I haven't even had time to pick up GW2 and it's already dead?

Idk...Majority of the people I talk to in F2P games say WoW had the smoothest launch ever with no issues...Then again Im expecting them to treat WoW launch as 3 months after release...
Well..The guild wars 2 forums seems to think that 1m prepurchases mean fail...and TSW forums are filled with that too o.o with its, and I quote, "Lowly 300k subs".

GW2 failed
it just launched 3 days ago ( that if u consider head start a launch) But anyway am gona argue it with u
WoW had a pretty horrible launch, massive queues, server outages, etc. It says something when Everquest 2's advertising campaign was basically "come play our game, it actually works".
WoW's launch was horrible. Even a year later, the server woes were attrocious at best.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
Rift. Very sucessfull mmorpg for Trion.
Don't know how TERA's doing for enMasse at this point.
Most likely, low to middle budget mmos that don't require high amounts of box and/or subs/playerbase.
Like some have already said, WoW had a terrible launch. I remember tho from previous threads and my own experiences that Final Fantasy XI and Guild Wars 1 may have been the only "smooth launches" in MMO history.
And you shouldn't believe everything you read from forums.

From the perspective of stupid opinions people have then you could say every MMO has "failed" at launch.
...and would be the point of that? Nothing.
FFXI
As a matter of fact i get miffed when i see developers shutting down servers every week for this so called maintenance.I played FFXI for 8 years and only ONCE did the server go down,Earthquake is a pretty acceptable reason i think.I never encountered a single bug, geesh i really never had a single problem ever,so go figure i was a very happy gamer.
Now to be fair FFXI did a have a full year to release in JPN.but so what? All i care about is the release they did here, especially when you figure that was a console game and the release here was a PC version. The Console was delayed for Hard drive orders/needs.
I was not there for the release of EQ,i joined later as i was an avid Unreal fan at the time that started in 1998.So perhaps Eq had a decent launch but judging by what i saw from SOE games is not likely.Bugged animations, mobs underground, getting stuck, map glitches, you name it .
I would say Rift was decent but in line with MOST devs cutting corners on cost made for a poor server structure.Outside of being cheap on servers,i did not witness any problems in RIFT.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Only SWTOR.
The rest are good games for diffrent audience. Some for kids some for more mature players.

The above is my personal opinion. Anyone displaying a view contrary to my opinion is obviously WRONG and should STHU. (neener neener)

WoW *
Although WoW made billions of dollars it was a terrible game. Imagine before eating at 5 star resturants and then McDonolds comes a long becomes the most successful resturant of all time. Then outragously all the 5 star resturants try to compete with McDonalds and started serving burgers and fries. Suddenly you couldn't get a good Filet Minon to save your life. That has been the pretty much been the history of MMOs.
Dude, I think you're right.
there is a lot taht didnt fail UO dint fail but what is fail to you is not a fial to others
Whoever told you that WoW had a smooth launch LIED! My Grandfather used to say, "Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see." Those are some good words to live by...
GW2 hasn't failed that is just silly.
Rift has been successful.
Philosophy of MMO Game Design
According to the forums, its the biggest failure in the industry.
Rift is supposedly in life support.
Umm...Yeah o.o Im just going by what the forums say! :O
