So... most people won't care about that? ( I mean in Nazi Germany no one who wasn't either A) smart or B) of jewish descent cared about what was happening in the country ).

    Microsoft messed up bad.

I already pre-ordered my PS4 and already own a Wii U. I highly doubt I will buy a MS console this generation(had xbox and 360).

They offer nothing this generation. Smart TVs already have apps and things in them. PS4 is more powerful, Wii U has a better 2nd screen(smartglass is not as good). PC has better FPS controls and servers, etc.

The Football thing is cool for sports fans and I love sports, but I feel like I can get that from elsewhere like an app or tablet, its not something that will be exclusive to the xbox1, many consoles, tablets, phones, etc will be making Tv much more interactive and fun. If that was their big deal, its not as big as they though or exclusive to their machine.

The Wii U already controls the TV changes channels, on/off, controsl cable box, has a guide on the gamepad screen, lets you talk to people while watching shows and sports on the gamepad and many other things. So liek I said I expect Sony, and many companies to do this type of stuff also.

IDK what they were thinking and now lying and going to Nintendo events at Best buy trying to talk Nintendo fans into getting an Xbox1 during the Nintendo E3 event hahahah, sad.

    GAME TIL YOU DIE!!!!

Reading up on the Xbox One, I have to admit that I will never purchase another Xbox console again. Even if the One comes out and they somehow removed all the negative aspects, I would not support a company that would try to pull that BS. Imagine if something happened, lets say Sony decided not to continue in consoles, bankruptcy... whatever doesn't matter... Microsoft's gaming division would be the next stop for next-gen with the Wii U as a super weak alternative. They'd be able to pull anything they wanted! Yargh.

    PS4, here I come!

With all the recent news, I think this console begs to be "jailbreak'd" and hackers of all sorts are gonna be all over it as soon as it is released.

Xbox Live better be more secure than Fort Knox

Xbox dropped the price to $499, not bad but still 100$ more.

PC's are already at better spot though. Not in the same price range as consoles are but if you spend a good grand or two in a gaming dedicated enthusiast PC, you will be miles ahead in performance and graphical fidelity in games than consoles can hope to be even when not optimized for YOUR system. This is especially true for consoles at launch when the infrastructure is "new".

That doesn't count for much when you want just that ONE game - like The Division, which is next-gen console ONLY.

I know that feeling well, when I bought Xbox360 just to be able to play Red Dead Redemption.

    PS4, here I come!

    What about Sony shenanigans?

    • The PSP kept getting updated, and lost the homebrew functionality from its initial release.
    • The PS2 was supposed to have a HDD, but that never really took off, and EU never got one
    • The PS3 was set to be released in Europe Nov/Dec 2006, but then they did not have enough diodes for the Blu Ray drive and in Sep they announced the EU release to be delayed until March 2007. They have concerns about stock shortage of PS4s, so this may happen again. ETA for PS4s in EU is Nov 21st, but that could change with Sony. At least MS get it organised and you are not left disappointed.
    • They allowed Linux to be installed on the PS3, and then with an update removed it
    • The PS3 network got hacked in 2011 which brought the service down for weeks, and compromised peoples accounts and payment information
    • Sony also looked into blocking 2nd hand games, and acquired a patent, with management being divided about it, so DRM is still a possibility on the PS4, and even though Sony do not block 2nd hand games themselves (which I think is what they are blabbing at E3), publishers might, and so far as Sony have not commented on DRM much, if it does happen it will be worse than the Xbox One - Unable to trade in game, and not be able to share with anyone
    • Also they have acquired a patent to stop a game and show ads in F2P games. - Imagine playing Planetside 2 or Everquest Next and game pauses to shove an ad on you

I do not have faith in Sony, but I believe that MS will undo this nonsense, as they have always done things to come out on top - the original Xbox was sold at a loss to the company (and with the Xbox ONE it seems they have already dropped the price), and when Xbox 360 users got RROD they fixed the consoles free of charge. MS have always done good by their customers, Sony have not.

I do not agree with MS policies for the Xbox ONE, and I will not get one when they are in place, but I am not getting a PS4 either. The Xbox ONE showed twice more exclusives than PS4, and no PS4 exclusive interested me. If the Xbox ONE does not have all these negative aspects then I would get one guaranteed - I was impressed by 9 Xbox ONE exclusives and that is not including the games that will be multiplatform, but I am not getting a PS4 and have no game to play on it.

I don't find any of those nearly as offensive as what MS is trying to pull off. Ok homebrew gone... not a restriction... linux not easily installed anymore... not a restrictio.... PS3 network down, so were many others, shit happens, not a restriction, as for the patent application, if you follow them at all you'll know many things are filed for regardless of intent. Again, no restirction. Ads in a F2P game? F2P games are stupid anyways, very few are worth my time to begin with. I pay for my games. You really expect people to put out games for 100% free? HAH. They make it painful if you try to play for free, or down right force you to pay. So ads are probably the least of your problems. An ad in Planetside 2 would most likely take place during loading, whoopeee.

I have faith in neither. But sony has not wronged me. In fact, I got freebies for their screw ups too. (Station Cash, skins and some free games).

I respect your opinion, but my problem is with restrictions. If it isn't an online game, or it can't rationalize why it needs to be online, then I have no respect for any form of DRM that requires the internet. That with the other issues and MS has lost a customer.

Oh and I am not worried about being monitored by Kinect ;) Its literally the whole used game and DRM bullcrap I can't stand.

Sony looked into blocking second hand games, realized it was a bad idea and backed off from that avenue.

Not so sure about the advertising bit. That's possible, but not unless they are sure they can maintain their "hero" status with something like that in place. XBox 360 beat them in revenue and units sold, they'd be dumb to blow an easy win now.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Actually, the PS3 outsold the 360 even though the 360 launched a year earlier and at a lower price point lol. Last count was PS3 77 million units while Xbox 360 had 76 million units.

I agree that they'd be dumb to blow an easy win.

It's not a mistake.  Your games are tied to your Xbone Live account and if you get banned, your games are no more.  It's not hard to figure that out even without the tweet..

As an OS for Mobile devices (tablets and phones), Win8 is fine.

As an OS for desktops and laptops, it is subpar.

It doesn't surprise me that MS opted to go with Win7 as the OS of choice for the xbox one.

Besides, giving the track history for the Windows OS, it most certainly isn't suprising that Win8 sucks.  If you think about it, it's like every other Windows release is good.

In any case, it doesn't matter what MS lies about at this point.  They need to do some serious backpeddling to regain the trust of the xbox crowd.  Sure, the used game policy sucks, but I can live with that since I normally buy roleplaying, strategy, racing, and the occasional 2-days-to-beat action game.

What I can't live with is the online "requirement" and the  policy on the camera.

Yep, having to login and re-authenticate every 24-hrs would most certainly make it to where you can't play your games if your account is banned.

At least logic would dictate that.

Makes you wonder though, if you can play your games and "authenticate" with a banned account; why even HAVE that stupid requirement??

Yeah that's the problem with getting too attached to something that's not really in your control. A lot of the noise comes from the X360 owners. While it's a very simple solution to just ditch Xbox if it no longer caters to you, they just can't let it go easily. Halo, Forza and the other exclusives must be that hard for them to resist.

  • EiviEivi Member Posts: 96

I'll be getting both, hiding the PS4 behind my TV though (im not a 13 year old anymore). I don't really feel that any of the restrictions imposed by the console (XBO) will actually affect me. I mean, My connection has been solid for god knows how long, added to the fact that I can authenticate using my mobile BB if my home BB goes down. I don't trade in games (i become far too attached to them), I collect consoles so intend on keeping my PS3/XB360. Generally only buy new aswell.

Anyway, I was just happy to see some people come to the aid of MS after the severe bashing its been getting recently.

I'm guessing you posted this to the OP's second point?

The Windows-based OS in X1 IS based on Windows 8, along with their gpu/cpu combo from AMD.

That's what makes the point that the "dev kits" they were using to showcase X1 games at E3 were running Windows 7 and were powered by nVidia - AMD's main competitor (on the gpu department) - interesting.

You can also see the backspace icon for the Battelog at the top right of the BF4 demo they ran during the conference.

But then again, Patrick Soderlund didn't say it was running on X1, at least. Just that they were showing uncut BF4 gameplay running at 60 fps =)
