The hard core players who like 40 man raids already - and what percentage of mmo players has that shown to be in the past? Like 10-20%. So again, it's mind boggling why companies continue to tailor so much development time and resources on content such a small percentage of the gaming population will ever experience or enjoy. Granted, Wildstar has focus on some other things for end game too, which is exciting - but it still seems like their MAIN bragging and focus point for end game is HUGE TOUGH raids. So frustrating because so many other aspects of the game sound really fun.
I don't even care about PvE, but you realize that World of Warcraft was successful with 40 man raids being their primary end game and it flourished, right?
Was thinking that, Wow was at its peak in TBC, which had the hardest content. from my point of view the game is at low, even tho the content is much easier than before. Im a casual player and i hate that WoW become much easier, it's great the game has become more accessible but it just kills the value of content if the majority of people can clear it in under a month or just faceroll everything, nothing feels memorable anymore .
So i'm really looking forward to what this game brings

WoW flourished but not because it had 40 man raids.
Blizzard dumped 40 man raids they realized that only 1% of the game's population was doing the top raid(Naxxramas).
I can imagine Wildstar also dumping 40 man raids when they have similar participation levels.

I am curious as to what this title will become (parts of it seem like they could potentially be a lot of fun) but;
am I the only one who thinks they need to stop using the catch phrase "elder game"? I guess I just don't see a real reason for it. It's basically calling an apple an orange, just so they can pretend they don't have an apple. There are certain situations where I understand the need for a buzzword, but I really hate it when people use buzz words just for the hell of it. I could be wrong, but that's exactly what WildStar seems to be doing here.
this game is very ballsy aiming their marketing squarely at WoW / EQ old timers. me likey
i support this game; if nothing else because they seem to have a different take on some things and i like to reward inginuity.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

the reason is the Elden race, who once inhabited the planet Nexus, and most of the world will revolve around them. At the end game, the players will be learning more, if not the most about them.

Umm. You do realize when they had 40 man raids that less than 2% ever saw them. Also that when they had 40 mans was when the pop. was the lowest, and it only really flourished after 10 mans were addeed? Biggest problem with 40 man raids is management and getting people that can show up at the same time on a schedule. If WildStar plans on doing 40 man raiding I hope they have some nice tools that solve that problem, because otherwise it could be tricky.
Anyway that video was frickin' awesome, which is what I came here to say before I got sidetracked.

Ah.. makes sense, and sounds interesting.
They should probably just say that then (maybe they have? I haven't seen that conversation). Either way it's still basically endgame. I like the concept, and would rather they just talked about the types of stuff at endgame rather than giving it an unnecessary buzzword =/.

Hmmm, When last checked this was tab targeting, though the video says it's action combat.
I heard somewhere that you can play tab targeting or action, it's a setting, must've added it recently.
Very nice.
I prefer a good targeting system to a poor action combat one .
this

I doubt ANY mmo would be right for you, its clear YOU DO NOT LIKE THIS GENRE. Please move along.
