IDC how good you think you are there is no way you are soloing a dungen that is level aproperate. Even if you some how managed the only class that could even possibly be able to this is the Lancer.
Ofc it is possible, and yeah I am a lancer, soloed it at level 29, took me nearly an hour and a 45min, the only hard bit were the adds from the duchess and from the last boss ( which I later found out can be tanked in a smaller room with no adds ).
By level 33 I could pretty much faceroll the instance on my own ( still took time ofc just challenge level had gone down significantly ), did it with my girlfriend when she was also still level 28 ( warrior ) and I left her for a bit to see if she could solo it, again she could solo pretty much the whole instance, only time I had to intervene were the adds on the duchess she didnt manage to time the evade correctly and kill the adds fast enough.
Only class I dont see being able to solo is priest, just not enough ranged attacks, but even then our guild priest, on one of the runs soloed for fun the mad hatter boss, kept sleeping him, doing damage and lots of kiting.
Its more than possible just depends how smart you are at figuring out the mechanics that make you effective against particular enemies/packs, you can literally avoid all damage if you can time all your skills perfectly which is pretty awesome.
To begin, let me say I enjoyed the game despite it's cartoon style graphics. To me gameplay > graphics. I enjoyed the first 25 or so levels I enjoyed the pvp action in the open world ( pvp server ) BUT around levle 27-29 the story line questing is not soloable.
A common response is why play an MMO if you dont want to group. I shouldn't have to.
In short , to level, you need to do quests. To do the best xp quests you need a full group.
I have not logged in since ...
.....You quit... FOR THAT REASON!?
Wow, that's pretty bad then.
Not because the game's combat is pretty generic and not "TRUE COMBAT" as advertised?
Not because the game isn't really a "NEW BREED OF MMO" as advertised?
Not because the game IS THE SAME THING WE'VE ALL PLAYED OVER AND OVER AGAIN?
Jeez, and here I thought people who quit Tera actually quit it for those reasons.

This is how you know a game is getting something right. Sure, like Rex said you can skip the parts of the main story quest once you become high enough in level but is this not THE reason someone should want to quit an MMO?

I for one have skipped past storyline quest co i out lvl them to next area XD Wasn't until like lvl 57 did i finally skip a storyline quest because I couldn't do it, dungeonw as like 59 mobs and doing full 57 party was stuipd, even than there was other quest area to bridge 57 to 58 before your next story quest.

Well I have done my story line quest all alone as a mystic and I´ve done it all the way to lvl 42 so far. So really dunno what your talking about here. If i were a troll I would say "get good", but I guess you must be doing something seriously wrong if you can´t solo story line quests pass lvl 27-29...
And thus the "Why I'm quitting this game" threads begin. Dejavu feeling, anyone? I can even hear in the background some light I told you so's muttered in hushed tones...
What exactly are you talking about? Did you bother to read the OP? He stated he's quitting because he (mistakingly) felt he was forced to group with other people to progress.
Its possible to solo the eailer instance but later instance is impossible, than again I won't be playing this game if you could lol
Depending on the class I think it's feasible to solo the Sinestral Manor. the only thing that seems really difficult is the matron and her adds. I had difficulty with her running back and then summoning the adds but one might be able to move her to an even further room than the one I used.

I said later, i think you can solo like NT the 42ish instance, and maybe GL but GL(48) the boss and mobs are already irrating. AH(48) too but very annoying. Sigil(4x)and Asecent(52) are impossible to solo as its dps race toward the end. Sky gardan(53)is impossible to solo because the room mechanic require more than 1 person. Lab of Terror(57) is solabe because there is no dps mechanic but you need like +12 end game gears or so. Ebon tower(57) is impossible due to the last boss require people to kill adds and its dps race at the end. Fane(60) is not possible, first boss require some one doing the pillar, 3rd boss require some one to dps down portal and do the fire room. Balder its impossible period due to the fact last boss is dps race at 30% hp, you got liek 3-5mins to kill it before it instant wipes XD

So you told us that would happen?
I think he's got a point, look at all those other MMO's that have never had a single person quit and then post about it on a forum.
Look at it like elites. It's mobs around the world, in each zone with group quests. They are boss fights, usually pretty hard, even for a group.
They are usually soloable but takes a long time, and requires skill and dedication.
They are not your regular "elite" mobs from other themeparks. They have some nice mechanics, almost diffrent from each one, so you have to adapt and know the fight.
Ah thanks.
You say they are difficult for a group then in the next line say they are soloable,is this when you greatly outlevel them?
I just want to know because I am for the last year looking for that 'new' home in an MMORPG since I left EQ2.I will keep looking for a new home I guess lol.

omg this is what MMORPGs are about.. questing with other people...
If you want to play by yourself play a single player RPG... if you want to PVP pick up an fps style game for instant pvp action..
I don't see what everybody is attacking the OP for. The fact that grouping should be required is a design decision that could seriously hinder a game. It's all quite nice when you're in the initial rush. But when you're a few months late, for whatever reason, it can be really painful to find people to group with. Players level through the zones and don't come back much, if at all.
The defense that it's what MMO's are about, just doesn't cut it. If you can't solo them at a later level, or if your levelling hits a wall, just because you're trying to get into the game a year from now, then that could hinder longevity since you'll need new players.

Also to add to this there are other ways to make an MMORPG without having to literally, stop and ask for a group for xp, but I'm sure there would need to be more things to it.

Well, the point was that grouping IS NOT required. You can solo your way up to max level. The OP based the thread on a faulty premise that the storyline quests run out around level 27 or so when they force you to go into a dungeon. However, as we've already told him, you can skip that quest and the storyline chain will pick back up when he reaches the appropriate level, which he can gain through doing the other quests.

I just want to know because I am for the last year looking for that 'new' home in an MMORPG since I left EQ2.I will keep looking for a new home I guess lol.
/walks off into the sunset........
It's because of the way the combat system works. It isn't based on RNG, it's based on actions you take during combat, and almost entirely on the skill of the player. Just because a mob attacks you in this game, doesn't mean you are going to get hit. If you react quick enough, using dodges/blocks, or just making sure you aren't in the wrong spot at the wrong time, you can avoid damage from any mob, no matter how tough they are. It's based almost entirely on skill and reaction. So, although BAMs are difficult bosses, they can be soloed if you are very skilled at your class and avoiding damage, and if you've got about 10-15 minutes to spare per BAM.
And some BAMS are tougher than others. Some are difficult even with 5 people, and some are a piece of cake with 3 people. Just kinda depends on the BAM. I would assume that there are a few out there that aren't very solo-friendly.
I am on the Feral Valley PvP server which is not that filled and have never had trouble finding a group, being a Mystic I need to group a bit more than others. so I go to a quest area and if there are people fighting i ask to join and am welcomed most of the time or if no one is around I just go to area chat and ask for a group and People come quick-I am amazed how easy it is to group on Feral. That being said if you are into soloing you are going to have to lvl up a bit and go back and solo.
The whole game is meant to be social. Best example for me is how the repetitive mob bashing turns your mind on searching for someone to talk with in the chat for not being bored.

But really shouldn't even "normal" mobs have lesser version of the nice mechanics? I mean isn't that really part of the problem many people have with the game.
Either you fight a BAM which is interesting but maybe too much of a time investment. Or you fight boring mobs with little in the way of interesting mechaics and a more favorable risk/time vs reward.

Normal mobs do have interesting mechanics. Every one of them fights differently and has different special moves. They're just pretty easy, so the special moves they do aren't usually potentially devestating. Just add that to the list of things that TERA has going for it that nobody talks about because GW2 is coming out sometime in the future.
As to the question of BAMs being soloable, most are by most classes. It's just a matter of how much time you want to put into it.

I am going to ignore the GW2 part as nothing good can come of that.
Well that begs the question though. If they aren't dangerous why would they be interesting considering this is an action game?
You could concievably have a normal mob that can two shot you, but its normal because its attack pattern is predicatable or slow. Rather than simply having mobs with some special, but you aren't that concerned about them.
I mean for an action you kind of need to feel threatened, or at least I work this way.
And of course a BAM that takes too long will stop being interesting eventually solo even if you can do it.
So if you only feel threatened when you in a fight that will become boring due to length there may be a problem. Since you only have two unattractive options.

Because mobs, in the end, are made to be vanquished.
There are very few games that is is not true.
meaning taht they are there to regulate your leveling. They always have been. Darkfall is a bit different in this way as they will see you halfway across a field, descend on you and take you out. I kind of like it.
Getting back to Tera, as you level you find more dificult mobs. Sometimes you can get ino trouble if you accidentlaly aggro another group. Having said that, in this game you can actually still live if you play well. I had another group spawn close to me and had to contend with two. I was down a sliver of health but ended up winning the confrontation.
Fighting mobs in this game is a lot more interesting than other games. But in the end they are still there to level you. Besides, i think that ultimately the pvp is where this game should be.
At the moment the two popular pvp servers are High with the next one being medium. all pve servers are recommended with the exception of one which is always medium.
And if you go on these pvp servers you can see such life. I havne't seen anything like it in a long time. It's refreshing.

Ok wtf are u guys talking about. I'm lvl 50 now and i have to say. Ive never rely on a group to lvl. I did everything by my self, even with a story q. Ofc with some q i need a group for, but its really rare. I sometime even skip them and still lvl uneasily. With pvp, if u want to solo, its completely a stupid idea, ecxept if u are a really good player and know what u are doing, and i meant REALLY REALLY GOOD. And with pve, if u say its not soloable, well u SUCK.

I also enjoy the game but my character is only level 22,and if that is true that you cant solo your story quest after level 27 or so I will cancel the game.
