I've been playing TERA since CBT 2 and frankly I'm pretty disappointed with the way things have been progressing. I admit I can't wait to see the Queen of Argon patch 2 and get some block going on my warrior, but I was beginning to wonder if this is a trend.
Luckily it seems there's people out there who agree with me. Found this G2PO video that pretty much addresses my concerns to a T.

Am I right or just crazy?

What is missing on Tera? sorry i don't play it, just curious.
I agree considering Tera didnt release with PVP nor endgame, not only that but the other MMOs as well released with no end game or way to much grind... quite sad really.
It did release with PvP, just not the type of PvP you want. There is a difference.
Also everyone should know by now that no MMO is ever finished, since they constantly get content patches. If the only thing you don't like about TERA is the lack of BGs stop your sub until QoA2 and then resub again.
Lol no MMO is ever finished. An MMO should never release with half of its content lol, kinda flawed logic imo especially since the games been out in Korea for quite some time.
BGs didnt release with it, and neither did endgame content.
I thought Tera launched a yr ago overseas?
I would of thought they would of had most of their systems complete /shrug
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
They did launch a yr ago in Korea and they did have BGs. However they decided to revamp them.
Ah
I have read a little about the game, and for the most part those enjoying it seem to be having fun. Which to me is what gaming is about....grasbbing a title you enjoy n having fun. Not spending every day in a game forum of something you cant stand.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
6 max level instances with hard modes and raid style nexus' are not end game content?
Also, most games don't launch with BG's.
For instance, WoW didn't have BG's until over half a year after launch.
Because its fair to compare game from 2004 with a game from 2012 with all the computer entertainment and hardware evolvement....
What mmo has launched with only half its content? Just because TERA does not have a side feature like BG's that means half the content is missing? LOL
@ UP. So what You are saying is that they released Tera with all the content it SUPPOSED to have? Looks like not much of a content to me...
This is what I can't figure out about players.
It took WoW 8 years to get where it's at and players expect everything in a mmo at the start. I agree there should be the basics though being it's 2012.
At this point we are definitely spoiled, including myself. Players should learn to read what the mmo has before jumping in is all I am saying.
Anways it's called fund's, WoW worked years it to where it is now, these new mmo titles have to hit a high bar now with the playerbase or it's considered a failure. If the game can't keep 1 million active subs, it's also a failure.
I honestly think even Blizzard can't match their own WoW with another MMO title of theirs, oh wait, they do have the billions to invest in another mmo.
But the fact of the matter is this, I am glad we still have new mmo titles. We didn't have much of a choice about a decade ago. It was either you played Evercrack, Asherons Call, Anarchy Online, DAoC and Ultima. Before the year 2004, and there weren't as many mmo's as there are today.
All it's really missing is BGs. It does however have a deathmatch system which allows you basically set up your own 5v5 deathmatch bg and bet on it, but players are not taking advantage of it. We're used to hopping in and out of automatic queues by now.
Endgame content is there. I mean some games really do realease with zero endgame content. This game does have some, and the cool part is each boss fight is pretty difficult and the end boss fights are pretty intense. If one player is slacking you wipe. The fights take like 10 to 15 minutes of being on your toes in a group setting with action oriented combat. I've never experienced PVE as exciting as the bosses in TERA with it's non-tab targetted combat. I'm actually considering rolling a healer despite being burned out on healing by staring at hp bars in every single other MMO. Healing is action packed in this game, lol! And they just added another endgame mini-dungeon that takes 20 minutes (within the first month no less). And there's the Nexus, although it seems to be only a few hours a week for now while they work the kinks out.
One thing that sucks is you can't get a group easily through the dungeon finder because there's only one tank. Once they get the warrior tank going, that will elieviate a lot of the feeling of nothing to do because queues should be pretty fast for everyone. I'm surprised more Korean people didn't complain and get another tank set into the lfg tool.
It would be nice to see the community set up deathmatches on a regular basis. Not only is it like a 5v5 bg you can bet on, but you can watch it too. That could really bring the pvp community together. This and things like the Vanarch system are tools that the community can use to shape the game to their liking.
In any case, there is definitely more to come, and with most games that is just a promise. TERA has the advantage of being worked on by a couple different developers, both of which I believe really want the game to be good and have the talent. Some form of BGs were already developed, but I actually believe EnMasse when they say that the quality was not what they were looking for so they are overhauling them.
The game has enough to keep anyone occupied at endgame now, and the potential for more if people got into the deathmatch system. I don't think even the super hardcore guys that get to level cap in 2 days in every MMO have finished getting the best gear. So really I don't think you can say it's incomplete. It will have more soon as well.
And I just have to say I'm becoming disenchanted with mmorpg.com. TERA gets 7.7 and today you have someone telling you that you should pay 20 dollars for a closed beta of a moba. Not to mention the constant barrage of attacks from GW2 guys at release went mostly unmoderatted. I never thought this site was completely unbiased because it's loaded with ads, but it just even less so nowadays. Just my impression.
you're right its not fair to compare Blue Hole, a small studio with a very limited income and investor base, with a league giant, even PRIOR to their MMO launch.
I mean Blizzard was an established name, and they made oodles of money and still do, its really not fair to compare them, as clearly WoW could put more content in faster, yet still doesn't...
It seems to me most MMOs launch without basic systems and features complete or even in game. Yes, we are spoiled but I think that glaring holes in a game where something should be is easily recognizable. However I would know in TERA's case as I have never played it.
Is an MMO ever truly finished?
Playing: Nothing
Looking forward to: Nothing
since WoW popularized BGs:
LOTRO: not a tradtional PvP system, irrelevant
AoC: no battlegrounds
WAR: Battlegrounds at launch
Rift: Battlegrounds at launch
SWTOR: battlegrounds at launch
so 75% of MMOs where battlegrounds would be relevant have launched with them. Therefore, most games DO launch with battlegrounds.
Both games had very similar budgets, its not like TERA didnt have a very large budget.
No, some people just expect every new MMO to come with the same if not more bells and whistles as the previous MMO.
DAoC never had them, EQ2 doesn't have them, Darkfall doesn't have them, a lot of MMOs don't have them.
Is TERA as similar to Rift as DAoC is to Rift?
Or darkfall for that mater?
Ah now you see the problem, the idea of a battle ground system in an action mmo hasn't been done, its not something you can just copy, they have to think of what sort of BG's they want to put in their game.
75% of the MMOs you listed launched with BG's, there are many many more that launch without them, and never even include them years later.
There are some valid points made on this thread, but personally I think they just need to expand on their open world content ( outlaw system, GvG, make nexus better etc). Other than that I think its progressing rather well, I do disagree though with people who say theres a lack of end game though, I have plenty to do and so does my guild between GvG battles, dungeons, and the new nexus content [which can be rather laggy at times] I also havent even begun to dive deep into crafting.

II really don't want BGs to find their way to TERA.
It has a revolutionary combat (in MMO world, AoC didn't get even near) and it should leave BGs out. After all, what are BGs good for anyway?
Do you even know that TERA is the second most expensive mmorpg after SWTOR?
DUH do you even know what you're talking about?
When did Daoc and Eq2 launch? And Daoc had like the best pvp ever with a 3 faction pvp with sieges.
Darkfall is a sandobox.... pretty stupid to ask battlegrounds in sandbox i hope you understand that at least.
Battlegrounds for "decent" modern themeparks are a basic feature. There is no excuse for Tera to have launched without bgs. And the game is heavily suffering the missing feature. The pvp is lacking the game will bleed subscriptions pretty fast if they don't add bgs and more endgame content in the next month.
Sorry to break it to you but at the moment the pvp is going to die. Gvg are a joke: small guilds can declare war on bigger guilds kill a few enemies and go offline for the rest of the war to win. Not to mention that finding an enemy a boring chore: people is just farming instances and staying in cities.
The only "good" gvg are the one that get organized beforehand between two guilds. At least you can organize and find a good fight in one spot.
Tera has a big design pvp problem.... it really shows how the game is a pve centric game with a scrap of pvp attached afterwards.
Without battlegrounds a pvpers has to go PK and wanders the world for hours to find 2 or 3 good fights. There are no objectives, no sieges, no spots to camp.... the instanced channels destroyed the "random" pvp.
If you are a casual pvper and you have let's say 1 hour at the evening to play you just waste a huge amount of time just to FIND the pvp.
That's why tlaunching an AAA mmorpg in 2012 without a basic feature like battlegrounds as a huge HUGE mistake.
SPOILER
Why do battlegrounds exist?
Because people have limited amount of time at their disposal and want to maxime their fun in pvp.
Battlegrounds are a fast way to find enemies in pvp.
Yeah battlegrounds pretty much destroy OWPVP. It's true.
But Tera has very few owpvp to begin with save the occasional ganking and the organized gvg.
There are no sieges, no spot camping, no objectives... nothing to fight for. They even have channels.
That's why TERA needs battlegrounds.... and it needs them BADLY.
Or they could just the "other way". Full owpvp is fine.
But they have to make a design revolution. Delete the channels. Give owpvp objectives or introduce sieges. They have to do something if they don't want the owpvp to die like it did in KTera.
Any of the 2 ways (Bgs or full owpvp) is fine but they have to commit to one.
As it is now Tera has no clear idea of what the game wants to be.
Truth is, no matter WHAT your opinion, any amount of searching online will usually find other people with the same or similiar opinions of yourself...
Tera is a mmo, a mmopg, which by definintion means its never 'done', and while it may not be what YOU want, its still one of the 'top choices' right now. Tera by its own right will last at least longer than most games who fold before u even hear about them.
Just enjoy it and play, or don't and find something else.
