EQ2 is definitely hurting, so that's my bet.

Hey Troll, suprised you didn't put in Roma Victor.
Anyway my bets on Shadowbane before Everquest 2, that game is out-dated and the lack of players is just going to decrease its activity and fun even more and thats going to have an even more worse impact because the game is mainly focused at PvP, and with a lack of PvP activity everyone will just leave and thats it......
By the way, Horizons is building its community more and more with each month that passes, with its new improvements so I doubt many people should vote for it.
RV hasn't been released yet sparky, though it could be the next online game to fold. Best to wait til it launches before including it in the poll.

Lol, new you'd say something like it that about RV!!!!
Anyway I was joking mate, but I think I am right about Shadowbane, Everquest 2 seems still very popular, Shadowbane has nothing to fall back on!
Shadowbane has a mega problem which is it really has to rely on a populated player base, and seeing that it doesn't have one means its definitley going to go down hill if it isn't already because of the current low population!
Anarchy Online, I am not sure about to be honest.
By the way, you are definitley wrong about Horizons because its community is still growing!!!!
Yeah it probably will go down, but not before Shadowbane, I think!
Shadowbane, doesn't stand a chance, and Anarchy Online was never finished on release thats why.
Shadowbane relies on a high population to be a game worth playing. With the population slowly dwindling, a lot of people will probably decide at the same time that there are too few players, pvp (what makes the game) is too inactive so whats the point of sticking around, then the whole player base collapses instantly!
This is how the death for a pvp focused game comes about!
Horizons I wager. Imperatus, Asheron's Call 2.. what next? :
Horizons just has nothing to back it up, they only have like 2k subscribers (from what I've read on that MMOG statistics, could be wrong, don't quote me) and it seems like their numbers are dwindling.. Then Shadowbane, then Neocron'll probably be after that, along with RYL.
It's hard to say. I didn't think AC2 would shut down since there are games that are worse off like Horizons, Neocron, and WWIIO yet they survive some how.
WW2OL is not worse than Horizons, and it's not even on the same planet as Neocron in terms of subscription bulk and stability.
WW2OL is more comparable to Anarchy Online, in that they had a terrible release and have spent years playing catchup to get the game finished while coaxing back players.
WW2OL has a solid base of around 10k-15k subscribers, and it's been steadily growing for years.
WW2OL is stronger right now that it's ever been. They are having a worldwide re-release of the game in about a month that is expected to grab a lot more players.
They probably take a lot less to keep them going in terms of hardware, support and continued development. The magic number of subscribers that it takes to keep a game profitable is going to vary quite a bit.
lol first off AC2 was never up to begin with
it was screwed since release its a wonder it made it this far. AC2 was and still is a great game , this game will always be one of my favorites (mind you the first mmorpg i played was AC1 )
Turbine's moronic incompetance at handling this game from the very beginning doomed this game. So if you ask me what games are bound to flop next its gotta be DDO and LoTR. Maybe not LoTR , the legolas wannabes will keep that game going strong ala bnet kiddies and WoW
Look, its either Anarchy Online or else Shadowbane, without a doubt.
Horizons is a game which is slowly increasing its player base not dwindling, Tulga Games, did a good job in improving everything. The game is quite fun now, and definitley will last longer then some other games.
One that will fail for certain is Shadowbane! Reason is the player base is too small for it to be fun anymore! The game lacks in population and that only means its going to get worse because it requires a high population to be fun for PvP. I think they should just have 1 server so that everyone is in the same game world and everything is more active. The game is slowly dwindling and one day will collapse when players realise that the game world is just empty.
Isn't that sort of like saying that the only bad game they've made is AC2?
I'm hopeful for DDO, I'm hoping that they've learned from their mistakes (though the interview here didn't give me much reason to :-/). I think that the nature of D&D gives the game more potential for a fun adventuring environment than LOtR online. I'm looking forward to giving them a try though
Well I believe in the facts, such as never try a game before you buy it...but I don't like some of the features. Total Instancing for DDO will definitley have to be an exception.
But LOTR shouldn't have any instancing!! It should be one seemless game world, where everywhere is possible to explore without an invisible wall or else terrain which impossible to pass forcing your character to have to be forced to go one direction such as games like Guild Wars.
DDO can be made an exception because its just about doing quests, nothing else but quests....you are not meant to explore, just go in to a dungeon with friends and fight.
But sadly I still don't think that the current Turbine has the ability to make a good game. It seems that an inside source for the beta of LOTR told me that the development of the game is going pretty bad...beta testers are taking things too seriously and there is problems with cooperation. Doesn't look good.
My guess is Horizons - the pop just isnt enough to sustain the game - and Tulga wont be able to use the bankrupcy trick again. It really doesnt have the time to grow slowly - it needs to have a population explosion...
I think the new lore server will actually keep SB alive for quite a bit longer. It seems that a lot of previously subscribers are returning for it...
I thought about listing MXO in the poll, but SOE knew it was a lemon when they bought it. They haven't had to spend much on it and just wanted to offer it as an added value to enhance their all access pass sales.
EQ2 on the other hand has been a serious financial flop for SOE. It has failed miserably even though they have tried every trick in the book to make it more profitable. The problem is they have spent too much on it's production and players are not interested in sequels that don't offer anything new. EQ2 has not met expectations and still costs too much to maintain. It may take a while, but it will certainly fold before EQ1.

Hmmm Jorev you impressed me....for once, not so many theories, but the theories you have are definitley based on facts!! You are definitley right about EQ2, it will be a flop for sony!!
Edit: well its already a flop lol.....WoW screwed them!
And I hate SOE, like I hate Turbine!
Personally i kinda wish WoW was next to die. Not because it is a bad game (a little simplistic to play for much past 60 IMO though), but because of vivendi destroying it. The game is nerf happy now and they do not seem to have the staff to maintain bug fixes, let alone the GMs to handle exploiting. Nor the GMs to give you the loot from the various times no one can loot the raid bosses from bugs.
Overall i had slightly better customer service and bug fixes fgrom SOE than vivendi (not blaming blizzard really, "blizzard" hasn't existed since the staffing changes IMO) which is just a bad sign.
But, yeah. I hope it dies so that it doesn't start a trend in the MMO market. I don't need more business executives going "all we need to do is sell $50 boxes for a year or so and we can be rich! <repeat every year as necessary to buy whatever tax sheltered toy you want>"
Heck at this point i was at the store and i saw a game i was interested, noticed vivendi on the box and put it down. I won't be buying anything from them for a long time if again.
Sorry, but I really couldn't follow that...
What does Vivendi have to do with World of Warcraft and Blizzard having Staff problems?
They're not necessarily a bad company.. they just need to get their priorities straight and Blizzard keeps abusing hunter's bums over and over like they're trying to say, "*thrust* We're helping you *thrust, thrust*"
EDIT: Reason being they nerfed Mortal Shots, the pet healing skill, and pretty much everything else with a few paltry (and I mean paltry) like somewhat pet customization.
Again, tell me what Vivendi have to do with Blizard, I used to think Blizzard was a privatley owned company, till now!
So what does Vivendi have to do with Blizzard and WoW?
Edit - wow ok nevermind, I didn't know Blizzard was a part of Vivendi Universal!
Perhaps they're the ones publishing it? There's a big difference between producing and publishing where they need to meet certain deadlines -- If they don't make it, they ship it as is. (Can't be 100%, just what I think)
BLizz developed WoW. Then the concept was sold to Vivendi...actually Viv may have bought out blizz, i forgot exactly. Once Viv was invloved some key ppl from blizz games of past started leaving. Ever since the release of battle grounds the few remaining original blizz employees have been leaving also. Heck some of the original WoW team worked on GW.
At this point Vivendi just seems to be mi8lking WoW until they can develope some sort of replacment for the income. Diablo had its bug and all, but they were fixed (mostly) before major updates and such. ViVendi is trying to sell WoW on new content being added consistently. Unfortunately this is breakign the game in my eyes...you can only kill onyx so many times and not be able to loot her before you get fed up.
I don't even want to go into they philosophy of "2 nerfs and 1 buff per class = balance" o.0 their class adjusting seems to have no reasoning behind it a good chunk of the time.
