Very hard to say their are only like 6 servers and those are eu and us no seperated servers but they are connected so 1 server is not like a wow server its much bigger. I think this is good since when the game should decline they dont need aggressive server merging.
I have yet to see a empty zone. There are people everywhere I go.
Not a hard and fast number I know but it's what's important to me. If you want a guess, there are way fewer servers than TOR had at launch and everyone is funneled into the same zones so I don't think it's anywhere near the player numbers that game had at launch.
On the plus side having one huge server with instances you can switch between means that there should never be issues with population imbalance between servers. Also everyone has a unique name so even if they choose to shut a server down in the future it has none of the tradational server merging issues.
Fifteen.
Is that US, EU or total?
The secret world only has one server there was a quote a while back saying that each dimension can hold up to around 200,000 people but obviously they would set the cap lower than this and seeing as there are 7 dimensions i'd say tsw has around 400k-500k players. Complete guess but don't be fooled by the small amount of dimensions because of the cool tech funcom has.
I'd put the estimate at below 200,000.
cmon guys move along, you should be playing the game not worrying about how many subscribers there are.
~O: troll face
I would put it 300,000-500,000 players, when subs kick in many will leave, when GW2 comes out many will leave so subscribers will suffer.
Not as many as are playing SWTOR or aion today because it is lower on xfire after the xfire fix.
Eve online has 400,000 subscribers and TSW is a bit above that but you have to count that since it is month 1 for TSW players play longer. Eve has more players on xfire is just they don't play as much as the game is 8 years old or so. So 300,000 to 350,000 players is my best guess. A far cry from 1.3 million projected by funcom. All AAA MMOs debut in the top 5 because of player's play time and AAA MMOs tend to sell a million so top 5 or close is expected, TSW is not close at all..
I'm curious as well. I'm hoping it stays a decent number, I'd like to play it at some point.
Does anyone actually have any solid numbers though or is this just going to be a pointless guessing game? :P
Our Dragon Cabal is active and playing and that's really all that matters. Im not too worried about numbers....Im pretty sure this game will scare off a number of "pop" mmo fans since it's a bit more difficult and requires a bit of patience and firguring out.
I was thinking 7-800k
inb4 zomg xfire lol trolls....
Personally I like using Xfire as a guide to the player base, but you will be bashed for mentioning more than likely... though I hope not..
Wasn't the 1.3 mill projection sales and not subs? Also Tera didn't debut in the top 5 did it?You seem to always want to shed negative words on the game.
Half that or less, is easy to compare TSW launch to SWTOR's and TSW isn't close to half of SWTOR"S by any measure, forum posts, xfire, preoreders.
Is sad because Funcom said they had 1.3 million bpeople ready to play.
Dimensions are filling up.. I would guess above 500k
I know, anyone who took any advanced high school math, biology. or business class would know better. As the head guy in caddy shack movie said, "the world needs ditch digger's too" ;p If you have a day of any college you have zero reason to discredit it.
there are only 800 people who got xfire to work... There was a dev post saying the are working with xfire to get it working.
if with that tsw is 18 and EVE is like 24... Sooo like I said about 700-800k It's only a little off AION. Not bad if the majority of the population can't get it to work
they projected 1.3 box sales though the year.
Keep trying though the game is a hit. No amount of hating can stop it
Here's the dev tweet
We received reports from players that say that the XFire client does not detect The Secret World correctly while playing. We are aware of this and are working together with XFire[...] Posted 1 day
Not sure about the exact numbers, but no matter where I go there are people running about.

read my above post. I do respect that you understand statistics though, Xfire is just an unsimple random sample. Xfire has one major error in that it is not random, but targets game players. gamer players play MMOs. All MMOs that claimed over 900,000 sales made it in the top 5 so it is pretty valid.
people still use xfire?lol
Your reaching, Swtor and AION are both out of the top 5. Don't reach just or create facts.
edit - I see what you are saying. The games that are and have been in the top 5 claimed way more than 900k though.
They released in the top 5 and both sold over a million. TSW released around 20. That is my fact, is there another language I can use to communicate better with you?
Click on any AAA MMO and xfire will say the highest ranking, age of conan, wow, star wars, aion, guild wars, etc where all top 5. Even with the new xfire. you click on a game and it states highest ranking #, on date.
English lesson: "made it in" means it was there at one time, in this case at the release when it sold around a million in a week. age of conan was there too but now around 100 four years after launch. "made it" has nothing to do with keeping players or being there today. (Fun Fact) I have a certificate from United States peace corps to teach English. Also, I suck at spelling.
Xfire doesn't even detect TSW for 90% of the players so that's a dead horse you're beating. An educated guess after seeing pretty much every MMO launch, TSW definitely has around the same number as Rift had when it launched.
Either way there are enough people around that I don't feel like I'm in it alone and that's all I need.
"Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas."
So TSW is the #1 game of all time, amazing. The bug was fixed and it got a 10% bump up. I have been using xfire for the last 7 years to buy underhyped games.
