch, they will be implement at a later date (i.e Expansion).

No one said anything about there being no prestige classes, but the devs have stated that they won't be in for the initial release, which is what I was referring to in my post.

With No shapechanging currently in the build, I will assume Polymorph, Change Self, and all the other Arcane spells in the line are out....

I hope that RAngers/Druids will still be able to get animal companions....but since I have heard there are no familiars atm also, I don't see that either....

Monks...Yeah I'm at a loss as to why Monks aren't in, guess they had to pick a class that wasn't completely a Core class to hold off the launch schedule, so tehy can put the following on the "Expansion list"

    • NEW CHARACTER CLASS! The mighty hand to hand warrior, THE MONK!
    • SIX NEW PRESTIGE CLASSES
    • NEW SPELLS!
    • HUNDREDS of NEW MAGIC ITEMS!
    • XX new instance zones to challenge your Party!
    • NEW MONSTERS to challenge your characters from Challenge Rating 1 to 25!!!

    Look about right?

didn't know about the ban on shapechanging, so we can chalk that up for the Druid.

And, yes, your advertisement does make sense ehehehehe ;)

I didn't know about no prestige classes at release... well, they are not needed for the first 7 levels ... but as ususal, the devs will prolly take a bit more for them.

    Oh well

Have you seen the video on Yahoo?  I was watching this morning (release date may 20) and it was very interesting.  Plus the discussion with Ken (I am not for sure when that was dated) was very good to.  In the video he states that there will be solo content but the main focus will be on groups.  How do people get this confused?  Also when you watch the video it is one guy the entire time wiping a bunch of monsters out :).

    Why?

Eberron has a shapechanging race that won't be in the game. Though they will have the living golem "Warforged" race.

Bleh. I just don't care for the steam punk nature of Eberron. Any of the other major worlds would have been better.

I played the demo at GenCon Indy this past weekend.

It is the first online game that has not turned me off in the first ten minutes. In fact I made several trips to the game over the weekend ;-)

I will be getting this one. It will be my first trip away from the PnP games since I started back in the early 80's (Ouch I am getting old)

If they used a very familer setting... People would have many more oppurtunies to say the developers "did something wrong" when creating it.
