Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the open beta for Dragon's Prophet will begin on May 30th. In addition to this announcement, SOE has lifted the non-disclosure agreement for current closed beta testers who can now reveal their thoughts about the game.
Players will be transported to the dragon-filled, beautiful world of Auratia, where they can capture, train, ride, and fight hundreds of unique dragons. Dragon's Prophet features an action-based combat system that gives players visceral battle action gameplay. Set in a realm where dragons roam the land, sea and air, the game lets players band together to battle a variety of dragons as they work to restore order to the land from the evil Black Dragon that has escaped his eternal prison, and is more dangerous than ever.

My Review Manifesto
Follow me on Twitter if you dare.
Wooh I can talk. It sucked!
Okay, vague and a very terrible and fail way to describe it I know, but yeah... I'll give it the benefit it lacked a lot of translations and all that, its fine and understandable since it was in beta. The rest just felt so... bleh and meh...
I just wasn't all that impressed to be blunt. Maybe its just the character I was playing, it just didn't feel very smooth at all when I played with combat and just over-all a lackluster experience. Who knows though, perhaps it has improved a lot since I last played?
Still, given an open beta, no reason for people not to go and check it out.
open beta 30 may? wtf?
I played it some days ago and it felt like it was in an alpha state
I so agree with u.
My feeling exactly. The mechanics are not bad but the game is very rough around the edges. Most of the language translation isn't even completed on gear. You find items all over the place with placeholder descriptions.
My impression from playing the game a few days ago was this is could be a very interesting game once they work out the kinks and smooth out the combat a bit.
It would be a shame if SOE rushed this to market and cut short what could be a unique title.
This is the kind of things I like to hear. Thank you.
I am very surprised, as others have expressed already. Game is nowhere near ready to be in Open beta, as we all know that those open betas are in fact soft launch for F2P games (no character wipes, and you get all the rewards of the pre-purchase at the start of open beta).
Game is missing so many translation (lots of SYS_XXX string placehorlders), Fonts are still a vibrant mess IMHO (can still not get used to the font/size that Runewalker is using for their game). SOE probably has good marketing reasons to put the game in Open Beta so soon (from a revenue stand point), but this could backfire to them. What could have been a great game could be a "less-than-mehhh" game... Time will tell, we will see next week the quality of the build.

dragons prophet devs - about open beta, etc.
Unless their internal client is ages apart from their Closed Beta client (a.k.a. if they've been holding out on 95% of updates), then the game will be highly problematic.
The combat felt choppy, no attacks seemed to connect. "Unbalanced classes" is an amazing understatement. Optimization was lacking, to say the least. And translation was only 50% done. Oh and quests are basically the now ancient F2P/WoW style yellow exclamation mark, no voice, ultra-wall-of-amazing-text. XP levels on quests are awkward, and broken.
The only good things I could say about the game are the sheer number of dragons and the pretty fun community (expect Neverwinter-like community after the game launches tho).
Hope they indeed kept most updates in-house and Open Beta will be mostly fixed tho...game has potential.
The game is seriously hideous! I was excited about it, and then I played the CBT and it was AWFUL! The graphics were something out of a ps2 game. Graphics aren't everything but I just couldn't stomach it. Animations were cringe worthy and the gameplay was generic and lackluster.
Don't expect this game to be around for long. I tried to voice my opinions in the game on world chat and got flamed by fanboys who used the famous "It's a beta" excuse. I know damn well the graphics and gameplay will NOT change, especially since it's going into open beta now.
Is this a joke? The game is nowhere near ready! The animations are still rough, placeholder names for items / locations / NPCs abound, mob distribution & balancing needs a ton of work, classes need balancing, combat needs work....
This game is in a very, very, very early stage beta. To go open now is just absolutely stupid. Who the hell made this harebrained decision? Going to open now is a death sentence for the game, plain and simple.
Guess that's $40 down the crapper.
It's a sad day indeed when a family is too afraid of reprisals to publicly thank somebody for saving their lives.
You call this ugly?

It doesnt have the best mmo graphic, but its far from ugly.
Sorry man, I have to agree with Dellamorte666. This game looks like it was a launch title for Dreamcast. It honestly feels like a crap game all the way through. I'm honestly surprised how many people like this game. I guess more power to you.
I was really surprised it went OB so soon. For a F2P I,m enjoying it. It's doesn't have the flashy Aion type graphics, but if I wanted that I would play Aion. The mechanics need some adjusting, but they aren't game breaking and the main focus of this are dragons anyway and I'm really enjoying that aspect of it.
Best advice I could give is download it and give it a try when it goes ob and decide for yourself.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

Screenshots like that are what suckered me in. When I actually played the game it looked nothing like that. Same thing with WarZ
