All the teachers do this... (to motivate the kids). But we are happy when we meet somebody who tries to speak french and we don't care about the mistakes. We know that Americans who learn french haven't to do this, while french people have to learn english (for our job or for the games). And now, kids learn english when they are 8 years old. But you know, french is really a very beautiful language
So, it's not so important and I have to say two things: - France USA and UK rule!! - And be careful french navy is very dangerous!

This is true although the Pirates of legend began pirating for a countries navy and were subsequently corrupted because of greed, distance to superiors and lack of communication. They then over time became the loathsome unethical freelancers we love today.

I'm not entirely sure of this, but I believe it is historically accurate. Countries gave "Letters of Marque" to Privateers, who were given permission to attack the country's ships as specified. However they did not keep the booty but gave it to the crown to whom they were loyal. If these Privateers attacked civilian or innocent ships(which sometimes happened), it was seen as a disgrace, and thus they became pirates.
Pirates were free game for anyone who could get their hands on them and had no particular allegiance to anyone. Though I believe there were exceptions.

Would say a rough symbol of it: If someone would just come along the street and say "Hey, you look like a bum" and just walks away after that. Acutally, one "Burberry lady" said to my Punkish friend that once.. I't was funny

Me just wish I was smart but me be just a pirate. Me thinks the best part of this game will be after the battle in the pub with me pirate friend`s as we tell the brave storrys on the high sea`s. Helping each other repar Our ships so we can return to the sea and pilage. After all You will only be famous as pirate with the help of your famous friend`s. I just hope I get in a grate guild of famous fellow pirates.

English privateer... from what I've read in the dev logs on their site, it looks like being a pirate slaps a giant bullseye on your forehead. Especially if you manage to capture some awesome ship, people will be drawn to fight you. I figure at least as a privateer, I can pirate but with the support of a country.

No chance I'd be France, no way, no how. That being said, I had thought about rolling as a Spaniard, because I was hoping it would be the country least chosen.
i don't know why people dislike the french so much i mean they saved our ass a couple times in the revolutionary war, and they gave us the statue of liberty what more can you ask from them, (well maybe for the chicks to shave there armpits) but thats all i can think of
