Don't you think that makes sense, at this point? Relatively few people are in the beta from sources other than Prepurchase. Also, they are the most passionate and vocal about it, and they managed to play the most, so far. Ergo, they are the ones with more stories and impressions to tell.I think we'll have more people from other sources in this BWE (at least, i've seen more giveaways and key offers than before, so far). I hope these people also tell their stories from the game.A myriad of opinions is always better than fewer. But I hardly believe that they will be more impartial. Opinions and impressiona are by definition subjective and, thus, biased.
I prepurchased to play the Beta with a friend who's a big fan. I found it wasn't really my cup of tea, but I wish them well.
That being said, the fervor GW2 has generated means that people who didn't like it may be keeping their opinions to themselves. The friend I mentioned literally can't believe I didn't like it, so we simply don't discuss it.

I think most folks in this forum prepurchased it, at least the regular posters.
Most? It looks like all... Hmmm...
What's the new conspiracy? We are all NCSoft shills? Come on, share with us. Don't be a killjoy.

I am monetarily commited to D3. I think it's garbage and just because I bought it doen't mean I will not be honest about it. I can see where you want to go with the statement but I don't think I see your point. I bought 3 copies so far so I also got in via prepurchase
The argument is that given a population, if you select those that are willing to prepurchase, they will on average have a more positive view compared to choosing a random selection of players from that population.. Keep in mind that prepurchasing a game with no release date requires larger psychological commitment than purchasing a game you can play now.

That's going to be difficult since we can't freely swap servers I believe, as the Guest function is disabled.

holy crap! we agree
edit - except for the impartial part.
An impartial person would be one with no preference in the battle of themepark vs sandbox and WoW-clone vs non-clones. Would be very hard to find if not impossible, I would guess.

True.
But it is also true that those who didn't prepurchase or got in the beta, or those who don't care about the game in the first place, shouldn't just post worthless posts just to bash and belittle the game (due to their hatred of ignorance).
It works both ways, those that are already commited will be a bit biased possitevely towards the game and those who didn't will bash and troll without any valid arguments at all. And it happens a lot on the GW2 forums unfortunately. On second thought, it happens on most gaming forums that support multiple games, this is the power of the internet.
Keep in mind that games with horrible betas also had lots of negative comments by those who played the them....
Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums
I won a key through the IGN giveaway on the first day. I tried all three times that day and the first two releases I got the key entered and it got used when I was making an account and then all the keys were gone. On the final release I lost my key making an account but got lucky and was able to get it on the second key I tried.

I hope it won't be the last. There should be somekind of high level content beta + some hands on time with the other races to demonstrate people that the game has the same level of polish everywhere and is indeed "done". Even if it's a limited press beta or something.
Otherwise they would be keeping a lot inside the bag and whether that's only rose petals and candy and no cats or bear traps would be anyone's guess.
The last time we've heared "It's done when it's done" was from Bioware but that didn't stop them from launching with a hugely underdeveloped Ilum and non existant world pvp mechanics throughout the game.
I signed up for Beta, thats it. I know a few websites hand out keys occasionally. The only one I can think of is PC gamer but I havent tried to get one. No I did not pre purchase, so no I have not played Beta.
You know, I actually like to find bugs in beta and test things out, and its not always just the great time I would be having playing the released game. Im a very patient person and I rather just wait. If they want me they can send me a key which doesnt look like thats going to happen, and thats not my lose. That's theirs. Because Im a fair tester I think.
I guess I kind of have an aversion to paying for something where Im doing a job for them. Ircks me. Of course these days beta testing seems to be more of a preview kind of thing. Which is less productive and kind of sad to me. Guess Im just old fashioned that way.
Anyways I cant possibly hate on anyone who did pre purchase. More power to you guys and gals. Its just not for me. When I buy a game I want to play it. Its mine. MY PRECIOUS! And I'll play it any time I want. But I wont pay to beta. Thats not a privalege to me. Thats work. Fun work maybe, but work. I dont expect to be paid for it, but I dont expect to pay for it either. But thats just me.
For the rest of you, have fun. Just please submit reports so the devs might find something they missed and fix it up before release. Please please please do this. Dont just play. TEST. Please test. Im begging you.
Bought the game. Followed it for YEARS. Am I supposed to feel guiltly like so many seem to thing we should for buying it?
F$ck no. I work for a living. $60 is NOTHING to me. You broke ass losers.
Yet still you somehow have to urge to be very defensive about your decision and pretty much out of the blue?
I think he's half kidding in most of the things he says which is hard to detect over the net. Or...well.....I hope so. I myself am mostly a "Broke *** Loser" though.
Im so broke all I have is moths in my pocket. And you know what those rat ***** have done? THEY ATE A HOLE IN THE POCKETS! And do you know what happens when I put money into those pockets? Yea it falls out. *bursts into tears*

But the problem with beta weekends is that they aren't really intended and suited for bug hunting. They are fan pacifiers, and yield overal impressions and press opportunities. So mainly marketing tools.
Chances are every bug you find will have been thoroughly reported by extensive, in house closed beta testing. It's the closed bag approach instead of the open bag one which Arch Age is employing.

BWE's do yield surprising amount of bugs reported. I was lucky to have a chance to talk with one of the developers during the first BWE for a fair amount of time (on the last available day). He told me (among other things) that they received a hefty pile of bugs they missed with their inner testing team and that BWE was a fairly successful in terms of bug hunting.

Preorder wasn't an option, so I voted pre-purchased. I didn't pay anything though (and yes I have a beta key).
I bought it! (and will unfortunately miss the next beta).

Sadly I will miss the next BWE aswell /cry
