I like the inventory system, It consists of one main bag where everything is held. The thing is you can make any number of other bags as small as 8 visible slots up to as many slots as the main bag holds. Each of these optional bags can be locked so that they and their contents are visible at all times.

During beta I kept one bag always open with all animas and potions that I might need to use. Another bag held crafting material. Another held runes. Another sigils, etc.

I used the main bag only as a place to receive new loot and to hold equipment I intended to break down for crafting material.

The inventory system is what you make of it. Leave everything in the main bag and be able to find nothing. Make several bags to hold different stuff according to your own cataloging system.

You know, every time I see a post like this, I throw up in my mouth a little bit.

And I have already pre-purchased GW2. Please stop driving people away from GW2.

    Thanks.

What is keeping me away is a hundred new freaking games coming out, and instead of trying them all and then keeping my favorite, I am just going to see which ones don't flop after four months. Tired of being burned, and Funcom might be redeeming itself with this game, but lets not act like they have a sparkling reputation.

I have given up on buying games unless I try them first. Whether it be a free trial or a friend's house. Diablo 3 was the final nail in the coffin for me buying blind.

I've read quite a few robotics papers that touched upon human emulation that stated that the closer we get to mimicking faces and movements, the more scrupulous observers become in detecting flaws.

Perhaps the models are in some manner victims of their own greatness. Every unnatural torso twist or odd looking stride is accentuated immensely.

I've read the exact same thing. And I do believe there is truth to it. At least in the sense that, while watching these bodies in motion, one can easily detect where the flaws are. It also mirrors a sort of experiment where in japan they took several different faces and made a composite. The result was an extremely beautiful but somewhat disturbing face that didn't seem "quite right".

And, I suppose, it's one of the reasons that some game companies stick with stylized art design. less of a chance of their game aging poorly and less of a chance that players might be aware of the "not quite right" avatars.

    good post. +1

Absolutely.  When I started gaming, on the C64, most RPGs were all text.  No graphics.  But your imagination was alive with everything.  As graphics were introduced, we filled in the crude display with what was really there (again, with imagination).  We're so close to the point that things will look as real as .. well real life, I think it's starting to affect some people.

I'm would love to see, just out of curiosity, when everyone started gaming in relation to how they are reacting to TSW.  There are always grey areas, but it would be interesting.  Yeah I'm a nerd.

Yet, the second and sequential days, my drive to play has severely decreased.  I enjoy the lore, the mysterious aspect of it, the story, yet these three things are immersion killers for me and break my desire:

    1) Combat animations and sequence specifically for AR and Pistols (not sure of others as havent really delved into them aside from Blades) seem overly clunky to me.  It's not just the animations per se, but the whole feel of it just doesn't feel cohesive to me...for lack of a better term.

    2) Story cutscenes: I want to watch these but some of the head animations and/or models are just freakish looking.  Example: in Kingsmouth, the guy at the skateboard park.  That guy looks totally unnatural to me and reminds me I am playing a game. Also, very noticable my character doesnt ever speak in any of these cutscenes.  I think I understandy WHY, but sort of breaks the immersion.

    3) Some really ugly unnatural looking player heads and faces.  This goes back to the character generator.  The choices are so limited (and frankly bad), specifically on the female side, that it annoys the hell out of me.  They  make the "people" not look like people but rather some weird monster/clown hybrid.

I really want to like this game.  I am very taken in by the whole premise of the game and I enjoy the leveless skill system, but these three things are putting me off and I just don't feel the desire to play much more.

Anyone else feel the same way?  Or is this just me being overly picky?

I feel the exact same way.  Cancelled my sub today because in this day and age, I just can't swallow how bad the characters and animation are, it killed it for me.  Moving on, but I totally agree with you.

Nothin different than the media telling you that you must have a blond girlfriend with orange peel spray tan, double d rack, IQ of 12 and that you aren't a man unless you biceps curl 50+ lbs and your cock is 9+ inches.

People want the best, cause their shit don't stink y'know
