I didn't like the CU upgrade they did for EQ2. Did I stick around after that? Nope, sticking around just makes you foolish. Money is the only thing these game developers understand now.

No, sticking around would have made YOU foolish.  Because YOU didn't like it.  There are a lot of people, from what I've read, who did.  For them to quit when they like it would have been foolish.

One of the hardest lessons in life to learn is that everyone is different.  And that diversity is one of our strengths.  But it's people who try to push their ideas on others with ridicule and put downs that is one of our weaknesses.

Don't be so cynical.  Try to open your mind to others instead of criticizing them for not being you.  You might find sometimes that others ideas can reveal things to you.   image

I have two reasons not to trust them
    1)SWG patches
2)The insane spyware Sony puts on their CDs.

What does trust have to do with anything here? I pay a fee, play what I can. End of story.

That's the point I made. Instead of complaining about it. I simply just cancelled my subscription. Some people though choose to complain and whine about it. Knowing pretty well it isn't going to change. To me that just makes no sense. It's foolish to pay for something you are unhappy with.

I have nothing against the people that like the change. Me, personally I didn't like it. When I play a game what other people like/dislike is pointless. They aren't paying for my subscription, ISP cost, or anything else. I play for my entertainment, not others.

I wouldn't trust them at all.  Most of the workers there are pretty lazy, and I live next to thier headquarters in San Diego.  Personally, I have grown to used to having great customer support; I would feel short-changed with the support SOE is known for.

I trust them as much as I trust a prison inmate alone with a 16 year-old cheerleader. Well, actually a little less. If by trusting you mean trusting they are capable of making a good game.

Just so its clear. I have canceled all SOE subscriptions months ago(but i admit to feeling an urge to try swg yet again, with my jedi padawan) but ive managed to fight it off. Im waiting patiently for an ideal game for me to focus my time on. If SOE games werent monthly subscriptions i'd probably not be as mad at them because im not losing anymore money by staying with them, only the money that i got the game with. I think the best way to avoid crappy games in the future for me, is to avoid those games that become loot based or forced grouping(has to have some flexability that UO had), i guess this is far more common in the level based games. but now EA games are making UO all quest/loot based with this mondains legacy(and the new races, 1st class humans and elves). So the biggest problem is REWARD, if we keep getting the same rewards it loses its effects.

*(Don't talk to me about WoW, dispite it's claims of 3 million players, the vast majority are Asian and the asians don't have individual accounts, so much of those numbers are inflated.)

4 million, 2 million are Asian.

Do not lot let yourself be deceived all big business really cares about is the bottom line.  Regardless of how well it is candy coated they all want your money.  SoE at least makes no effort to disguise this fact.image

Will I play a Sony game? Maybe. Do I TRUST them? Hell, no. I don't trust Blizzard either... or any company that uses spyware on me. Of course, eventually that might mean not trusting just about EVERY company. It's probably not a great idea to trust anything or anyone whose sole purpose in this world is to grab a bit of your $$.

    Such is life.

4 million is the highest number of players in any mmo not including accounts from Asia; actually I am pretty sure all other games havent even broken a million.  Whats different is despite its popularity in America and Europe; the population from Asia is really small compared to other popular games.

I'd trust a huge corporation more than I would a single stranger that is for sure. For one reason, you know what a companies agenda is. You also know that if they get a REALLY bad rep for scamming and stuff that they will go bankrupt. So they need to do what they say to an extent. Unlike a person by himself who can just take your money and run with it.

Mourning for example lol j/k but not really. (Dodgeball moment)

I played everquest from the begining, and it's simple to say it was a great game that set the precadents of most mmorpgs that followed.

But it was very easy to tell when the game started going down hill, the second verant signed it over  to SOE. SOE did ok at first, but it wasn't the same, and they just used EQ to design EQ2 with, trying all the new special updates and expansions and dumbing everything down to preschool level.

Sony is an excellent electronics company, but hopefully they staff offline for a little while.

    I don't trust SOE anymore.

Actually, now it does Marku. At release it blew, and now it rewls. Best fantasy MMORPG on the market. And yeah I trust SOE, and when I don't I just won't play any of their games.

This thread is flypaper for trolls, and now I know where you stand. You obviously are content to just bash EQ2 without having played it recently, for that I laugh because you are being denied the best fantasy MMORPG in current release. Have fun not playing any MMORPG's.image

Really, in general, the only reason why people hate SOE was because of SWG.  Yes, I am VERY ticked off towards the SWG devs for what they have done.

But, SOE is still my favorite MMORPG maker, hands down, no questions asked.

You guys might as well accept that SOE will be around forever...  I mean, its Sony.

Why do you keep saying the 'best', like just because you say it. It has to be true. I said it once before, and i'll say it again. You haven't seen the 'best' MMORPG yet. You probably never will, atleast not in your life time. Is EQ2 the best of the 2004/2005 market? Nope. Can't be proven. Is it the best fantasy MMORPG out now? Nope. That's a subjective opinion, and as we all know. Opinions are not based in any real truth other then personal taste.

I actually like some of your post, Anarchy. You just take this obsession you seem to have with hyping EQ2 a little too far though. (You remind me of the Sigma guy when he talked about MXO before it was released. Don't hear him too much anymore though.) Yes, you like EQ2. You liking it doesn't make it the 'best' though. So next time you want to criticize someone for their opinion. Just remember everytime you proclaim EQ2 to be the best MMORPG out currently. You are just doing the same thing they are. Which in a sense makes you both equally as wrong.::::12::
