Who cares about 80, you can get 80 by doing PvP. What I am waiting for is the first person to get 100% map completion.
WildStar is like if Ratchet and Clank had a baby with Beyond Good & Evil and that baby was raised by World of Warcraft and Spore and babysat on the weekends by the aliens from Space Jam. It's an ugly bastard worth a few laughs but not much else.
Why would anyone be proud to power level to 80 in a game? It sets a bad example to everyone actually. The subtleties are what makes games enjoyable not the grind. If you aren't taking the time to enjoy the small things along the way and pace yourself you're doing it all wrong.
The people power leveling to 80 will be the same ones complaining in a few weeks that they are bored and have nothing to do. Well no kidding you idiots you blasted your way through the entire game like it was some kind of race.
This must be your first mmorpg.
This game is aimed squarely towards the people who want to race to endgame but then dont want to have to gridn anything at endgame. Should be interesting as more people hit 80 to see how much people really hate having to do stuff to get better at level cap.
Oh wow I think you completely missed the point of the game. I’ve been playing MMO’s since Ultima Online. You?
So your point is that the game was designed so people can grind/power their way to 80 so they don’t have to grind when they get to 80? Do you see how stupid that sounds?
The reason they made it the way they did is so that IS ENJOYABLE at all levels. That's why people are saying the entire game is endgame. Being 80 doesn't make the it end game it just means you're at max level. Powering your way to 80 is like watching a movie on fast forward. Yes you can brag you watched the whole thing in an hour even though it took other people two hours but did you really enjoy it at all? It's so stupid and it only done as a competition and nothing more. It pretty much counters the entire point of the game which is to make it more "fun" and less grindy.
There will always be players like that though.
Ever heard the expression "stop and smell the roses?" Try it some time.
"[Update: ArenaNet's Mike O'Brien spoke on Reddit to say that this person's level 80 achievement was done by "unusual ways to level very fast" and that the team is "fixing these issues as [he] type[s]."]"
So it wasn't intended for a crafter to sit and craft his way to 80 in 32 hours but it was legit. I thought it was a good thing to have PvE, PvP and crafting as seperate viable ways to level. I imagine that what ever changes have been made will put crafting in line with PvE and PvP on the amount of time it takes to level.
This was am anomily, not something easily replicated. DependIng on how many guild mates were feeding him mats that's the ratio of people that could pull it off.
Even then this proves nothing since GW2 overall design isn't about level 80 then endgame.
tears are great. However, even though I don't care much about GW2 at this point, still into leveling on other MMOs.. I can honestly say I have been the "first to" max level in numerous games/server launches. I can also say, during those times I was either a.) unemployed or between jobs b.) didn't have a female companion and c.) took a 2 week vacation from work. So needless to say, if someone wants to "excel" as you say to reach max level first... more power to them.
Reference if you want to check up validity.
Komm-Draka
Komm-Auto Assault-First maxed out shaman.
Chiram-Veeshan-EQ classic, first known 50 druid. First to max after two following expansions. (Fires of Heaven Member)
Chiram-First druid to 60 in WoW, second worldwide.
Chiram-Bureaucrat-Anarchy Online. First to max level, also subsequently first to be suspended upon review of leveling speed because the nearest level ( fixer ) was 58 levels behind, had his whole guild reporting me.
DAOC-Chiram-Pak Cafan member, Lurikeen Enchanter. First worldwide to max. I later sold this account ( sadly).
So what does all this mean? Like I stated above, it takes a lack of overall responsibility in ANY aspect of life to hit max level in an MMO first ( at least for a set period of time). In today's world, I have a child and career so the only way would be vacation. Back in the day, I was a bum... much like most of the hardcore gamers today. I chose gaming as my primary concern in life over health, family and sometimes friends.
Quite impressive. Now, be honest. Did you cheat in AO?
No, they reinstated my account later and gave me 5 free months of play time, after which I rather lost the drive for the game. Came back after shadowlands expansion. (which I still rate as the best expansion in any MMO to date)
yes and if you look in the chat screen you see (Vous avez joué avec ce personnage pendant 32 heures 1 minute au cours de ces 1 derniers jours) in short you have played with this character for 32 hours and 1 minute for the last 1 day..
Didnt know you can played 32 hours in one day.
Yeah, that part kinda threw me for a loop too.
I think they do their math by calculating since august 28 because i had 28 hours in 1 day too
Todat at 4:46 PMT I bill brown am still trying to figure out how to take a screen shot, and why there is a damn bear chasing me! I don't get it either, cause when I stop running it just stops and looks at me?

I will update my status when I lose the bear and get dressed. Stay tuned.
(PMT, that doesn't sound right, but I'm buzzed so who cares)
dont really matter cause at every release at every mmo there is always some jobless dude or gal who dont have any resbonsibilities to anything else than devout to be there first so whats the point of regognizing these afterall? eh?

Actually, you were wrong.
He was in headstart access on Friday night.
