*Graphics are actually not too bad a lot better than in closed beta, bump mappnig and spec maps but still not close to TSW or AOC.
* Character creation process is quite nice and kind of remids me of some old school rpgs where you created a character by selecting different backgrounds. I do think it could ahve been a bit more in depth but its nice.
Bad Points
* Very very very very boring heart quests, that have taken the standard kill or collect quests and made them take twice as long and boring. Good job
* So called dynamic events and not really dynamic other than the time they happen. Well this is the case in the first few zones I have been in. Only lvl 25 so far so still got a bit to go. Also some of the dynamic events are just as bad as the heart quests.
* Exploration would ahve been great fun except everything is clearly marked on the map for you so its not really exploring its going to points on the map where you know things are.. what a let down.
* Combat is just generic tab target stuff, in PVE you just kite everything, in PVP it dont matter how much thep erson im fighting tries to dodge or move out the way my gun shots hit them every time.. I was under the impression it was suppose to be a bit more action based but its not.
* Queue times are silly, both for getting into a normal zone and for the WvWvW pvp they should ahve realised somthing like this would happen and done somthing about it. WvWvW is the main part of the game and at the moment there is usualyl a 30 min wait and then when you do get in at times it can be very unstable and the cliant will crash. Of course when this happens you have to queue back up again.
Also im not going to mention any bugs as bad points as all MMORPGs ahve bugs at launch. In a few weeks time ill write up a proper review explaining my views a bit more. At the end of the day for me its not a bad game for a standard tab target themepark game but its certainly not living up to the gigantic amonut of hype this game had.
I mostly agree with your points, except the heart quests and dynamic events somewhat because the good outweight the bad. Combat is also something that I enjoy very much, but I do understand its not for everyone.
But I do want to let you know that exploration isn't broken, the vistas and interesting points are labeled, but there are many hidden areas with Chests and Champion mobs and Veteran Mobs in every map that is not labeled or explained.
I have found 1 chest in the starting area for Charr behind a waterfall, another chest in the 15+ area Disea Plains or something like that, and an Underwater area with puzzles in another. And none of those was labeled, I just went there because I thought it leads somewhere else, and stumbled on it. A very tough fight, but I managed to survive.
Also it seems that if you spent sometime in the water, you might also find some hidden chests.
So don't feel like by completing the map you have explored everything there is to see, because I was pleasantly surprised when I found those areas.

What bothers me about the game itself is the name.
It should be named "Arena Wars" or "Dragon Wars"
It has absolutely no guild wars, no guild conflict.
Ive not seen anything even planned in the game to create guild conflicts and or wars.
Personally my absolute favorite themepark and sandbox "endgame" activity is a non factional guild vs guild mechanic. Typically involving territory wars and seiges.
I saw in another thread the only thing planned for guilds is a guild hall....i mean wtf "guild wars 2" and all your going to have is a little house for all your guild memebers to play house in?
It is not called Guild Wars because of Guild vs Guild combat. It was named Guild Wars from the lore of the game. This was taken from some lore of the game regarding the history of Tyria before the time period of GW1:
"Throughout the centuries, the continent of Tyria found itself in constant warfare. The multiple Guild Wars raged across human lands - constantly ending and starting again, creating a series of wars between Humans. In all these years, not much aside from the constant wars and temporary times of peace existed."
seriously! when you get like 20 people fighting in one spot you cant even see you character anymore. all you see are explosions and effect particles.A bit overkill imo.
2) everyone is a dps.
...so what do i want to do today? how about dps? or maybe you can dps? or why don't you switch it up and be a dps?
Didnt read all the replies so I dont know if anyone said this or not...if not, quote it so others dont miss it.
IF YOU ARE PLACING CRAFTING MATERIALS IN YOUR
BANK....STOP.
In your inventory right click on the OPTIONS symbol at the top right, click on DEPOSIT ALL COLLECTIBLES. All crafting materials, not only things like Jute, wood, ore and foods but also the rare materials will all go into your collectible sack. You can ONLY ACCESS your collectibles at crafting tables but so far, it is holding a TON of them, I have over 300 ore in it right now so I have no idea how large a stack it will hold.
item shop. I mean come on: I'm level 11, and my bags and bank are already full. It's the tiniest bank I ever saw in any MMORPG. To increase the size, I seem to have to pay money. And I just bought the game. -.-
Yeah, I've been thinking about my wallet for a couple days now.... I leave sooo much loot on the ground.

3) cant' get into WvW.
ok so that will be fixed eventually.
1) You can turn it down for yourself if you are bothered
2) I am not just a DPS warrior, if i use hammer I am an CC warrior, If i use a Shield I am a tanky Warrior....etc So yes everyone is a DPS but they are much much more in depth than just a simple DPS.
3) this is extremely true for Full Servers, I didn't get into WvW till after 1 hour in Que. Is it a problem, yes to all that just want to do W v W and nothing else, but for me, I was busy crafting and getting my Daily Done which means I wasn't sitting somewhere just waiting on W v W.
I think the main problem with GW2 currently is that the server is too packed, W v W too popular

It bothers me that in PvP, you are fighting a generic placeholder, and cannot see the player's name, or even what they really look like. I know the bad guys change every 2 weeks anyway, so you aren't going to build any real community via PvP, but it would be nice to at least see what your enemy actually looks like. In the end, it just further contributes to the overall single-player feel of the game. It's a shame.

Its a way of keeping lag down. Id much rather have it that way than oh lets say what it was like playing games like WAR when you got more than a few dozen people fighting (massive amounts of lag and the good old crashing the entire server because of too many people at fortresses).
Thats why in the instanced PvP youll see full details, because of low numbers. But in WvW with the population able to be in one area, without these things the game would be unplayable and they would have to severely lower the pop limits.
At this moment the only thing that disappoints me is the lack of design variation in armor/weapon textures from 1-20. At least while running around with my Guardian.. I found pretty much the same hammer or greatsword a few hundred times. Hopefully it gets better the more I level.

A few seconds for a zone your in for 30+ minutes ? realy ?
I dont een pay attention to that kind of stuff tbh :P
What i do find anoying is that the game is new and iam a total noob with finding stuff
But the more you play the more you learn, but damn the city's are the largest of any mmo i have ever played in 15 years -_- But awesome looking city's idd.
1. Trading post being broken, so I've been selling items on NPC merchants rather than the TP like I'd normally do for the quality I've been finding. All the crafted materials I want to sell, including the rares are sitting in the bank.
2. Customer Support. Took them several hours to handle my transfer request, which had me locked out of the game. When I finally was allowed back in, the transfer never was complete, so i transferred when population was lower. I also got an email saying my account was suspended/blocked, which was obviously erroneous, since it never was, but had me worried none-the-less. I never break TOS, have bad names, or misuse chat. I'm an older gentleman with great manners and aim to please.
3. Camera and movement controls feel clunky. I can't see the majority of the world unless I stop and pan the camera due to the angle it's in. Movement feels sorta like GW1 movement, which was clunky too. As much as I disliked WoW, I loved how fluid the movement and camera control was.
4. The limited size of the population allowed in the WvWvW zone. The zone is just WAY too big to have such a low population allottment in the first place. The limitations makes it to where I can wait an hour or more before I get in. As a casual player, this means I rarely get to PvP in WvWvW.
Other than those 4 things, I can't think of anything else. I'm overall happy with the game. I even wake up thinking about it and when I'm at work I hunger to play it. It's happening gradually, like the game is growing on me. That's a good thing. The lack of subscription fee has also made me happier. I no longer worry if I'm playing enough, which was never a consious worry I had, but it obviously was there none-the-less, because when I think of being able to log in whever I want until the game shuts down, I feel relieved about it. WvWvW PvP is also pretty cool. Not as familiar as DAoC, but it lacks the over the top crowd control DAoC has, which is a good thing, and the zone is far bigger than DAoC's. Only thing I don't like is how long it takes to get anywhere, since the fastest way to travel through the zone can be contested. So if you die, you're out of the fight for a long time. This makes it where 45 min out of an hour is spent traveling, while the rest is actually doing some PvP.
WvW should be renamed to ZvZ, because it's just bunch of zergs running around zerging stuff. You know it's bad when people start thinking that 20+ players is not a zerg anymore but a small group.
Dynamic Events should renamed to Dynamic Zergests because again all they do is zerg zerg zerg not matter what. In every other MMO I've played most group content requires a lot of coordination even early on. For example in TSW one screw up from one of your team mates could easily lead to a wipe. In GW2 it feels like we're just throwing bodies at things with no communication/coordination.
Which brings me to my next point, this game has very little emphasis on the individual player. Which is a good thing or a bad thing depending on your preferences, it is a bad thing for me because I prefer real small group stuff (i.e. 4 players) where actions by a single player can either save or doom the group.
No XP from sPvP is bad. Basically you can get XP by doing everything except BGs. Even themeparks on rails like SWTOR got it right. In GW2 if you want to level up through PvP you're forced to do WvW. If you prefer to level up by doing small scale PvP such as 5vs5 tournaments, well, you're out of luck.
Downed state is retarded and has no place in competitive PvP. It's just another way GW2 shifts focus from individual skill to whoever has more people at the moment. It basically ensure 1vs2s are impossible unless the 2 players you're going against are completely brain dead. Even if you manage to quickly down one player in 1vs2, you're still basically fighting 2 players because of downed state (i.e. my condition engie can do just as much damage in downed state) and I assure you you will not be able to execue a downed player with another player around unless again, they're both brain dead.
There's several other little things that bother me, but those are the biggest offenders since I spend a lot of time PvPing in MMOs.
I have filled my inventory but never had a problem with it. Always carry salvage kits with you, and deposit to collection is your best friend. Just hitting that will generally clear up more then half your space, then salvage what you don't want to use and deposit again. Also you can craft or have someone craft larger bags for you. You can make 8 slot bags almost right from the start. If you mess with discovery you can make invisibility bags and oil covered bags. The invisibility bags make it so any item that is in it will not show up on the sell list, the oil covered bags will put grey vendor junk in them when you loot to keep it seperate. Also every time you see a vendor you can hit the sell junk button to quick clear them out.
The fact that there are people being hacked in this game but the blinder crew says nothing. Any other game and people would be up in arms. The double standard bullshit gets under my skin.
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
The person responsible for this should be fired immedately.. I'm not sure why it hasn't been picked up in beta, but it is absolutely horrible. Not only the turning but the zooming and coliding with objects in the world. I have lost count of how many times I've fallen down trying to get a vista due to this.. grrr..
Also the lack of tactics in fighting.
But the camera bullshit has to be fixed quickly for me to continue.
I'm not so worried about the other bugs like no trading post etc, they are probably fixed very soon.
The only thing that annoys me is the super fast respawn time of mobs. It sometime makes me rage full on when the same mob i just killed 10 seconds ago in coming up from behind me to smack me in the head That really needs to change !

I forgot this in my camera rage in the post above. But this too. I hope they just jacked up the spawn rate for the moment since there are so many in the noob zones.

I agree with the rest of your points aside this one, the right build and provided the event isnt a zerg can feel really nice. I know my pet and I with our very medic based spec can really make a difference with search & rescue on the pet and my heavily enhanced AOE regen. I've lost count of the amount of times wipes have come close for me to save the day.

Also, overflow. =_=
I'm really having a lot of fun playing, but there are some issues:
- massively bugged Group-Function
- massively bugged guild functions
- no/bugged market place
- bugged mail system
- not very much options to adapt the combat chat
- the ui in general is too large scaled, the options should rather say "big, massive, enormous" than "small, medium, large"
- sometimes the camera feels a little bit clunky
- dynamic events seem far too easy. There is mostly no chance to f... them up.
- no option to trade with players
- overkill of spell effects! I just don't like it. Love the puritan spell effects of TSW for example
- the animation of a running norn is the ugliest thing i ever saw
...but anyway. The game is very good and i hope it can live up to that good start.
Hodor!
