I agree that players who played Warcraft 1-3 before will enjoy the game more than players who do not have kind of background in their mind. For me it was great visiting Stormwind or walking around in Ashenvale. I really enjoyed the feeling of now beeing part of The World of Warcraft.

The kiddies suck sometimes. Those who don't really roleplay.. (I have 4 RP Chars and 1 PvP Char) But you do not have to interact with them.

And WTH is so bad about the graphics? (@ the one who opened this thread) It's the graphic used by Blizzard and you can play it even if you don't have a "super computer". I myself am at the minimum system requirements. And I can play fluently, when soloing. And instances are also no problem to me.

So my pearls of wisdom to this topic:

People who enjoy WoW, feel WoW play it.

People, who cannot enjoy or feel WoW. Quit. I don't mind..

WOW has one of the worse communities and I tried to put them on my ignore list but I say to myself " hey I cannot ignore everyone can I?"

Once again I am not saying these areas never get boring, cause they do, but Blizzard wanted their FIRST MMO not to be a grind fest or a time consuming game like L2 or FFXI, and for a first mmorpg, and what i consider their first rpg, i say it's a pretty damn good game.

Hello friend. Actually WoW is a grind fest and a time consuming game. So Blizz screw it. I've played an elf rogue (alot of fun the first lvls) and after the start area all till the end was grind. I didnt mind about grind because I was paying a monthly fee. Right now I quited wow and what can I say is that never in my life I'll be paying a fee to be treated like a robot grind char to achieve balance between others in game. I'm giving a try at GW right now and til now I didnt find any reason to grind because that game isnt lvl oriented, GW is skill oriented, its a really balanced game. Right now I'm enjoying GW as much I enjoyed WoW.

WoW, you were wrong on every single point....The game is actually pretty cool early on, very original compared to its counterparts and looks great. On the other hand, the community sucks. Guilds tend toward the whiny, finding players to group with who are halfway decent at playing their class is extremely difficult. Quite frankly, up until you hit 60, this is the best mmo I've found.

thank you for posting an uninformed, biased trash post... once again, another opinion that doesn't matter.  If you want to trash a game, give examples and actual ingame reasons to put it down... general "this game sucks" posts are useless..... thank you for wasting board space.

The game was fun for me until shorty after I reached the cap level of 60 I think it was. After that it was all forced grouping and you had to wait a long time to find groups that were talented enough. The cap and forced grouping at high levels did it for me. There were only a few places to solo at 60 and they got boring after a week or so. I was a hunter so the thing that really did it for me was the dead zone if a creature got to close.

Still a great game IMO, just the PvP sucks. I have 4 60's, almost 5 so I think my opinion counts :).

i played wow for about 7 months. i got my main to 60. it took me about 6 months to get to 60. 1-60 and after you run the high end instances a few times is extremely fun. after that, its boring.

    Hmm...my advice to you is....
DON'T FLIPPIN' PLAY IT THEN, GAWD! image  There that wasn't so hard now was it?  And seens how you pay for the game just to gripe about it shows the whole world how hypocritically ignorant one truly is.  Blizzard didn't ask you to buy it and play it...you chose to...and just because your experience was sour doesn't mean that the majority's was.  Frankly, "your best"...needs some working on.  Ignorance truly is bliss for some...

I have been playing WoW since a couple of weeks after its Euro release and it is ok but in my opinion it does lack depth. Its true that anyone can get 60 even if they are completely brain dead but it does take skills to be able to play well, esp. in PVP.

Classes are pretty well balanced, the end game content (instances) are fun but become repetative. However unless you are in a guild that can constantly run MC there is always something more to do. The end game instances require skilled players working together to do well which is one of the main things i like about the game.

Crafting system is rubbish and other then grinding XP/Money and farming epic kit there isnt much to do. They add a LOT of content though so im hopeful that given time there will be a lot of interesting stuff to do.

All in all not a bad game but does need something more.

I played for a month or two and finally got tired of it... I still don't know if I was having fun, or if I was just playing for lack of something better to do.

I do think that a vast number of people are playing it just because of the hype. If I were a first time MMO player, I'd have probably liked it better, but it does lack the depth that really makes characters interesting in my mind.

The graphics are generally fairly good, I thought. I like the artistic style of a lot of what they did, and that the game runs even on a fairly poor computer.

After your first character, the grind is horrible, and as a primarily solo player the lack of anything that even comes close to the fun of the instances got under my skin. Make the loot worse, or more rare, but make solo versions of the instances and I'd still be playing the game.

I don't think it's a horrible game, I just don't think it's even close to as good as it's been hyped up to be. It is better than a lot of the alternatives right now, but its appeal is going to be limited later on if you aren't interested in raiding or PvP.

Can't really say anything bad about WoW. I was in beta and I loved it but I didn't buy it.  What I can say is if your someone that wants to reach the level cap fast then don't play this game.  IMO, this game was made for someone to play at a steady pace and still gain a few levels a week.  It's not like EQ2 or DAoC where you were stuck 5 levels below the cap for months.  It has been a while since beta but the game did have some great content and unlike a few of the current mmo's out there, you didn't have to wait for hours to do a quest.

While reading the forums I noticed a lot of people say you can't really do anything at lvl 60 unless you have certain gear.  The idea of 1 type of "Master Gear" is just retarded.  Devs wouldn't make a game that required you to spend hours on a big raid just to earn some stupid gear just so you can actually PvP or what-not.  It's like when DAoC brought in Trials, they just took the fun out of doing class epic armor quests and those didn't need 50+ people to complete.  If there is a gear quest then it should be unique to each class, as well as the raid gear.

    Seconded!

That plus if you think the game has no timing or skill involved, get to 60 and get in a good raiding guild. Try downing Rag and Firemaw without timing, then come back here and say the game takes no skill.

Most of the people that I have seen that say Wow sucks never took the time to explore all the content and see the wide varietyof things to do in the game. The grind from 1-60 is fun and isn't a repition of kill the same mobs for 5 lvls then kill another set of mabs for 5 lvls, then wait 7+ hours for a group, rinse, wash, and repeat.

This is my 3rd Mmo, and by far my favorite. I am so incredibly addicted to this game that it isn't funny.

Sorry I have to disagree, WoW is a great MMORPG.

Yes a new person to the genre can pick this up quite easily but the game does have real depth.

WoW beats all other games on the market hands down at the moment and the main reason is...

It's fun, most MMORPG don't seem to have that factor.

    Thanks Blizzard

I dont see how a 40 man raid group requires skill, all it takes is 1 leader who IS skilled but everyone else only has to be able to listen and follow orders. Think about it, if 1 person in a 40 man raid screws up there are 39 other people to help prevent a disaster, but if 1 person in a 5 man group screws up you only have 4 people to try and prevent a disaster.

In a 5 man group in a really tough instance you need 5 skilled players but in a 40 man raid you could have 30 noobs who dont know what they are doing as long as they follow orders.

Did you play on a PvP server? Saying it only takes time is B.S., I would own you in PvP if that's what you think, good gear or not.

Easy to say that when you lose nothing in PvP, you kill him wow. You get his inventory no, he get a dur. hit no. SB is a real PvP game.

WoW may not be trash, but it was a dissappointment for me, no innovation coupled with EQ style end game did it in for me.  There are really no unique classes in the game all have been represented in some form in other mmo's.  And raiding is just plain boring even with a "Hardcore" guild.  How many times do you have to waste 5 hours of your life, getting no drops before you have had enough.  My account is closed and will probably stay that way until there are more character advancement options as well as solo endgame content.  Waiting around for 6 hours trying to find healers for your group is not fall into the realm of fun for me.  And for you people will the "no-solo" attitude for mmo's, i tell you, give me a game that there will be the right number of people, the right classes, the right levels, that are willing to do the quest/missions i need, when i need them, and can actually play for as long as i need them, and I will agree that you do not need solo content.

    60 Shaman

    60 Rogue

    60 Hunter

    57 druid

    45 Warlock

    40 Priest

    32 Warrior

I think alot of trash is talked about WoW because people are mad it effected their games the way it did.

When wow released, alot of players left hundreds of other mmo's for it. Or, decided to play it along with their main mmo.

I think alot of people got ticked off about that, anyways.

Saying WoW completely sucks takes balls, since the simple truth is it doesnt.

NO MMO has been this quest oriented. You have no short supply of quests. unless its endgame and you've finished the last.

Theres also the opposite side of the world. Done with alliance? Horde on different server... Totally different experience. Different quest. Tons of them. Most mmo's ive played start characters off in the same place. Only seperating them if species or class was different. This has a place for each side. Most their own starting area and backstory of how they became on the side.

Theres TONS of the game to explore, do, its just about the best thought out mmo around. And its still in its infancy. NO expantions yet. It will remain on top for some time. The next round of MMO's wont de throne it. IMO anyways.

Diablo 2 still has tons of players, thats because theres something addictive about being the best and having the best stuff. Simply owning otherse. Making a name..You can do that stuff in lost of other mmo's, but in wow they've all been giving tons of thought and testing.

Dont agree? bring it up on the message board!

Have you ever known any other mmo that is so open to the community. Alot of classes have recieved changes and tweaks. Alot based on players. Advanced players lay out a problem so well that a dev team can supply the fix very easy. And they dont take the attitude that players know nothing. Unless completely off, they take notice of any players post about a problem. More so if its well explained.. Even if others think the problem is stupid, its nice to know someone still went through the post and found it stupid in the first place.

Most mmo's dont care what you think, they're making the game the way THEY want it. To hell with what other playres want unless it costs money via canceled subscriptions.

But thats just my opinion. Point out a mmo built like wow. FFXI? Limited to grouping. If you play at an awkward hour, you may never find a group to go out to gain experience with.

Lineage 2? Grindage at its best!

Thats just a start. There ARE mmos that come close, but Warcraft lore and history was around for years. Most mmo's start off on a very generic theme. WoW's was original, developed through the years under a different genre, and released to the mmorpg realm. Already with a big following for the series, and fans of the lore.

Theres much more to look at, thats all im typing out. It doesnt take much thinking to figure out, WoW is pretty much original. Sure, the fantasy genre in mmo's is played out, but WoW plays it at its best.
