First...you are wrong. This isn't some special account that only works with the beta client. The beta client isn't somehow special or different from what will be there when the game is released. For online purchases, this is the final key (afaik), for physical pre-purchase, you do have to enter another key that comes with your box, but this is because a boxed copy will come with a code anyways, and there would otherwise be no way to stop people from making a second account or selling the code that comes with the box or whatever. Second...straight from the Email you get for prepurchasing GW2. "Online game codes are non-returnable, non-refundable, and can only be used to create or upgrade one game account." This applies to all online games as far as I know.
No, I am pretty sure the beta client is different than the final product. When the game releases, if your currently installed Beta client auto updates and runs the live game after release, then I'll admit my mistake.
As for point number two, since I didn't pre purchase, I'll have to take your word for it, but I was going off the other posters response who said there was no such language. Anyway, I'll operate assuming your are speaking the truth, That being said, then yeah, No refunds....Buyer beware. I think it's pretty slick marketing on ANet, but yeah, if it's what's said, so be it.
But I do have one question. How is it that when people have said they paid for beta and didn't get it, Everyone here is overwhelmingly saying..."You paid for the game, not the beta!" So beta didn't equal the game in that case, But now that Someone who was in beta wants a refund, They don't deserve it because they used the game.
Which is which? Is being in beta getting the game or isn't it?

Heya Geezer. The client we have now will simply be updated as we go along. For all intents and purposes, we have the game itself even though it's only the beta content at this time. The updating is automatic.
People saying they paid for the beta and didn't get it... not sure about that. Some are saying that GameStop, for example, gave them preorder keys (1 day headstart, no beta) instead of pre-purchase keys. If that's true, GameStop has some 'splainin' to do.
Being in the beta is being in the beta. Pre-purchasing the game is getting the game as well as access to all betas. There are also beta keys being given out that do not give access to the released game when it's live.
At first, disappointed because I could not even connect.
But when I finally managed to play a little, my attitude has changed dramatically ... game is great, everything they promised <span alt-edited"="">is in
One problem with beta is bothering me ... It is over, I want more!
And out of curiosity OP, since you're clearly a fan of SWTOR, why did you make this post?
I want to see what people think of the beta. Looking at the poll it looks very positive. Ohh and I am not a SWTOR fan. I am a Shadowbane / Darkfall fanatic. I cant kill my own side in any of these games. However I do like population and in GW2 I can roam around slaughtering whoever I want in the RVR zones at least without paying a monthly fee. Even the hardcore need a place to retire since there is no other good game out.
Here, here! I'm an old Shadowbane player and have been disappointed with all mmorpgs since the severs shut down. I tried Darkfall for a bit, but lost interested in it. The Beta weekend was refreshing and even though the instant PvP was alright, the WvW was great I thought, that is when I could get in it, lol. But it's was a beta stress test so no biggie for me. I think I'll enjoy this game, time will tell.

88% or so either not cancelling or never pre-ordered in the first place after almost 1,200 votes. I'd say that proves without a doubt the first BWE was a massive success within the MMORPG.com community wouldn't you?
Honestly, I am a lot less skeptical than I was before I read everyone's posts. I still, however, have some unanswered questions, that will probably not be answered until game's release.
Only reason I am holding off is the end game feels like "been there..done that" to me. Alot of you might think I am trolling, but this feels like Aion to me with dyanamic events. Everything I see described about end game just sounds like Aion where I will sit on my thumb twiddling it waiting for something to do.
The pvp was shit, but the end game was 5 mans and that was it.

You got to max level during the Beta weekend ?
When all has been said and done, more will have been said than done.
That is what is pissing me off. I do not give two shits about the lore or how big the cities are. I care about end game and all I see is 5 mans for pve.
So you didn't see the giant 100 Person shatterer world boss fight? The Shadow behemoth, Tequatl the sunless, ect. Guild wars 2 is about open world bosses not instanced bosses.
If you contact support, you may be able to get a refund even if you pre-purchased. I pre-purchased the game, and I am getting a refund. I have the e-mails from NCSoft to prove it.
Now, my problem with the game turned out to be a hardware issue even though my computer met the minimum requirements listed on the site. Anyway, I may be getting a refund only because of the hardware issue, but I am getting one. So, yeah, try contacting NCSoft support.
That is what is pissing me off. I do not give two shits about the lore or how big the cities are. I care about end game and all I see is 5 mans for pve.
There are more than just 5-man content , but given you feel so strongly about 5mans .... you probably shouldn't play Gw2. I don't see much raiding, if any at all end game ( not sure if random Dragons count). I see this is as PvP game with engaging pve to get me to 80.
The game wasn't as entertaining as I hoped it would be, but I won't be cancelling the game for 2 reasons. Firstly, the game is still in beta stages and could/will change as the development of the game progresses. Secondly, the game only cost $59.99, so it doesn't concern me too much.
That is what is pissing me off. I do not give two shits about the lore or how big the cities are. I care about end game and all I see is 5 mans for pve.
Rest assured, within five minutes of playing my Norn thief I was in a 15+ man raid against a giant ice wurm. Are they called raids? no, but they provide that same epic feel I believe you are craving.
PvE in this game actually has more "raids" than I've ever seen in an MMO. You just don't have to sit around and wait for a group. Run to the event and jump into the combat. The raid will form around you as more people answer the DE call.
The final PvE areas are designated to have the most impactful DE's in the game and the most difficult.

I used to be just like you until i realized that the "endgame gear tredmill grind" became silly to me. I'm at a phase where i want more than to just log in twice a week to clear bosses, which is all i did in Rift. Don't get me wrong, i enjoyed racking up server firsts in that game and i feel that it's really a great game that does raiding top notch. Hell, if it were not for GW2, i'd still be playing it.
With that statement, it's evident that you're stuck in the old mentality which is fine in an of itself. I don't see why anyone would move to another game if they had no interest in lore, exploration, or anything outside of raids.

While I share your enjoyment of the Norn tutorial ... it can't be compared to a raid, at all .... what so ever. It would literally detract from his enjoyment of the game if he bought it with that in mind, got in and saw what it actually was.

You might be a little misleading there. I don't know about you but on my norn I participated in over five raids in the first hour. They aren't actually called raids but I was fighting against an enemy, or swarms of them, with dozens of players.
I expect the endgame to be no different especially sense those are the areas reserved for the truly difficult DE's and the most impactful ones. I hardly went a single hour without being involved in a raid the entire weekend.

I don't consider them the same thing at all, see the above. If he's looking for a raid like experience ... he won't find it in the De's I encountered up to level 20. I think it would be doing him and the game a disservice to sell De's as "raid experiences"
That is what is pissing me off. I do not give two shits about the lore or how big the cities are. I care about end game and all I see is 5 mans for pve.
So you think end game is instances with 24 man groups right there bosses in the world that can have 100 players fighting it then theres yes 5 man dungeons that have explorer modes to them that make a wow instance look like candy land wait they are all ready. Really you people saying no end game need to get out of the 24 man raids and try playing the game in the real world then being couped up in a instance with one path to follow.
I didnt get to try the dungeons myself yet but had some epic world boss fights with some groups that where 30+ players not just me and 23 or less others. I also did boss fights with 3 others and some with one other and guess what none of them where easy at all. No face rolling or just hitting 123 the whole time I had to really play the game to finish these.
Sorry you dont see the fun in this I dont see the fun in games that you do nothing but raid and instances in them and I cant stand doing only that. I got a huge world to play in not just 3 instances and one raid like most games but a whole world and some dungeons that I can run all I want and not be stuck waiting for the next batch to come out. So theres 800+ games that catter to that style of play some are pay to play the rest F2P pick one and have fun. Owe and when you understand the gear tredmill is in everygame to date thats out on the market even except a selet few then you will see why so many are happy about guild wars.

The De's are enjoyable never the less.
Haha sorry, I didn't notice you had responded to what I said. Respectfully where do you note the difference? All I see is I'm playing with dozens of players to take down hard encounters without any of the annoying build up that that usually requires.
Unless, of course, a person enjoys sitting in town for hours attempting to gather ineterest. I saw raid quality content there without any need to sit around and gather up members. I just went in and the raid formed around me.

So a 7 day hardcore raid schedule is good end game content? No thanks... There are plenty of raid grind fest MMOs out there... If that is what you are looking for this is not the game for you.
World bosses reminicent of EQ that take scores of players, WvWvW, PvP tournaments, and exploration dungeons... Yes end game sounds practically void of content.

u really only see pve as late game? what about WvWvW and team vs team pvp?
end game of GW2 will have TONS of things to do.
If u really enjoy pve dont worry u prob will get to lvl 80 without exploring lots of areas of GW2 world
