So I've seen a lot of posts where people say they need to know more info before they pledge. What info? They haven't built the game so they can't show in- game stuff. They don't have specific class information but they've told you exactly what to expect. They only have some concept art but Mark Jacobs has been very vocal about the art direction and style.
What specifically is keeping you from backing this project?

You have all info here:

Lol, not sure why my intentions would seem mysterious to you. I backed the game and want it to succeed so I can play it. I have no idea what a Greed Monger is so I can't comment on that but don't you think that if I was being paid I would post a lot more?
They are asking people to back an idea and have laid out what that idea is. Why would a visual make it a better idea?
Dude, an idea is one thing and implementation is another. Keep that in mind.
While that's true anyone waiting for implementation will not back the KS anyway as the game isn't even an alpha concept yet.
But yes, your right, an idea is one thing but without more specific details not everyone will be convinced.

FAQ about CU here

how about gameplay. you know, the stuff other ks projects usually show before telling us stories how totally awesome a game will be?
lots of people hyping and pledging for a game in their fantasy. Well great way to sell something, reminds of "bottled air".
all the info we have now is fine, but as we all know, plans change, promises get broken and shit happens. If were honest with ourselves we know the game as its being discussed now will probably little resemble the game we may get.
what kickstarters do is ask for blind faith in a product and thats why I will not donate money
That´s the difference between the Warhammer guy and, for example, Garriot, Roberts or Braben. They didn´t just tell everyone on KS how the game works, they actually had something to show and obviously did some prior investments, not much, but enough to demonstrate the acutal gameplay.
From the Warhammer guy I only see some colored slides and lots of salesman pitches. He is probably mostly a good salesman, is he a good game developer? Warhammer tells a different story.
That sums it up. I personally smell "shady" from about a mile away.
btw anyone notice the tons of GW2 posts are suddenly gone and have been replaced with CU posts?
hype is a strange thing. The excitement for a game which only exists in some devs and fans heads is hard to understand.
guess in their own fantasy everyone is already playing his ideal game. I wonder how hard reality will crash some KS projects afterwards.
I actually think Kickstarter may be the future of many online games, maybe I'm insane, maybe not I think that at this point it either seems that what is being released are WoW clones that go to F2P or games that even start F2P. Sure there is GW2 which I have but sadly, I lost interest quickly.
I think if game developers want to develop games that people truly want, then they may need to go to kickstarter. That way people can have a voice (but hopefully not too much voice).
I know certain people have been very enthusiastic but the kickstarter is only 1 month long. I'm sure you won't hear from people for a while after it is done. I don't fear it getting funded although some others seem to be worried.
Personally, I think it is exciting to help fund a game from the start. Sure, there is a chance that it'll flop. I also think that Mark Jacobs knows whats on the line and if this flops, he'll never be able to do it again and asking money from your players is a risky venture. Not only do you risk them never giving you money again but you also risk them never supporting a developed project that you have either due to feeling betrayed. So I think with his future career on the line, I am sure he will do whatever he can to get a good game out there.
There's a difference between Jacobs and the others? What exactly? Garriot created Ultima Online, Coaster of the Year by CGW when it launched, and let's not forget Tabula Rasa right? Roberts? Great single player games, but his MMORPG credentials are exactly what? Braben? who the hell is that? (had to look him up, Elite..again, not a MMO developer)
Jacobs helped create DAOC, arguably one of the most unique and in some folks minds best PVP centric MMORPG's. True, he followed that up with Warhammer Online, and it tanked, so he's 1-1, or batting .500, pretty good if you are playing baseball.
At the end of the day, if you fund a kickstarter you are believing in a dream (which obviously other investors don't, because none of these guys mentioned can get a major publisher to fund them)
It's high risk of course, so what you really are betting on is if Mark knows and is capable of delivering a MMORPG as he's described in his vision.
It's OK if you don't think so, and I'm pretty sure you'd probably have your doubts even if he unveiled a beta version of the game at this point.
BTW, I haven't funded it yet, mostly because it's really not a game I want to play. Before the end I'm likely to pledge one of the minor tiers however, just because I support new and interesting visions in games, (OK, Counter-revolutionary) so I'd like to see this one get made even if it's not my style.

Don't know why people bring up Greed Monger. Greed Monger was a project asking for 30k ran by someone with no experience in the game industry.
It was obviously never going to happen.
Hi
- both have no gameplay
- one dev has no experience, the other one did... Warhammer...
My personal assessment is that you'd (anyone, not you specifically) have to be an absolute idiot to think GM and CU are comparable.
Hi
What is missing? Alpha footage, or even pre-alpha footage. A detailed description of classes, features and game mechanics.
I understand that MJ is putting large chunks of his own money, and a large chunk of money from another investor into CU if it funds....... what he SHOULD have done, is use his money and the money of the investor he already has to develop the game to a prealpha stage before asking others to invest.

He's already spent 150k setting up the KickStarter etc.
Hi
Anyone else notice how recently there seem to be an awful lot of new members with only a few posts, all of which are shamelessly pushing CU?
Just Sayin....

No shame required, been here since the first thread started, just finally registered after reading all the BS posted by the ppl not ever going to pledge or play CU.
Not everyone can have a thousand plus posts.
They might just be big fans who registered to defend the game from the haterbrigade.
Hi
One reason I am reluctant, despite the fact I loved DAoC pre-ToA, is the fact this is the same gentleman who basically ruined DAoC and then came out with Warhammer.
I bought DAoC and WAR that is enough investment for me.
if you look at my account creation date i've been around longer then you i'm just not someone who posts alot.
