Grailer temp your hype meter brother Ive had this feeling before with Warhammer / Aion / SWTOR / GW2, and they all where great the 1st few levels, then the honeymoon is over...sometimes within a month sometimes within 4 months, but the love you bursted out comes to such a abrupt end that you ask for a divorce and start to hate it the same as you once loved it.
Ive learned to temper this burst of power from within. Nothing more disapointed then looking forward to witness the next disaster.

they always seem to have good graphics, its always the gameplay that lets them down though. although the graphics are often a bit too 'risque' for some.
Has anyone else noticed that every time a new MMO is introduced on this website you always get couple of very hardcore supporters (out of nowhere) who would get all defensive moment someone criticizes it? it happens every time and has become such a cliche.

What isn't free to play nowadays? Granted the game could wind up terrible, but with everything going F2P lately that's not something you can really hold against a project anymore, not until you see how their cash shop works at least.
I don't see anything to be hyped about here personally. I haven't been able to find a lick of information about the game beside for these trailers, which don't really impress me themselves.
I like their more realistic aesthetic, but then they turn around and have all these flashy attacks like the more cartoony(?) games have. That clashes with me. I'd take out all those big purple flashes of whatever that is. The sword slices that give a bloodied effect look ok. Then there's the whole aesthetic of the characters themselves. Most look fine, but the giant muscle head giant men dont really fit in to me.
I dunno. Everything in these trailers looks like a mashup of different artstyles. Doesn't hype me up atall.
I can see the hype.
However, I agree with you about character design and story. Asian MMO's have never been able to get this right. They take ideas from everywhere, then try and add in their Asian influence (Which never turns out well).
Example: That girl with the authentic asian outfit amongst a bunch of plated 'knights'? Ok..
You see this in almost every Asian MMO and it just makes the overall game look terrible. Asian MMO's need to stick with an idea and make it reality. If you want some tiny authentic Asian girl with giant breasts wielding a two handed sword with nothing but some dress garb from ancient China, then stick with that theme. Nothing bothers me more than things that don't fit in with the aesthetic.
Still, the game looks amazing. The housijng is like sims3 meets MMORPG's which couldn't make me happier. The other thing i notice about this game is the scaling, which ArcheAge did 'not' get right. ArcheAge looks like the environment and the characters were designed from design teams in two isolated environments, not able to communicate with each other to make the final product. Black Desert is the complete opposite. The characters and the environment are proportionately accurate. I talk about this in almost all of my posts. I like to refer to it as 'Graphical Cohesion', and Black Desert looks like they know what that means.
Still hard to make judgement when I haven't seen enough.

Baseless game bashing, if you research this game and learn more about it than "made in Korea" you would know this game is nothing like Raiderz or Ninth.
One thing i've noticed, just as supporters seem to always come out of the woodwork ready to "hype" a game. Even more people seem to come in and save us all from our "overhyping."
Anyone can hop in every new game's forum and talk about how the game is going to be overrated and be correct 99% of the time. That is easy. But (and this isn't directed at Riposte) accusing everyone of "hyping" every game and always falling for the same thing isn't really a novel act either.

Do you know it's nothing like these games because the game is out in at least Beta and you've put a more than an hour of game play into the game? Or are you speculating?
Korean MMO's all have the same game play, or at least very similar and feel. I've played a hand full of them. And there's a difference between Free to Play and Buy to Play. The fact that most games are going to a "buy to play" or "free to play" system isn't necessarily something to boast about. The reason why most MMOs these days don't have a sub only option, is because most of them aren't worth paying for, at least not for the majority of the population. Maybe 5% would be willing to pay $15 a month, but most mmo's now are junk and lack the depth that there once was with games like Everquest / Everquest 2, WoW, FF 11, etc.
Do you know it's nothing like these games because the game is out in at least Beta and you've put a more than an hour of game play into the game? Or are you speculating?
Speculation is making a guess in spite of a lack of evidence or based on incomplete evidence. The evidence that this game is not like RaiderZ is present and complete. That I would enjoy or not enjoy this game would be speculation.
One doesn't have to play the game to know some things about it. I've never played Asheron's Call but I can look at the general statement of what the game is about and tell you its nothing like RaiderZ.
Go read up on it. The game might suck but the game will not suck for the same reasons RaiderZ sucks. You don't have to play the beta to know that.
The issue with all Korean MMO's and most new MMOs is that they don't have that lore, that story and background that drags you in, that makes you connect with your character. The lack of classes, the lack of attacks and spells, the lack of individuality in these games is gone.
Developers take the easy way out with a handful of combat arts / spells and a cross hair for "active combat". Korea, China, etc pump out games like they pump out knock off products. They quality just isn't there.
The most played and watched games for E-Sports are all North American games. North America has always had a better product when it comes to MMOs, for the exception of FF11 which I feel is a quality mmo, but not from NA.
I will keep my fingers crossed that maybe this game will be awesome, have tons of story and ingenuity. That it really makes you connect with your character, but I sure as hell wont hold my breath.

It will suck because it's a Korean MMO, it may not be exactly like Raiderz or C9, or Blade and Soul or any of the other Korean MMOs, but it will have the same feel, atmosphere, and shit lore that the rest of them have.
I am generalizing Korean mmos, but they have put out enough shit to give me providence to do so.

I'm convinced you just have a bias against the asian games and aren't really here to contribute so much as just bash a game you don't really know anything about. There is no point in continuing this discussion.

umm not that I really care either way but...
from Black Desert's wiki:
Game Projects
Pearl Abyss has help develop Continent of the 9th and Black Desert Online.
From Kim's interview in MMO Previews:
Q: Hello, it is nice to meet you! My name is Steparu, would you like to introduce yourself to the people reading this interview?
My name is KimDaeil, I am the director of various games like RYL (Risk Your Life), R2 (Reign of Revolution), and C9 (Continent of the Ninth) published by Hangame Korea. I have been a game developer for 13 years and resigned from NHNGames in 2010. From there, I founded a new company called Pearl Abyss Corporation around September 2010. As of the moment we have around 50 people who are currently working on this game. We have 30 graphics designers, 10 programmers, 8 project planners, and etc.

I had read Pearl Abyss had not developed any games before. It must have been misinformation.
The game looks mediocre as opposed to what? Please enlighten us with what non mediocre MMO you're playing.
Why? You are being a smug asshole and you are just going to slap whatever I say with some sly euphemism. Be it "indie garbage" to "WoWclone" to "lolp2w ftp!".
Also please feel free to link a Forbes Rift article that is even comparably praiseworthy to the Black Desert one.
"This is our world-map interface. The huge cyclone is now coming to Velia town. As you watch in second trailer, there is a weather system that snowy or rainy at field. If you go through to the cyclone, you will meet with storm. "
"NPCs at village are against with dragon. Some specific monsters attack to towns(or villages) sometimes. Of course, if town collapsed by monster, some of services which originally provided will be unavailable for a little term. "
This place is one of the dungeons in Serendia territory. As we introduced before, the great boss monster 'Czajka' is sleeping inside. The man with white robe is one of the priests who are in restraint of chained Czajka. You can find many imprisoned priests at scattered cells of dungeon and to make them free would be your main mission in this dungeon.
Lets just wait and see how good it will be once it comes out in the western parts of the world which is earliest 2015 if i remember correctly right?
2 Years is a long time and it would not be the first asian MMO that gets massive hype years before it makes its way to the western part only to really disappoint a lot.

Unfortunately you are correct. At this time the game doesn't even have a western publisher. Supposedly it will be entering closed beta in Korea sometime during July.

Seems idd that 90% of mmo's are Free to play these days :P
Only a handfull refuse to go free to play / buy to play.
Are they the walking dinosaurs ?
How long till the profit turns from green to red ?
I prefer sub based mmo's like many here, but with what ive bought last couple of years where just waisted money.
The great wilderness of mmo's are upon us, so many mmo's out there...
And all sub based mmo's have a extremely hard time to stand straight.
GW2 / Eve Online <----i prefer some sort of these sub / btp mmo's if the Sub aint worth it.

Looks like a slightly improved GW2 with a more realistic style rather than artistic.
Real pretty, nice looking combat, great looking world, looks like they paid attention to character models and laggy sieges.
Almost interesting. Almost. Still not worth a sub :P Tell me when they price it reasonably.
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?
