I've held off from purchasing this game until just this past week.

    So why then............

Do I feel like a grade school kid on Christmas Eve with the anticipation of this launch???????

    AHHHHH!!!!! HELP!!!!

Well on one hand its a minor expense, and no sub fee means it won't hurt your pocket book any more than buying a single player game.

But on the other hand if you buy it and find you don't like it, you've just rewarded a company for producing a product you don't care for.

Unless you are just bladder bursting anxious for something new to play I'd recommend putting the Kool-aid down and backing away slowly. The game will still be there in a couple of weeks and waiting will let you see how it does in the wild and let you better judge whether you really want to play it or not.

If you're "scared" you might be disappointed, just cancel and wait 2-3 months. I find it a wise move one way or another. You never lose anything by avoiding a launch and the first weeks or months.

When gamers abhor EA for passing the buck, then turn around and pass the blame for the market (to other gamers!) they just show how silly this whole tainted line of reasoning is.

yes but it was clear from the get go SWTOR was bad.. all the videos showed the terrible graphics and the betas proved it and showed how much of a WOW clone it was. Apples and oranges.

I should add that unfortunately many many many SW fans would see reason before release and those of us trying to help.. sorta got slaughtered on the forums.

Uhgg you got slaughtered for the same reason desenters get slaughtered over here, your definition of bad isn't universal. Trying to help? Give me an effin break.

you questioned whether I was trying to help or not and said thats why I was slaughtered.. thats pretty much saying its ok for that treatment. IMO trying to provide an unbiased opinion and comparissons are helpful and I have found many opinions on the forums helpful. So yes I WAS trying to help.. why else would I bother? I am not so 18 yr old kid looking for a high by causing dramam on the forums. I actually give a shit about ppl.

No I do not think it's acceptable,  nor is the slaughter you were alluding to. I also do not think it's right to tear into a poster for having negative views,  I still think it's ridiculous to try over and over again to convince others what they like is bad.

I made perhaps 2 posts before it got ugly... it was actually the reason I wasnt taken seriously when I first started posting here(because of my low post amount).. and perhaps why I was treated so poorly there but then again from what I saw it wasn't just me getting treated so badly for calm posts like my own.

Like I said the same thing happens in this forum, it's all the same thing.... IE people getting overly emotional about opinions, positive or negative.

This reminds me of 11-10-11 right before midnight as me and 40 other RPGers/TES lovers sat outside best buy waiting to get in and get the damn thing. Similar conversations were held. "I know how you feel man. I cant wait to get my copy"...and I got a ton of free soda. Took home like 6 cases of coke.

Sorry but bullshit argument on your part. Main reason? This post was aimed only at GeezerGamer, who has been highly critical of this game (and A-net) for quite awhile. And now seems to be getting excited about the game not because of its features but because of the hysteria surrounding it making him anxious he might be missing out on something. Which has the potential to lead to him feeling he was ripped off, when it was really his own lack of self control that made him buy a game he has seemed to dislike for the past few months, and not A-nets.

As to the whole "stop blaming the consumer" argument, that's really a topic for another thread. But I will say that yes the consumer does hold some of the responisbility for the kinds of games that are marketed, and if some continue to purchase games they don't really like due to boredom or just lack of self restraint, then they do hold at least some of the blame for companies continuing to make games that aren't really what they want, so profitable.

Yes, my history indicated skepticism around GW2. I never said this game sucks or said that I wouldn't like it. Only because of my lack of faith in anything Corporate America has to offer did I hold my self off. But if you read into the thread, I explain what changed my mind. It wasn't mass hysteria.

If I put this game down feeling ripped off, I'll have no one to blame but myself. I know that, There's no one here that I can point a finger at. And no one pointed a gun to my head forcing me to buy it. I bought it on my own based on what I consider to be an informed decision after I saw some evidence that reassured me of one of my main doubts.

I will also admit, that I've begun to allow myself a sliver of belief that maybe there is something here.

    It's a good catch phrase.
But I'm not sure I personally subscribe to it.

Seems to me, that would just make me an ignorant fool instead of moderately informed.
