As a Capitalist-Libertarian-father, I support anyones right to get cash for ads, make any type of game they want, and I ferrvently support MY right to not buy said game, or frequent said site, or any other example.

Me, you, or anyone else does NOT have, in my opinion, have any other right except that of "going away" when it comes to others behavior.

This constant attitude of "I don't like what you are doing, so I want you to change it, and I can still continue to come to your site." is crap.

    Again I say:

If you don't like it don't come to MMORPG.com

First I read that as Capitalist-Librarian-father and I though to myself "what's a Capitlist Librarian mean?" image

Secondly, though I agree with you, allow me to play devil's advocate.

Mmorpg.com, being a business, wants to attract as many people as possible in order to:

A, be a competitive major game site and

B, have more people looking at the ads they sell. This  means that more companies are going to want to place  ads here. or at least, in the service providers that probably get these ads and place them based on demographics and numbers of views that a website gets.

if mmorpg.com loses a certain amount of views because of the advertising then they are in a sense making it so that they are not an attractive place to have advertisements. Therefore less money.

Like I said, I have no issues with the ads and have no issues with them being even more hardcore. But it will mean that I will have to only visit the site at home (perfectly acceptable) and that's less views that they are getting from me. Others as well.

Then let them "reap what they sow". Capitalism at work baby.

No, but I have my own allotted time for appreciating the human body and other explicit material. I come here to read about games, not to oggle at hentai bits.

Then again, those ads are nothing like the explicit material you're talking about. Hell, they're not even as explicit as this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/47/La_nascita_di_Venere_%28Botticelli%29.jpg (relax guys, it's art) I could bring some more examples to the table, but I'm affraid those would get me banned :P

Why would you compare Renaissance art to this?

I don't consider the graphics of Scarlet Blade art. They are marketing tools.

Art is art. You think that classic painting isnt promoting something? You're wrong.

I think it is promoting something entirely different than "Hey, look at these breasts."

Anyway, this is a silly argument.

In response to the OP, I would like to see CU have their armour design grounded in reality.

I'm not comparing them, but why do you think one naked chick is ok and another one is not?

Yeah I'm sure these ads are driving people away from the site.....If anything the ppl making all these silly threads are just going to create/cause more ads just like it.

WoW has been advertising like crazy here and not a single thread about the ad. In fact I probably couldn't tell you what they where trying to sell. I assume it has something to do with wow ?

There's 50 billion mmos I don't know about coming out this year. I sure know about scarlet blade.

The Ads are doing exactly what the company wanted them to do and I'm sure other mmos are looking at all the threads these ads have caused.

Why are the character models naked in the first place?

Also, why is there a complete lack of a male character model? (I haven't played the game myself, but have only seend female characters in the videos and screenshots)

Couldn't care less about the ads or the armor in a game personally I only care that the game si good and fun to paly.Scarlet Blade however is only mediocre at best.

    It is called pixle-rage.

A state that occurs while watching non-normative pixel clusters.

Most notably this is due to old graphical driver standards predating the 1970's, Often heavily modded with visual standards which are to prevent the viewer to visually experience pixel formations that may cause uncontrolled or unwanted bodily behaviour in the subject.

I recommend updating graphical drivere too modern standards where such pixel clusters will no longer cause discomfort, but rather enjoyment and the ability to see the beauty in all pixel combinations.

Personally, I'd rather see a fully nude female than a picture of a guy getting shot in the face.

And Greg and Co. (MMORPG staff) wonder why people use ad blockers on this site.  These add do nothing but fuel the stereotype that aisan MMO's are for perverts.  I want to do anything but go check out this games what it wants me to do is go install an ad blocker, talk about appealing to the lowest of society.  MMORPG should be ashamed for running these ads.... that's how I feel.

Bleh nm adblock doesn't seem to get rid of them completely. Kinda sad they're going this way, may have to find a new gaming forum site to use soon.

Personally? I like boobs and stuff. Don't want em in CU, but I wouldn't be mad at em if they were ;)

Not sure what the armor should look like?

Google image a 9th century viking female warrior.  There it is.  The beauty of Dark Age was that it pulled from real life lore.  This in and of itself put it ahead of the "green orcs" game industry.  While I find some worlds interesting...it all stems from our own perception of mythology, which - was founded on real world mythos.

Therefore, let the armor speak for the old world and be represented in CU.  The age of anime' 10 year old girls in Victoria Secret gear should die with this mmorpg.

    /my 2 cents.

Nothin' like pushing soft-porn on kids to sell products. Looking at the ads today makes me cringe, for the first time I'm considering not coming back. It's literally that bad.

No one posting here seems to be all that offended, it is people who have jobs and want to post on the site at work without looking like a anime fetish weirdo that are complaining.

At least the mobile site isn't flooded with girls with 8 year old faces and pornstar bodies.

Agreed. It could be considered NSFW depending on where you work as well. I do think it's silly to dress women up like that. In my opinion it sends standards of masculinity that are unrealistic to young men.

The adverts are quite frankly seedy and borderline perverse considering the agearket that game is aiming for. It makes mmorg look seedy and dirty by associating with that kind of approach.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

yupp, adds can be annoying but im ok with the background image. But yeah, theres nothing mature about the game. it screams 13-17 age range from every angle.

I don't want to see either and I cannot think of one add that has appeared of the later.  The former is becoming all to common.

I have stopped coming to this site while at work.  Getting out of the habit of looking at the site at work has gotten me out of the habit of coming to the site all together, for the most part.

The level of professionalism from the site will determine the clients they have and the traffic they get.

    Their ledger their problem.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

I do find this thread a but humorous considering most mmo's feature the cliche "chainmail bikini's" and have female armour that look slikle something designed for a playboy photoshoot.
