The fact that arenanet doesn't force me to pay for what I believe is the best MMO out there makes me want to pay  just to support them. Even though there's hardly anything in the gem store that I even want.

If WoW was released today even in its' entirety it would be f2p in 3 months.
Why is it still such a big deal?

Yeah, pay for the equivalent of 3-4 new games (the company gets the profit of about twice that number) each year and you won't even see the content of one new game.  Awesome format there...if you like getting ripped off.

Is it really awful if you never end up spending anything in the cs or less than $15 a month and the game still gets regular updates? Assuming of course you enjoy the game. How is that somehow worse than p2p?

You see!  Unlike other games you just purchase GW2 and never have to pay again!!!!

I'm going to splurge on the shop now!!!

    Nope

But I will give thanks to everyone who will subsidize my play. =)

It's important that we as players do our best to support the developers who deliver products we enjoy.

I will support them by buying expansions. Not interested in cash shop though.

I've budgeted for a cash shop allowance seen as I'm not paying subs anywhere anyways ;)

Not much I want from the cash shop though... I guess it'll be dyes galore!

Same here.  I intened to buy all bank and bag slots right away and then spend a few dollars eveyr month on Dye.

I gotta buy storage slots/character slots for 3 accounts so I'll be supporting plenty tonight. I expect to spend at least $50-$100 a month after that for all 3 of us.

Wow, i've never seen someone get milked so much while being happy about it!

Damn P2P MMOs, so much greed... or not.

CS MMOs always end up being more expensive that P2P MMOs, Arenanet are really geniuses, they get people to spend more while making them believe that everyone else are greedy bastards.

EA, learn some PR from arenanet, we have people here spending 200$+ dollars on things that are free on every other game.

Honestly, it's hard to imagine spending 10 bucks a month on GW2 if you have all the bogs/slots/etc for one account.  I can't see how you could spend 20-30 bucks a month.  After the cosmetics the other stuff is really pretty dang lame.

Personally, I'll play the game first to see if the bags are even worth it...though I don't particularly like the bag system (buying it for each character...ick).

I could have been convinced into spending more money in the CS if the T-stone system wasn't so awful.  Right now, I doubt I'll buy much of anything for a month or two.  Maybe a character slot or bag space bit by bit at some point if that is helpful, though I'll try to get it with in-game gold if that isn't a huge grind.

I'll buy gems monthly I'm sure since I don't plan to play anything else. I mean, I can drink a 5.00 java chip frapachino in a half hour if I'm milking it. I figure things I can use longer, pixelated or not, is worth just as much.

    I intend to.

I prepared to spend a small amount in cash shop to help them if that game keeps me playing for a while.

edited : as it stands it will keep me playing but we never know if they change direction on the game or not later down the road.

I have planned to buy some character slots, and bigger bank slots., the other items are not the type i want.

But bag space and bank space is what i need, i remember in bw3 how much time i had to leave the battlefield to get to a vendor and sell the stuff i had pickup. omg way too much time.

Have you noticed you can "disenchant" items into crafting mats, and then send all your crafting mats to your bank with one click?

I already supported them by buying their game. If I like it, I will support them again by buying their expansion.

I feel no obligation to buy ANYTHING from the cash shop. If I do buy something (and I probably will), the decision is based upon the quality of the item I am purchasing alone, not some moral obligation to support a game company.

Absolutely, I never have much self control when it comes to cash shops so it's a given.

No one who plays GW2 is a freegamer.  Everyone paid for it.

I rarely shop in cashshops out of principle, but maybe a few char slots and some bank space if the game still have me interested a month or 2 from now.

I will also get the expansions of course, but I will only put more money in the game if it continue to be fun.

I have already bought all boxes ANET have given out before and liked them but never got anything from the cash shop. I just dont like cashshops and I will not buy any skins, keys or similar stuff from it.

As of right now I'm planning to add $10 every month like a cheap sub but the problem is there's nothing in the cash shop I actually want, and I wouldn't trade gems for gold since I find I get enough just playing anyway. We'll see. I'll probably just end up waiting until they release expansions and saving up for those instead, unless they decide to let you fight while in costume, then I'll spend money on costumes too. Right now, you can't fight in them, they're purely for RP purposes (come with their own non-damage skill sets) but it's sort of a waste of inventory space. Not worth the cash for me.
