Perhaps, but what do you think about the reuse of npc graphics in TERA, that's what the OP was about.

SWTOR had twins and tripletts in many areas and in many cutscenes. I find it very annoying.

But what about TERA???  Did it annoy you there as well?

I haven't noticed to be honest.

No, I'm with you, until this thread came along, I never really noticed the issue now that my main is at level 37 I seem to be surprised at some of the interesting mob designs everywhere.

Yes, I know that all mmo's repeat mobs at different levels to some degree. They do however add new ones or some different  mechanic to add a degree of interest.

Some even merge these into a storyline....

Not so Tera, this has got to be the most uninteresting levelling experience I've had, and that's saying something compared to Aion at original launch.

How many Jesters can they stick in the game? Looking exactly the same, doing exactly the same, with exactly the same adds. Talk about cut and paste programming.

No wonder this game bombed in Asia. It just goes to show that you have to have some indpendent thought in addition to getting yourself sued by NCsoft

I dunno, to me it is a tough call. Trinity combats big disadvantage is boring predictable and tupid mobs.

As for the jesters, the world "merlock" kinda pops up from somewhere...

    Hi!

Are there any ranged mobs in the game that shoot somewhat fast?

I havent played the game yet but watched quite a few vids on youtube, but I think I never saw any enemy throwing some fast projectile at the player...

Those two mobs in the prologue shoot so slow, you can wait before just moving away. The first being this mechanical thingy with its round razor blade around its belly, swinging for hours before actually launching it. The other was this skeleton archer shooting an arrow that nearly stands still in mid air...

In general this game seems very melee oriented, also in regard for BAMs and Boss Monsters. Is that the case?

I am lvl 49 and look forward to playing everyday that I can.  Do I see the same mobs a lot?  Sure, but I still enjoy the leveling and the combat and the dungeons.  To me there is not game out right now that is better than this one.   To each his own.

Also look forward to the politcal systema and upcoming battlegrounds.

I disagree.  While most games just have mange and melee, doing effectivly the same stuff, this game at least has diffrent "moves" that certain mobs do.

Wile i agree that they recycle the mob types on the feild for the lowest of low mobs...each type having a diffrent animation to watch out for and appropriate counter needed...there are a whole bunch of larger mobs that do some pretty crazy stuff.

On top of that they have their BAM's which are like area bosses, and then "world" bosses which are more difficult.

Dungeon bosses are a blast, and while fighting them your using the entire areas space, no cornering the mob in the back and tank and spank.

I could see the op's complaint if he avoided all the larger and harder mobs (which can be soloed for the most part..it takes a while though) and missed all the dungeons.  Yeah then all you were fighting were boars/panther-things/ect trash mobs...and the variety is somewhat similair.

I remember the first time i tried to solo a naga...which is giant and in an area clogged with other nagas )and some giant fat-guy mob)...all went well untill the thing started randomly jumping all over the place, i aggroed like 4 other nagas who started jumping all over and it was a mess (i died).

Mobs that visually look diffrent do diffrent moves, and you can tell by looking at them usually what to expect as far as range moves, charges, aoe...however you wont know what animation leads to what move untill you try it.

I think a big factor is that people try to clear quests in areas before moving on, guranteeing you will be so far above the mobs you fight nothing will matter.  I had that issue untill around lv25 when i started just doing orange quests then filling in when the mobs got too hard, just to level a bit.  Much mor challanging when you fight mobs above your level and you need to dodge than if your 5 level above and can stand there and tank them.

I really couldnt disagree more with the OP and his follow up posters.  I get the feeling that they really did do two quests then uninstalled...or at least did the first line of quests on the nooby island.

I would also like to add that some of the combos of mobs make fighting them a bit more challenging.

Again, as a lancer I just don't have the damage that other classes have. Having said that it makes some fights like "fights".

Last night I wanted to go to one of the open world dungeons when I saw a quest from a guard. I decided to take it and do it quickly.

What ended up happening was me fighting a duo of creatures. One was more of a ranged creature and would leap into the air whiel firing down upon me and if I didn't block I'd be knocked down. The other was a close up melee creature that had no problems coming in close. The 14 of them that I had to kill were not a "bang out the 14 mobs and turn in" type of deal.

I had to be aware of what both were doing at any given time.

Now, if I was in a group this would obviously have been easier. But still, I haven't come across many groups of mobs in many games thave have given me such challenges as some of the mob groups that are in Tera.

Granted, these more challenging groups seem to be happening later in the game but in some ways that makes perfect sense.

With grim determination I am still levelling from the time of my orginal post. As for Jesters - well without putting in a spoiler, I'll just say that you haven't seen the last of them - doing exactly the same attacks, in exactly the same manner.

In fact, it doesn't matter what the general mob looks like, they all have the same attacks. And of course, to match this your character uses exactly the same kind of approach to battle them - over and over.

Checking back through my main characters skill progression (mystic) I've been basically using the same 4 actions for the last 38 levels. (My character is in the mid 40's now) :-

Send thrall in to group mobs - run in aoe - run round avoiding hits - run in aoe.

And that's it - over and over, mob after mob, level after level. All that happens when you go to the skill npc is that they upgrade your current skill set - lvl 5 to lvl 6, lvl 6 to lvl 7, lvl 7 to lvl 8 etc etc.

This could have been done by having the skills scale automatically as you lvl, but they probably felt as though they had to be seen to be giving you something.

So, it isn't a traditional Korean grind in terms on levelling pace, but it sure is in terms of a total lack of levelling variety.
