Then I read about the combat... Sounds arcade like and nothing like a normal MMO. Everything about the game sounded great up till I read the combat. I also saw a video with a jumping puzzle.
I hate jumping puzzles even more. Hate game console style play.
So alas this game isn't for me.

Where do you live in a cave that you just found out all these info?
[mod edit]
Can you explain what you mean by Arcade like combat?
To me that means punch & kick combo's ala Street Fighter.

I hope you didn't just read about the combat when there are hundreds of videos available.
Actually, you don't come off as sincere.
This^^
It plays like Gauntlet. GOD I WAS ADDICTED TO THAT SERIES!
BOOYAKA!
Wow that was close, you almost made a good purchase for a second there...
I hope you find what you're looking for goodluck.
Whew.
Sounds like you dodged a bullet there.
"Loading screens" are not "instances".

+1 for making me lol.
Yeah this game is just like God of War.
Here OP. Watch this jump puzzle and tell me the game isn't awesome!

Combat is not arcade like. It has enough in common with standard MMO combat to feel familiar, but it's more dynamic, tactical and fun. You have to really play the game to appreciate it.
As to jumping puzzles. I hate them. I've always hated them. They are a very small, very optional part of the game. I'll try them. I did fine with the less complicated jumping puzzles associated with some of the vistas in the game, which has helped my confidence. If I can't do them, or find them too frustrating to have fun doing them, so waht. The game offers more content and things to occupy my time with than you can imagine.
There are so very few Gems in the MMO genre, that for any fan of MMOs to pass on this game due to pre-conceived notions or a bad first impression would be an absolute shame.

My suggestion is to pick a profession and watch a spotlight video on YouTube that runs down all their abilities. If you watch a few professions you'll see that each has distinctive aspects outside just 10 abilities.
Fixed that for you OP. For some of us, the 'Normal' types of MMO's are just not what we want anymore. Kthnxbai
The Deep Web is sca-ry.
Yes! Gautnlet: Dark Legacy for the Gamecube is probably my Top 3 most played/liked games of all time... sooo much time spent in that game just messing around with all the classes. I may just play it again for the next couple of nights until Headstart.
To the OP - I hope you don't make a lot of decisions in life based soley on just what you read/hear. I'm not sure how you read about combat, and then not play because of that? I could understand trying it out and not liking it.
You are making assumptions on the combat strictly from reading about it? You should actually try it. Nothing can prepare you for the true suckiness of GW2 combat like actually making yourself try it. I've had more fun at a colonoscopy.
I'm sorry but the combat in this game is nothing like an arcade game. You are really missing out on a good game. My jaws dropped when I saw how the combat played out.
This game is going to be the king for a long time. Honestly you should buy the game and try it out before judging it on youtube videos, you are very mistaken if you think the combat sucks in Guild Wars 2 and you're making a big mistake by not giving it a chance first before judging it.

The game is really good. Great quests. Interesting combat system. Unique world.
Where it really fails however is in grouping. Yeah instanced dungeons are fine. What I'm talking about is I have a buddy and we like to play together. World quests are mostly ok but there are many instances while questing. All of these instances are single player. Really breaks up your grouping when questing is constantly interupted with single player instances.
Two things in my opinion are needed in this game as high priority.
1. Make all single player instances work with a group. Make all quest updates work with a group. Some things give group updates but some don't and the click item is sometimes on a freaking timer... So you gotta wait till everyone gets it. Instances should take the group just like dungeons. Maybe even add a few hitpoints to the mobs to up the difficulty a little.
2. Add a lfg tool for instances. Everyone yelling in LFG channel is getting old. It also isn't much fun sometimes trying to get a group. Just doing the lfg yell thing discouraged making the effort.
Oh while I'm at it one more thing. The light and dark tokens. PLEASE give some items that can be purchased with one of the other not require both all the time. I'm not a fan of PVP and it's frustrating I have all these white marks that serve no purpose.

Hey OP, Guess what game fixed all these issues you hate. You got it.
Anyone can join any DE, Karma purchases all sorts of items. EDIT: Oh, and sidekicking down to your friends ensures you can always play together. Forgot that one.
Am i doing it right?

Could you direct me to the forum where you say positive things? I'm dying to know what that sounds like.
