Thanks for taking the time to post your experience. I found it helpful. I would NEVER wait in line that long for 20 minutes of play lol, so better you than me :-)

    • Achievements ?

    • Level progress ? How long did you played ? your % progress from lvl up ?

    • Do you recall what stats were on items? Did you happen to find a character screen, what stats/attributes did you see there? Is there item preview ?

    • How many active skills per skill line ?

Yeah, if you check my second large post, I link to it from my first post, I mentioned the AI. I will briefly say that it seems mob dependent. The imps were not intelligent but the bandits gave me more of a run for my money.

I think I also mention the little I did of questing. I was more interested in exploring like i do in an elder scrolls game. The questing seems pretty straight forward. It's voiced, the npc is framed somewhat like Oblvion but the camera is back a bit, and you get quest objectives on the map. No where was I ever asked to kill 10 of "x". It's more story based. Having said that I didnt complete a single quest as I just didnt' have time.

Yes, I got some sort of achievement in my second day while exploring the bandit tower. I am unsure what it was for because it flashed on the screen as I was just finishing a fight and vanished quickly

they gave me 20 minutes each time, started me at level 6 and I never once leveled. I didnt' see where the level progression was. As I mentioned , the UI is very sparse and there's not much there.

The stats seemed to be simple damage ranges. I mention the stats/attributes for the character in my second post. I never had a chance to preview two items side by side.

Hard question, there were only 2 active skills of 5 per grouping (class, passive, etc). I mention this in my second post. Wasn't much time to really get into it in depth and see as much of the world as I could.

(as in WOW, EQ2, LOTRO, etc.)

hmmm, I think it was more like an action game where your character faces in the direction you point the mouse. WE play these things for so many years that sometimes it all comes way too second nature to notice. So more like Tera I would say, if memory serves.

Thanks for the reply on combat. They're probably updating the movement, swings, contact with weapons and shields, and general feel with each build. They really have to get that down to nearly perfect, for me to see this game doing well.

That imp fire auto-track sounded odd, I'd like to play for myself to see test that further.

Did you play in first person any?

This is how I prefer to play as its more immersive looking out then having a broad view looking in.

First person isn't in the game as of yet but they said it would be there by launch.

didn't see any chat bubbles (we didn't have access to any options to enable them if they were there) and no one said anything in game. they just dropped us at a bridge, people found their legs and then headed in their chosen direction. Sorry.

Did you go throught loading screen, when you entered city or new zone ? how long it takes to load ?
  • asrlohzasrlohz Member Posts: 645

So, did you start out in different areas depending on which race you chose to play? It would feel strange to play a dunmer and find myself in nord territory right away.

I guess that it might be a single starting zone since the main storyline would make it a bit strange if you just woke up in your hometown after all.

Not at all. We only had access to the daggerfall Covenant and all of us spawned on a bridge.

@bartike: no, I did not encounter any loading screens except when I entered a dungeon.  The town was right behind me. Having said that, since this was a demo, I have no idea whree players will spawn once they get through character creation and tutorioal.

Gotta wait for actual beta feedback.

Guild Wars 2 was cool for 1 hour, but not for 2 hours.

Gah, terrible. I was hoping to for once get to experience the home town of my favorite races from the start of the game. Hopefully it won't end up like SWToR where you'd get to spend about 5-10 levels at your favorite planet before being forced to move on.

I agree. but we'll see how it pans out.

Additionally, here is an interview for those who had questions on the skill system. Apparently once you hit 50 and choose to go to another faction area, the skill system "evolves from there..."

As I understand it (I could be wrong), it sounds like there will be 1 starter area for each faction. They seem to indicate that not every "country" will be present at launch, I think. Again, I could be wrong on this.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

Sort of like that. It's not clear but I believe it's not every part of every country will be present.

Thanks. Also check this out, this helps flesh out what I said and adds a few things. He had 2 hours at PAX and his experience is pretty much mine for the most part. Except for the start, the people in line were just plunked down on a bridge and didn't get to experience some of the starter stuff. Was posted by Daemonweaver in Mike Bitton's PAX preview.

He speaks of "Animation priority" in the video, did you experience that you couldn't interrupt your regular sword swings?

How could you stop swinging a sword in someones face halfway through your swing?

So its just a tab target/lock system disguised as fps style combat.

Notice the plural, mate. If you'd click 3 times it would queue up three swings and you would not be able to interrupt after two swings. And a regular person would be able to stop a sword midswing. Especially Katanas.
