I want your opinion about CoV

Hi Folks,

How are you all?

Presently I am enjoying playing CoV from NCSoft.
I was playing CoH for the last one year.
But i think I must know about the rating of this game.
Hence I need to have you opinion on this topic.
How do you rate this game?

    If you like CoH, you'll probably like CoV. It's very similar. The archetypes play differently (even with the shared powersets), and there're some nice new additions, but the game itself will mostly feel pretty familiar. For better or for worse.

    Worst account management ever.

     

    6 days unable to play so far, that is a great way to reward folks who don't use the phone to call CS and just use emails.

     

    As you already possibly read, I delete all my CoH characters over this.  I mean, come on, I pay $60 CND, I expect to play NOW!  Especially when I read that the issue I experience need to be solve be the CS and folks who use the phone are okay in 2 minutes, while no folks using email see this problem resolve so far.

     

    Tell me it was not design to work that way and I tell you it was.  The bug is working as intended, it is an on/off switch to try to put some folks in contacts with their CoH heroes, well, it went "soooo well", I delete them all and I am furious!

     

    Oh an opinion about the game?  Well, since I play 6 days ago, I vaguely remember what it look like, so I can't give you an opinion on CoV yet.  But CoH is AWFULL in it current stade and the account management is the worst I ever see, but I am pretty sure it is design that way, not a bug.  They think for some reasons that I would give CoH an honest try since I was unable to play CoV...they certainly didnt expect me to delete my 50ish character and the PB...(and everything else but CoV toons).

     

    The community was very nice, like you seem to be Mano.  But with such problems and many new players are far from been nice.  Back then, someone like me would just have seen *hug* and *support*, no fanboi jumping in and defending whatever Issue they did at all cost, folks defending issues harsly is new.  Folks where defending issues nicely back then.  But 4 nerfs in a row make some players bitter (like me) and maybe I am part of the reason why folks defending issues are more hostiles, yet, I merely defend what is common sense IMO.  image

     

    As for CoV, I would love to talk to you about it, but with only my pre-order time experience, I feel it would not represent the whole scale and I fear my opinion of CoH would affect nastily my opinion of the game, which look incredible (and make me hate CoH and the management all the more since I am denied my rightfull place as a paying customer).

     

    And they will prolly just give me apologies if even that, which is not going to help built loyalty, losing 6 days is MAJOR and I expect folks giving a head start to understand that.  I will play with the 19ish players rather than be in the player range of 30+ like I should now, it will not be the same player base, I miss the train and I miss it for good, I wont see the same situation before a new launch, and what they remove from me is priceless.  It is not a parade, it is a different feeling, you don't see the same player base, I like the casuals and I always play with them and I will have a month or months to play with them.  Denying me my week or so of playing with "hardcores" is a crime I won't forgive them ever since it will never represent itself as an occasion.  I expect far more than apologies.

     

    PS: I prefer the casuals over the hardcores, but I was looking forward to try to play with the hardcores a little (and maybe get my wings burned, but that is my problem)...and they denied me this single opportunity.  I am not going to look kindly on them in the future for the gameplay they remove me, thinking it was a good idea to lock me in CoH...I don't think they even understand the full scope of how bad this was, yes I delete my CoH characters, but it take more than a detail or two to lead there, and this was the last step of it (I need to know for sure I won't play them again, which I2-I6 are providing).  Like I said, I expect far more than apologies, even if I know it will prolly never come, which will lead to me leaving no matter if I like the game or not at the end of the free month which happen to be short of 6 days which aggravted me even more.

     

    PPS: As a noob game designer, been there with the first waves is something I was looking forward...and Cryptic just cut me this option, I could have buy another copy of the game and be there anyway, but I never, at any point, think they were cutting my wings on purpose and that it would last as long as it did.  It was not done because I am a GD myself, it was simply done because they think I would enjoy CoH in the meanwhile...well, I didn't...not at all...CoH would be deleted and removed from my computer for good if CoV was not using it folders.  Getting the feeling afterward is never the same, I was wanting to see what scare Verant back then...but no, Mr. Cryptic says no...oh well...screw it.

    I am working hard to improve my writting structure, believe it or not.  image  (I think it is slowly improving, but I ain't sure)

     

    Early today the CS told me they were transferring (again) my issue to another departement and I receive no news since.

     

    The pre-order time I was able to play was awesome, which infuriate me all the more (since I can't play).

    I have a level 20 Enery Melee/ Dark Armor Brute and its very fun so far. I love how you get more XP/Infamy/Prestige in the PvP zones.

    (for those who don't know, you DO get more xp/infamy/prestige in PvP zones. I tested this myself: I got 27 xp for a yellow in a normal zone, and 32 xp for a white in a PvP zone... nuff said. I was not on a team and the 2 mobs were both minions)

    Of the choices you offed, and only commenting on CoV playabilty, I'd have to say a 1.

    your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't

    9 days and still unable to play.

     

    They can't handle a grocery list.  Those responsible for account management should think about finding a new job.  They obviously can't handle that.

    I buy at EBgames (store, not online).

     

    But the problem is not EBgames.  I UPGRADE my account during the pre-order.  After I upgrade it, I was unable to play.  Now it say November 30 for next billing date since I am currently subscribing, but unable to play CoV.

     

    9 days...and still growing.

    You are one of the few that actually have problems with them.  I have sent them an e-mail, and within 24 hrs I recieve a response, even if it's "we're working on it."  Even when I get that kind of response, they fix the problem within a week or so.

    I've had problems, you're going to have problems with MMO's.  My confusion is you say you don't call them, but yet everyone who calls them gets their problem fixed.  Granted I havn't had any problems so I'm speaking from non-experiance.  But if that's the case, why not pay the Long distance and call them, instead of getting furious with a gaming company who has thousands of subscribers?  Just my opinion.

    Yea, I understand now the problem, sorry I was misunderstanding on the first post.  Again I have never had a problem with them, but I understand your frustration.  I attempted the same thing but recieved a message saying "this account cannot be upgraded until Oct. 30."  I guess you were one of the first to get it and got screwed in the deal.  sorry to hear it.

    Hope it works out, I didn't upgrade my girlfriends account till they retracted the 2 day head start from live.  (mostly because I couldn't get to the store to get the copy.)  So I'm not sure if her account would have gotten messed up or not.

    I do hope you get in, and completely understand your frustration.  Have you tried to call them yet?  I know the whole "shouldn't have to" thing, but it's still better than developing an ulcer over.  (atleast I would be processing an ulcer if I were in your predicament.

    I bought the collectors edition and I haven't been so impressed with a title maybe ever. The collectors edition comes with some real collectibles and that is just the start of it.

    The game is polished, fun and beautiful. The graphics are stunning yet easy on the resources, they really really rock. The music is just what you would hope for and more, some sounds are a bit repetitive but always appropriate. The gameplay, while not overly challenging is always fun.

    Character customization is bar none the most engaging of any game I have ever played, console or PC. The sheer amount of options could keep you busy for weeks if you let them. No two characters need look the same. I saw one guy named"Duke Nuke'em" and he looked exactly like Duke nuke em lol it was a treat to watch. You can literally recreate anyone from real life or fantasy. I saw another guy named "George W." and he looked just like the president and was running around saying "Give me your oil!"

    The game gets 11 out of 10 for me based on first impressions.

    I preordered City of Villains and i have been playing it since it came in the mail however i have to say that this game got repetitive extremely fast. The flexibility in character design is quite nice, you wind up spending alot of time figuring out what you want your character to look like since you have so many options to choose from. The second day however, i noticed that the quests were already starting to repeat themselves from the goal of the quests themselves to the enemy 'base' structure so this part i found to be a bit of a let down.


    Perhaps if i just stick around for a few months to max out my character and pvp it would be more enjoyable however ive already decided not to spend any more money on this game and go try something else. I dont think its simply because im impatient however i will grant that it could be, i dont believe so though since i survived 3 months of ffxi....


    Anyway just my opinion

    Well I'm going to wait on my rating of CoV, because I have spent 3hours on creating my character and counting.However, the character creation gets a HUGE 1 baby! image
