This sounds more boring than the Sims (no offense to all the Sims fans out there :D).

@OP, I haven't donated anything. To be honest, I don't know anything about this game. I just see all these threads on it :P

    PvE is boring ;)

    Kill 10 bears

    10 pigs

Find a old used condom and bring it to me.

raid with 20 other people and kill the same boss every week that uses the same mechanics.

    Wow, sounds super awesome ^^

To be honest, I don't like PvEing that much too :D I was referring to the whole crafting thing which sounds incredibly boring to me. I don't focus too much on PvE in MMOs. I spent most of my time playing WoW and GW1's PvP rather than do all that crazy dungeon grind. But it is still good to have some form of PvE for diversity's sake. Also I also thought that the whole leveling experience is fun as you get to see new zones, gain new abilities and try out stuff. I like that kind of stuff. Once the levelling is done though I find the whole end-game grind - super boring so I just play PvP :P Now I have found games like LoL and SC2 to fulfill my "PvP"  needs so not really looking for MMOs to play but i might read up a bit on this game to see if they have anything interesting.

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

Started at $250, but after I looked closer at what I could afford I moved it to $500 shortly after on day 1.  A number of reasons, but I think the main ones for me are I really like the concepts behind the game and I have faith it will be awesome.  Both options gave me the lifetime sub and beta access to provide input.   Though I love to have cool swag items I opted for the digital backer options to help keep what money I toss in directly towards the development cycle.

this partly i mean i love rvr, open pvp and all but without any pve it's just too one sided - tho if the rvr will be great, i mean real great i could do without.

the more important part is still i find everything around CU to be way too premature and just rough ideas and concept...especially combat. before i would back anything i want to have a combat demo or atleast a crystal clear concept of how it's planned and not some might be this or might be that...99,9% of the time i would combat in CU.

i understand they want to do something unique but so far this sounds like a mix of tab targeting and area dmg stuff and i dunno...since i played darkfall and now defiance i just don't want that boring combat systems of the last decade+ anymore. playing defiance is just refreshing and the only game i personally "allow" slow combat for myself is eve for it's complexity and stuff to do besides combat ^^ dunno they might prove me wrong here but most tab targeting combat including gw2 is just plain boring to play.

Give Neverwinter a try if you are tired with tab targeting. I am not a fan of it, but it is purely reticle based, "actiony" combat. you may enjoy it. Good luck! :)

does it even have pvp, pve only is the same story just the other way round :) as of now dfuw might be the only to combine what i want from a game ...

still will see what the kickstarter updates show in the next weeks maybe there is something coming along to convince me to pledge :P

Neverwinter has PvP - I actually found its PvP to be decent, to be honest. I strongly dislike most of the rest of the game, but I found PvP on my Control Wizard to be pretty fun. I only played until level 27, though.

I still am trying to find some MMORPG to keep me busy until CU testing begins. Forums can only keep me so busy. I was hoping Neverwinter would be that game but it is just too... something. I don't know. Tedious.

lolz, well....to you pve i might be boring but imho running around just to zerg 5 guys with 25 people is not MY kinda fun either.

So no need to use sarcasm......pvp and pve CAN both be boring OR exciting depending on the conditions.

    That is true.

I do not like unbalanced zerg fest neither. But you cannot always be certain theres balanced number on a battlefield - like real life.

But I did nail what I hate about PvE in my post.

    Quests are boring.

    Dungeons are boring

Fighting NPCs are just boring for me.

I like to fight vs. real people.

I haven't touched the dungeons or raids in the newest WoW expansions, because I go straight to BGs. Cannot be arsed with PvE.

That is just my opinion :)

i do respect your opinion....and don't get me wrong, i dont want to see this game fail just because it's not realy my kinda thing to do nothing BUT pvp.

I realy hope that this games works for all you pvp/rvr freaks out there.

$50 here. Its the price of a game. I had fun with the original DAoC before the PvE grind expansion. Never liked raiding scripted Boss fights. Heres to supporting something different! Good job fellas. Every game's a gamble. Support a new idea for $1, if it tanks you lost 100 pennies.

The Poll is biased, nowhere in there does it have $0 . There should be a 0 option for nothing.

I would give you a guest pass to SWOTR, but then I wouldn't be able to find a way to live with myself afterwards....

Sounds like it'll be pretty much like how Fallen Earth is, with little to no NPC interaction as a difference and the horrible PVP crowd. Pass.

Also, love how the OP boasts that he "kickstarted" $250 in his sig. Do you want a medal? Nobody cares.

I can understand that people enjoy PvE are off the fence.

AFAIK there will be some PvE (mobs in forest etc.).

But there's plenty MMO's for you out there anyways.

There's none for people like me. PvP is always a mini game in MMOs. And those who tried to be PvP heavy like WoW is not active anymore.

Well you cant really consider this an MMO, at least not in my book because there is no PvE.  IMO some sembalnce of PvE needs to be in a game or it is nothing more then a Call of Duty or Chilvary Mideval game.  I may give the game a shot when it comes out but I seriously doubt a PvP game will ever keep me long term.  I cant think of 1 MMO I played because of the PvP, even though I enjoy it.  Time will tell though, at least MJ knows right away his game is for a niche audience so thats good for tempering expectations.

There's no rule that says for being a MMIO there need's to be PvE.

    The rule for MMO:

Lots of players online at the same time.

    MMORPG:

Lots of players online at the same time with roleplay elements.

Thats the typical WoW clone.  Suffice it to say MMO's have been going away from this dated model of questing and PvE for quite a while now.  Just look at GW2, NWO, and other newer games coming out which feature either dynamic events (which mask that "Kill 10 Rats" nicely) or freedom to explore (ESO) or Ability to create and play your own content designed by people who know what MMO's gamers want out of a quest (NWO).

I really hoped that GW2 also were the next best thing. But instanced BG is boring, and the lack of progression makes it boring. And the mindless zerg fest in WvWvW killed it fast for me.

After turned 80 I felt I completed the game. Turned boring really quick.

Where is 0 dollars pledged? The company I am working with has put money into a pipedream (like this game is) and nothing will come out of either.

I would believe the game would be produced if they actually had a game play video, but with nothing I believe that is as far as this game will go. That and no PvE will basically make this a totally niche game.

Just so we're clear....you don't believe the game will ever be produced. Which you think leads to this being a niche game.

First, it is being designed as a niche game, so good catch there. Second, if the game isn't produced, that's VERY niche in that there would be 0 players.

And finally, nobody cares about your shitty speedtest.

I have pledged to CU's Kickstarter.

Its interesting to watch everyone say how important PvE is and in a way, it always has been. I've played a ton of MMOs over the years and I can only think of one which didnt have PvE levelling in one form or another (EVE) - as I think back over the games, what was the point of it?

    1) Its a nice handholding way to introduce abilities to characters - rather than blergh here are 50 abilities to use straight away.

    2) To get better items / access to different areas (with better items)

    3) For the sense of achievement / working towards a goal (as a group) by killing bigger / tougher monsters.

    Anyone got any others?

    1) This will be covered in PvP levelling in the same manner

    2) Well, this will be achieved by crafters - although not really enough detail on that yet (not a problem as im sure more will surface over the next 3 weeks).

    3) The achievements here will be such things as keep capture / zone takeovers / objective holding and what is so different about that? It still has the replayability factor? It still has grouping? It still requires co-ordination?

So why does it not work for PvP only? You have to bear in mind that MJ is aiming at a niche market, which is primarily the old DAoC players... and I for one wish him success.

For all 4 of us here a total of $780 with tiers and +$50 each for extra FP's.

For these reasons, and I'm sick of the typical, clonish, themeparks we've been given the past few years.

I pledged Hero Forever (350$) for many reason:

    - I play DAoC since beta and it's so far the best pvp mmo I've played (and I've played a LOT). I want to believe this team can do something equals or even better.

    - lifesub (350 = 3 years sub). If this is the half of what they plan I will play with my futur child in it :D

    - socialization : there is no more socialization in mmo nowadays. The problem isn't I could be the only to miss it. The real problem is: this should be the fucking first rule in any mmo.

Today 90% of mmo could be rework to run offline with an online option for instances. CU isn't going is that way.

    - CROWD control, except DAoC no has real CC ( should be call SSBLC - Single Spamming BrainLess Control ) and you obviously can't beat a stupid bus-zerg. I saw enough brainless gaming without challenging and thinking gameplay.

    - no PvE & no instances : I'm a Pvp player, I found no challenge in repeatedly killing the same stupid creeps or in the same instance again and again to get a better epic stuff to do it again but faster and "harder" (by harder I mean same stupids mobs with more stats...)

btw instance =! mmo, get a fucking offline game with multiplayers options like we did before.

    - Craft The World ! (©Ryzom image) : all is about socialization, players need each other, meet each other, play together.

    - Deep Gameplay : no gcd (lol at this broken concept), real balance balance between range&melee (interruptable spells), panoply of skills (including Cc), diversity in every class & realm (no class has a miror, no realm is the same)

    - RvR : because I like the feeling of being a part of something beyond me. Unknown allies become brothers of arms as fast as we pull out our weapons.

    - last but not the least DWARVES : no need to argue, we all know they are the best

You know, i haven't read everything about the game. But when i write little rants pointed to MJ, I then read others posts on why they want this game to be backed, and i realize... WHY i backed it. Because everything i want, MJ in some form has said will be doable. From no instances, to A guaranteed speed class, to  CC that doesn't suck like warhammers, to NO PVE... It all just sounds so FREAKING GOOD.. only thing i would/could want?  A FFA pvp server... AND HE EVEN SAID MAYBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the difference of opinion, but it's a piss off that MMORPG allows the trolls to consistently lurk without consequence.. but rest sure if I, or someone else, mentions even the slightest sarcastic quip we get a slap on the wrist.  I'm sure this comment is "out of line", but I honestly don't care.

You people need to learn not to feed the bloody trolls.

My name is Plastic-Metal and my name is an oxymoron.

I pledged $110.00 because I belive this game can be successful long term as a niche game. Burned too many times on overhyped big publisher mmos. It is time to think small and go from there.
