Predictions-First to Level 80?

JagaridJagarid Member UncommonPosts: 415

I am curious how fast people think the first person will reach level 80 after the servers go live.

My guess is sometime late Monday night/Tuesday morning, PDT.   I just don't see it being doable in less than ~80 hours or so.  Some of the nifty tricks for fast leveling that have been used in past MMOs do not work in GW2.

I acknowledge that there are probably other tricks that I haven't imagined that do work though.

What do y'all think, how quickly until the first person reaches level cap?

Disclaimer: This thread is just for fun.  No need to post saying "who cares?" or "anyone rushing doesn't get it".... I would agree with you, but that isn't the point here!

I'm 100% sure of two things.

    1) there will be a level 80 before the end of the 3 days headstart.

    2) it will NOT be me.

You can feed others crafting mats for the profession to pretty much give them 60 levels for free. Athene style. I'm thinking someone will be 80 through normal leveling and craft feeding by late sunday.

Me neither.. I plan on taking my time to.... just soak in the fact that it's live and enjoy every step of progress! :D

There were 80 levels at the end of the BWE2, so they will level even faster with highier level areas.

Such a pointless rush and waste for those people :), i have been waiting this game for more than 5 years, why would i even rush to level up, i want to listen to every npc and explore every inch of tyria slowly.

Or you can see it like this: what's the point in NOT rushing. Since you can't out level content but still will dominate in wvw...

You and me both, you and me both.

I don't expect to see level 80 until near the end of the year, if not longer.  Between taking my time and really exploring and alt-hopping, level caps are a long, long ways off for me.   My favorite part of MMOs is the exploration and leveling though, always has been.

I do find it fascinating how quickly some people power to the top though.  Hence this thread.

    Within a couple days.

Some are simply relentless. Followed shortly by making a topic stating: OMG Lvl 80 Now What am I Supposed to Do?

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Before official launch, for sure. If a guild cooperates to supply materials, they could get a crafter to max level very quickly.

However, could someone get to the final dragon in terms of the storyline by that point? Not clear.

on topic tough......the only thing i'll be doing is having fun....nothing more or less......could care less if anyone makes it in 24hours to 80 (these will be the first to bitch about the lack of content as asual but didnt even half of whats out there)

Hate to say this but who cares??

The upper limit is 120hrs, since Anet has confirmed that a level shouldn't take more than 90 mins (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Frequently_Asked_Questions#Levels). So by simple account sharing to play 24/7, and enjoying the game fully the way it is meant to be played, should take only 5 days. I think 80hrs is severly underestimating those hardcore people. My bet is 48 hours.

That's not really an upper limit though, I assure you for some of us it will take more than 120 hours.   Their numbers certainly don't include people "wasting time" (i.e. not getting xp while playing), which does happen when you spend a lot of time just exploring and a lot more time just socializing.   I'm certain of this because, I can assure you it took me more than 90 minutes per level in the BWEs and I never got past level 15 with any character so was at the lower levels that should be faster.

That being said, that 120 hours is a good base line, so if you assume the total hardcore people are going to power through it nearly 3 times faster than the base line, 48 hours is a fair bet.

It's too bad we can't start a pool and gamble on this.

There's another thread with the same title somewhere. I'd say as usual in all mmo's that come out, someone will be playing in shifts with others on an account and get max level before the official release date on the 28th.

Is there?  I fail at using the search then, cause I searched for "level 80" "max level" and "level cap" and didn't find anything.

My bad if there is one.

I used to be one of those people that rushed to max lvl in a mather of days. Now I still play the same amouth of time, but I actualy enjoy the game instead of wasting a good game by rushing! My guess on when the first person is reaching lvl 80 is "to soon"

Well at least in GW2 the content is not wasted, he can start playing in lvl 1-15 areas once he is lvl 80, he will be downed to the lvls of the areas and still have fun i guess.

Doesn't interest me because I'll probably be last to 80 enjoying the ride.
  • NicooNicoo Member UncommonPosts: 236
1½ day. You can make level 80 under 30 hours if you know how to. And there are probably some that will do exactly this.
