Americans to blame for easy games?

sagilsagil Member CommonPosts: 291

According to this article, americans blame failure on the game and not themselves.

This has to be the single most stupid and bigoted response  I've seen in these forums.

Poeple are people no matter where they are from, some  are clever, some are stupid, some are brave some are cowardly, some wan't it easy and some wan't hard.  This has nothing to do with where you live or where you are from.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

Just look around, the most played MMOs in NA are single player campaign based games with instace crawling after the campaing is finished, just sit in towns, go to a queue, finish your instance and go to another queue.

Ez mode gamers do make up the majority of american gamers you don't need a statistical analysis for it to be true. The easy mode games that have come out are based on research and forum whining of "the hilariously inept masses" and crafted accordingly. You can be as insulted as you want but its not like its not true.

I wonder how well this thread would fly if we replaced the word 'Americans' with gays, women, or blacks... actually I don't even think it would last an hour before being removed or locked if 'Americans' were replaced with 'Italians', 'British', or 'Germans'.

He says Americans have a hard time dealing with Failure? Well obviously Americans deal pretty well with unfairness.

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.

You may be right. The American population on some of the games I like is slim.

Most americans are carebears, so it's their fault, all they want is to rush to level cap in 3 days and go to scripted instances in order to farm your gear to make this same instance easier next time. It's their fault that MMOs have become single player games in easy mode.

Well, guess it's a good thing I'm not most americans. But I am American, and I enjoy challenge.

Don't know if that made sense but I'm sticking to it.

Pretty sure either the Koreans or Chinese are responsible for a lot of easy-mode F2P MMORPGs because they care more about socializing than progressing through difficult content.  Maybe it was Perfect World, but I remember one developer saying they had to actually make the game more difficult to appeal to western audiences.

I think what we're doing here is once again confusing difficultly with timesinks.

I would agree with that assesment, I have friends that when you show them more complex game systems and processes ( I call it depth) that deviate from simplictic their response is thats gay.

If it takes time to figure something out then its "gay". if it takes along time to do something then its "gay".

Quick travel, face roll crafting, dugeon finders, leveling to cap in three days, ya seems like thats what so many players I know are looking for in an MMO these days.

  • LarsaLarsa Member Posts: 990

It's a very loaded discussion and the title you've chosen for the thread doesn't really help - the article you linked does not "blame" Americans, it says players "blame" the game for their problems.

I know little about the US education system, thus I do not know whether Don Daglow's comment has any merit. However, I know that over the years MMORPGs have become easier and easier and have almost eliminated all chance for failure. That might fit the bill, everyone's a winner.

I maintain this List of Sandbox MMORPGs. Please post or send PM for corrections and suggestions.

    You mean Russian not German.

Only reason America organized the second front was because they didn't want Russia to conquer the whole of Europe.

And the reason for that was because they didn't want to loose their trading partners which made them EXTREMELY rich during the war.

Yes, lets blame those damn yankees because as everyone who ever visits a forum knows, Americans are the only ones who actually buy and play games. The rest of the world would never even bother to touch a game in their lives. Also, to the posters who would like to classify any group of people as being one thing or another, you are only making yourself look ignorant. Honestly, why is it so hard for everyone to understand that the world is made up of many different types of people and everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

    image
I'm sorry but the only one saying anything about the second coming is you. Fans of a game accept its flaws and strengths.

    Archie: Winners, like North Vietnam?

Really pisses me off when people constantly bash Americans :(.

Here's one Brit who loves you guys!

As for the OP, the link just read like European snobbery.  Anti amercanism is rife in Europe.  I don't know why...

No, they are often German publishers of american or korean made games. Swedes, greeks, bulgarians and possibly more to come are mostly popular for their sandboxy games. Sure, I despise FFA PvP loot, but I think I have played too much WoW to get into it.

    Just lol that was good.

Aside from all that i have to say i like how everyone thinks they are elite and everyone else is stupid so it begs the question then where are the stupid people? I believe those to be ignorant statements because everyone has stupid moments but are quick to judge the second they are not the ones making the mistake to (i think) recoup their own failure before hand and prove their "eliteness". Everyone makes stupid decisions, buying games like pre-ordering a game for 150+ dollars they never played and only play 3 days to find they hate it is an example of such a situation BUT and i mean BUT NO ONE is stupid for liking a game and you are ignorant if you think so.
