C'mon now, every hour a message pops on in your screen telling you how many hours you've played, and advises you to play responsibly, you're just not listening to their advice. (as I saw 4, 5 hours go by regularly over the weekend)

Lost all of yesterday and probably all of today having fun in TERA.
As for Rift, I thought the graphics were a step up for sure, and the music was pretty good (I especially liked how they used accousic instruments a lot and in battle music, and how it got more intense with strings if you were fighting more enemies). TERA is about 2 steps up from Rift.

It is pretty fun at times.....
I love those kind of games!
I should have been playing today but the normally punctual distributor I ordered the game through sent it through the US Postal service instead of UPS. I may never play the game now! Damn you newegg.com!
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
The extremely childish community is a HUGE and probably the #1 turn off for me.
That is a biproduct of the new "Generation Me" attitude that plagues all new MMOs. You are going to see that in every game now-a-days, especially PVP games which draw the worse out of people. The RP PVE server is a LOT more respectable, but doesn't have the added sense of danger the PVP servers have.
I found the chat in the RP server more enjoyable. The PVP servers are just a cespool for chat, similar to every other MMO in the past 5 years.
Edit: Report anyone abusing Area chat, it works. It isn't much, but it is better than nothing. I've seen already 2 chat trolls suspended from the game from the Feral Valley server.
Oddly the generation ME folks cant seem to stomach EVE, which is the purest PVP game out there ... surprisingly the community (while fully ready to blow you up or scam you out of everything you own) is actually pretty damn good !
sorry for the derail
to the point, I agree the chat feels a lot like WOW chatter, but I am massivley enjoying the game, combat and simply ignoring chat all -together !!

Exactly how I feel. I ignore the chat. It gets so childish with the "smack" talking
I lost track of about 6 hours today. That hasn't happened in the last 5 or 6 years with any MMO. This game just picks up and gets deeper and better the further I go into it. Not sure how long the feeling with last, but I FINALLY feel like I've found a new MMO home. I didn't even follow this game, but I'm glad I found it.
Agreed, its been to long since iv had this experience in an MMO again.
Also "I lost track of about 6 hours today" (OP) Hah, this game made me lose track of my whole weekend practicly, about 8 hours a day.
I agree 100% with the OP. Whenever I log off, I think of something else I wanted to do and log right back on. I haven't been this hooked on an MMO since my early days with WoW. And to think, I wasn't even going to buy this game. So glad I did.

Problem with EVE is its at the end of the spectrum as sandbox goes, and sadly most people even the ones raving about how they hate themeparks dont really want a sandbox, they want to feel special and to "win" regardless of them putting a lot of time into the game or very little and the minute they step into anything politically meaningful in EVE they will just get destroyed by long long estabilished corps.
I honestly cannot wait to see until TERA turns a bit like that ( obviously at a much more smaller scale ), and the same alliances/guilds take over all of the provinces and the small fish that hide in instances are left to fend for themselves. There will be endless whine and then a lot of people will leave and you are left with a bit ( hopefully ) more mature community.
On Topic: I really like this game, it has been a while that I have walked around in an MMO doing random stuff cause it was fun, specially soloing instances and BAMs is a lot of fun, I honestly got past the whole generic questing cause really what I want is a fighting challenge in PVE.
I am enjoying the combat but my husband who clicks and plays said he cannot imagine playing it. Thank heavens I have everything mapped to my mouse.
Lol, I was in the same boat as your husband. First time a mob sidestepped to avoid my attack I was all like, "What the hell are you DOING?? You're supposed to just stand there and let me kill you!"
I need to program my mouse.
Oh, and I lost AN ENTIRE WORK DAY to this game today. Things are not looking good for me.
