Originally posted by SoMuchMass So you are giving a special "Bug Slayer" title and forum Dragonium badge for Internal testing tier and hoping it will not sell out? Who are you kidding, that will be gone first.
Yes, I suspect it will sell out within one hour.
I hope not but it probably will. Originally the tier was larger but I was really concerned that it would be bought by too many people who just wanted to play instead of test. So, I lowered the number and I plan on filling out the ranks from people who prove to us on the forums that they are willing to spend time to help us. I might lose some $$$$ from that (I might have been able to sell them that tier) but it is worth it to me. I was also thinking of just killing it but I got enough feedback from people I trust that having a small tier like that was still a good idea.
Well, hopefully internal testers take their "job" seriously, but in my experience, even in limited alpha tests that contain only friends and family, 50%+ of the testers do not submit any appreciable amount of feedback or participate on a regular basis, and only maybe 10-20% are "serious" about testing and regular tested what they were asked to, provided bug reports, and gave feedback.
Essentially, as you know better than I do, you are going to get a bunch of people who are there to take a peek, and some people that will work hard for the game to be better. Fortunately even the less-useful testers provide some measure of automated feedback if you have systems in place that track their gameplay automatically, such as which content is used, which is skipped, how often they die, how often they get kills, which classes they pick most often, etc. Sometimes that data can be very useful.
Can one get the benefits of two dissimilar tiers together? For example, the Internal Testing tier and the Warrior Forever tier? That Internal Testing tier is quite unique and would combine well with the swag from other tiers.
I intend to pledge in a higher tier but I also would like to be part of the internal testing, and though I imagine the higher tiers may have internal testing access, too, they may not have the coveted "Bug Slayer" title and Dragonium badge. Silly vanity things, I know, but still.
I would also like to have the Internal Testing tier and Warrior Forever tier

It is my goal to crash the entire game at least once during internal testing.
I take it that the internal testers will have some face time with the devs to recommend thing for the game?
It's either the $110 tier or the $250 tier. The only reason I'd want the $250 is the alpha access of course but really for the Warrior package that has the Crafter's icon in it too. Since I saw the crafters icon mentioned in the rough drafts, I've wanted it, heeh.
Is it worth the hubby aggro...hmmm....
lol, hubby argo?:P
Yah, he, our son, and my mother will be getting the $110 tier. If I get more I will get aggro...but it'll be worth it, hahahahh.
OK, theres way too many people in that family vying for my tier of choice!!

Just a quick one Mark, I probably missed it but on the physical rewards side of things will there be an added charge for postage etc to the European/other countries ? If so any ideas on what that will be ?
75$ digital tier includes all WARRIOR rewards. 55$ WARRIOR reward doesn't include FORUM BADGE (silver), but the EARLY WARRIOR has got FORUM BADGE (silver).
So ppl who will choose 75$ or 150$ tier from the beggining are left with only bronze forum badge.
Or am I wrong?
It's not worth much but you are leaving ppl who gives more without it.
Probably not intented
I found one more thing that makes me a bit worried
55$ tier WARRIOR has got only 1 month of subscription, which means that 75$ tier has got only one too. But on 150$ there is said that it has got 1 additional month of subscription (total 3). Something is wrong? (50$ tier has got two months of sub).
Not sure it's 1:36 AM and i'm gonna go sleep
Happy holidays
Good catch on the text. You are correct, you get a silver badge upgrade and 2 free months subscription. Fortunately, that was right on the KS but wrong on cut and pasting I was doing. I'm checking this tier and see if there are any other problems. I can't update the website now but will take care of it tomorrow.
Again, thanks for the catch.
I think I found one more thing.
150$ tier twins love thotchkes get BETA 2, but 75$ thotchkes get BETA 1.
I know 150$ tier benefit is 1 month more + a few more FP, but this looks suspicious. I don't know maybe it's intended :-) but you said:
"This is our first “2 for 1” tier. It offers the same benefits as buying the same twin"
I still find it weird that $110 has better rewards than $120. That's the price range I'm most considering so you're pushing me (and many others) to give you $10 less. $10 may not seem like a big deal but it's 5,000 people for the limited $110 X $10 or $50,000 you're leaving on the table. Why not make both of these tiers $120?

It's reward for being first 5000 people who believe in project. Remember that when KS hit above 1 mln $ this thing will get more attention then it has now which means even more people pledging. It makes you want to do it as fast as possible which will be good for overall of project

The limited number drivers mor epeople to a tier, even peopel that might have potentinally paid LESS.
It's simpel marketing, make osmething "limited" and it will drive peopel toward it. Once those 5000 fill up then people will move up to the 120 tier.

The alpha access alone will drive people to that tier whether it's priced at $110, $120, or even a bit higher. So there's no reason not to make the extra money off it. The Kickstarter is not a slam dunk; they should take every $ they can earn.
Given that the Alpha tiers have "option to remove alpha access" from them..how much involvement do you want Mark Jacobs in these alpha testing? I'm not young like I was in DAOC days and pull all nighters, but I can surely help some. If i got to shoot a arrow in the air for 2 hours straight, i'm fine with that. But if you require 8 hours a day to shoot arrows I can't do that. :P
A couple hours a day/week around? Just what you can? Or should I shoot for Beta access instead..
I understand opening tiers up to get as much donations you can from many differrent type of players, but the seperation in dollar amounts seem excessive to me. lol

2 less if myself and my mother get the $180 internal testing tier. We're gonna go for it, hopefully get it, we have lots of time to do some testing Just noticed it had the warrior rewards I was wanting too. We enjoy bug squashing and breaking stuff
This is the tier I want (most likely but not sure until I see others in $200-$300 range that might be added) but it doesn't have lifetime sub which I also want. Any chance on adding lifetime sub to this tier Mark?
I really want all the great physical items but I feel lifetime sub is a must for me, so I hope you combine them around this price point.

Heart you are in the category I am and while it may be less than 8 hours a week I can forsee more than a couple of hours a week for alpha.
So with that being said beta suits me just fine.:)

No worries. I feel awful that we missed launching on Friday, especially because we missed it by only a few hours. I just couldn't bring myself to push the launch button and possibly see some of our European players miss out on a few tiers.

That's why I changed Alpha to Internal, Beta 1 to Alpha and changed some dates around. Our alpha access is in line with modern MMOs and their definition of the term. Our IT access is more like the alpha I had originally intended. Thus, there is no testing requirement with alpha access but there is with IT access.
