I can honestly say I thought the DE's where average (but still fun). After watching this I'm thinking I'm a tard and need to actually pay attention more. Honestly though its kinda sad that a player had to do this instead of Anet doing it. On the bright side it gave one smart player a chance to make some of us feel stupid

To be honest, when I figured out that events and NPCs function this way, I assumed that other players know as well because to me it was obvious after I figured it out. It's only after reading post BWE impressions that I realized that most people did not see what I saw and was completely oblivious to how DEs actually worked. ANet must've thought that it would be obvious too.
This thread blows my mind with how long it has come with overwhelmingly positive feedback. It really is hard to argue with that video though, watched it earlier today. Its a great way to show people how DEs work in the game who have not seen it and to remind you not to play it like other MMOs. I totally skipped too much in the weekend apparently too..
did think it were abit a shame and even abit fun, when people in general chat, were saying hey Im only lvl 15 and the next area is lvl 20, what do I do to get the last 5 levels? knowing they had rushed past alot of the event chains....however I didnt pay attention to NPCs so guess my turn to feel I missed out on something, were running around gathering stuff while waiting to see if another event would start, didnt know they had a more in-depth story being told if you follow the NPCs.
but Im sure some doesnt care about the NPC´s stories, so could still be a valid way to play, but do think you d miss out, if you did.
Rewatched the videos this morning (original in OP and the one someone posted about a higher level event). I can't wait to see what GW2 does with holidays and really can't wait to discover one of the rare big events that get triggered by hidden objects that some explorer accidently triggers.
I think the thing that just amazes me is that it appears that each of the chains tell a different story. They include mechanics (kill this, collect that, protect someone) we are used to but it really is in an entirely different way. With each race's homelands being so very different sinking into the DEs in each area will really feel like travelling to a different place.
And what is even more interesting is that the guy in the video missed another one of these chains at the lodge where the blacksmith took the ore. Had he stuck around there for a while there is another similar chain there that leads into the next zone where you have to protect a mead shipment coming to the lodge.
And of course there is another chain of events that leads you to the lodge in the first place to meet the blacksmith who then heads over to the caves to collect the ore. Sure they are scripted events, but it really ties the whole world together nicely.

AWESOME video !
GW2 trully stands apart by it´s details & game play.
I read their launch goal is 100 DEs per zone. With a final, pre-next-expansion pack number of 300 DEs per zone.
I don't remember 50. And I played all weekend in the same general area.

But yea, they do need to explain this.
Edit: I accidentally a bunch of words.

That video was real eye opener. On next beta I am going to spend lot more time watching what ever these npcs do or talk.
