So, how much did you pledge and why?

I pleged the digital HERO FOREVER myself, so I can forever have a cheap year sub.

Just hope the game won't fail. 250 USD into the project is alot if it fails.

Nothing because I dont ever see a non-PvE game being that fun at all.  It's like playing CoD only in a fantasy setting.  Good luck to all who do but one of the great things that made DAoC fun was the chance to chill out and run dungeons with my guild.    First time running Stonehenge Barrows was like a magical experience and removing that experience is not something I want to experience.  PvE is the Ying to PvP's Yang and you must include both to have a successful MMO IMO.

I can understand that people enjoy PvE are off the fence.

AFAIK there will be some PvE (mobs in forest etc.).

But there's plenty MMO's for you out there anyways.

There's none for people like me. PvP is always a mini game in MMOs. And those who tried to be PvP heavy like WoW is not active anymore.

There WILL be PvE, and probably even quite a bit. It will mostly be important in regard to resource gathering for crafting as well as buildings. The only difference is that if you are a non-crafter you will not be able to level off the PvE and there will be no loot (already made and immediately usable objects) drops. If you want to "level" off PvE, roll a crafter.

I really want to believe in this project.

Guild Wars 2 claimed to be the next big thing regarding PvP and I was hyped. Damn it got boring fast.

I always hated PvE in WoW and always rushed to endgame to do PvP.

WAR Online was great but lacked players.

I really need a PvP MMORPG. I just fear that people who play MMO's are afraid of PvP and just prefer paying a sub for co-operate with friends instead of fighting them.

This sounds more boring than the Sims (no offense to all the Sims fans out there :D).

@OP, I haven't donated anything. To be honest, I don't know anything about this game. I just see all these threads on it :P

Find a old used condom and bring it to me.

raid with 20 other people and kill the same boss every week that uses the same mechanics.

    Wow, sounds super awesome ^^

So no need to use sarcasm......pvp and pve CAN both be boring OR exciting depending on the conditions.

I can definitely see how a lack of PvE is a showstopper for a lot of people - fair enough! It is certainly a niche game and it is not going to offer things for everyone, unfortunately. Enjoy your next MMORPG. :)

    That is true.

I do not like unbalanced zerg fest neither. But you cannot always be certain theres balanced number on a battlefield - like real life.

But I did nail what I hate about PvE in my post.

    Quests are boring.

    Dungeons are boring

Fighting NPCs are just boring for me.

I like to fight vs. real people.

I haven't touched the dungeons or raids in the newest WoW expansions, because I go straight to BGs. Cannot be arsed with PvE.

That is just my opinion :)

I pledged $0. The reason? I don't believe for a second that the game will be anything near what is promised and even if it is it's a completely stupid concept. Practically no NPCs which really hinders the overall experience I think and also hurts the roleplaying experience. Sounds like it'll be pretty much like how Fallen Earth is, with little to no NPC interaction as a difference and the horrible PVP crowd. Pass.

Also, love how the OP boasts that he "kickstarted" $250 in his sig. Do you want a medal? Nobody cares.

Im thinking something along the lines of the combat systems and functionality, since these will be the beating heart of the game, and everything piviots around the flow and dynamics of these.

Well you cant really consider this an MMO, at least not in my book because there is no PvE.  IMO some sembalnce of PvE needs to be in a game or it is nothing more then a Call of Duty or Chilvary Mideval game.  I may give the game a shot when it comes out but I seriously doubt a PvP game will ever keep me long term.  I cant think of 1 MMO I played because of the PvP, even though I enjoy it.  Time will tell though, at least MJ knows right away his game is for a niche audience so thats good for tempering expectations.

Thats the typical WoW clone.  Suffice it to say MMO's have been going away from this dated model of questing and PvE for quite a while now.  Just look at GW2, NWO, and other newer games coming out which feature either dynamic events (which mask that "Kill 10 Rats" nicely) or freedom to explore (ESO) or Ability to create and play your own content designed by people who know what MMO's gamers want out of a quest (NWO).

Well, information about the combat system is trickling out, slowly but surely. I would expect by the end of the Kickstarter the information will be fairly fleshed out, but there almost certainly will be no demo. Hopefully the ideas and concepts intrigue you enough to pledge.

    Take care! :)

this partly i mean i love rvr, open pvp and all but without any pve it's just too one sided - tho if the rvr will be great, i mean real great i could do without.

the more important part is still i find everything around CU to be way too premature and just rough ideas and concept...especially combat. before i would back anything i want to have a combat demo or atleast a crystal clear concept of how it's planned and not some might be this or might be that...99,9% of the time i would combat in CU.

i understand they want to do something unique but so far this sounds like a mix of tab targeting and area dmg stuff and i dunno...since i played darkfall and now defiance i just don't want that boring combat systems of the last decade+ anymore. playing defiance is just refreshing and the only game i personally "allow" slow combat for myself is eve for it's complexity and stuff to do besides combat ^^ dunno they might prove me wrong here but most tab targeting combat including gw2 is just plain boring to play.

Give Neverwinter a try if you are tired with tab targeting. I am not a fan of it, but it is purely reticle based, "actiony" combat. you may enjoy it. Good luck! :)

I pledged $110. I loved DAOC's RvR for many years. The idea of a game that has RvR without first requiring you PvE grind to 50 then raid and farm to put together a template is very exciting to me. That's exactly what I want from an RvR game. I thought GW 2 might come close to that but then they added Ascended gear that can only be acquired by grinding the Fractals dungeon or dailies, plus WvW sucks in many other ways. The $110 tier has a very attractive set of rewards that led me to pick it: digital copy of the game, 7% sub discount, alpha access, and assorted other digital goodies.

I'm not at all worried that the Kickstarter will fund but the game never be released. 2.5 years is plenty of time to develop an MMO without PvE. It will get done.

It's certainly possible it could end up not being as fun a game as I am hoping, but that's always true (see previously mentioned GW 2).

There are still some details (especially about the RvR progression system) I would need to see before I would feel comfortable donating even more money. I'm hopeful those details will come out in the next few weeks. If they do and the Kickstarter looks like it will fall just short, I likely would increase my pledge to the $175 or $250 tiers.

This is probably the only game concept that I would be interested in backing on Kickstarter. Anything else and I'd wait to try it in public beta events first. I don't know if I would even back a second CU Kickstarter if Mark added PvE to it to broaden its appeal.

At $250 he DOES get a medal, the coveted Platinum Forum badge medal.

I have no idea how the game will turn out either. The closest game I've tried that has no leveling via PVE and otherwise horrible roleplaying experience is EVE Online, which I currently play. Yet, EVE is remarkably addicting in how one can shape the world (from market PvP to battles over resources).

That said I (with the help of a few others) am currently backing the project at $5K in order to have the chance to build an in-game Inn (here) and serve as it's innkeep, which in turn gives me an interesting opportunity to help enrich the roleplaying experience by adding player-driven content into the game.

    Is it nonsense? Perhaps.

Yet, in my experience to date one out of every one MMO that is released fails to deliver on all its promises, so the outcome won't shock me.

Of course, I get a "Dragionium" forum badge medal,  so I should be content regardless, right?.
