Wanted to ask a very simple question, myself i enjoy this game very much and wish that they can maintain at least 1milions sub if more than thats all the better. What you guys think ?
lol a bit silly of a thread honestly. If it hits over 1 million I'd be shocked. Rift which I feel (arguably) was the best AAA title release in some times didn't get that 1 mill mark and the game itself was well designed and created. MMos are just not likely to keep that 1 million mark, or it would be very difficult to do so. If global, its more plausible of course, though its still a rough thing to do with the over-satuerations of MMos making us not give a damn about a game if its not perfect, giving no chance for its development like MMos had a chance with in the past.

Not as much as they could of had if this was the first FF 14 to be released. No more than 2-300k, then it will go f2p or b2p like everything and will probably cap at 5-700k. Unfortunately the theme park games just aren't cutting it anymore, while they are good game the people who aren't tired of it are playing WoW. Honestly you could make the perfect MMO and you wouldn't get numbers anywhere near what WoW had. Wow is the exception not the rule, nothing will ever come close to it's numbers no matter how good it is. It was just at the right place and right time.

Id say 150k after a year from a high of 350k
I think pretty much everyone think same as me, i enjoy the game and already planing to sub to it. My opinion always has been that at least make 500k subs.
Originally posted by XeoMatrix00 Darn it wanted to add a 2 + million option, hit back by mistake, sorry guys. If you think it may be more than 2 million just hit the 2 million option.
I wouldn't worry about that, it will be lucky to sustain 500K annually

I don't think any model works anymore. Neverwinter is F2P and took a month to drop significantly in terms of players playing the game.

I think that's more due to how the F2P was (expensive and a bit intrusive) and the game itself.
League of Legends used a F2P from the start and is still running strong and is the most actively played game currently.

League of Legends is not an MMORPG. Due to this, it's pricing model can not effectively be compared to MMORPG pricing models. The type of game really does have a large impact on the design of the pricing model and how pricing models can successfully be implemented.
Hater answer : It will be F2P or dead in 1 hour of launch
Everyone else : Don't care I'll play if I enjoy it and leave if I get bored or don't like the direction.
IF most people thought like you did, MMORPG.com and possibly every MMO related forum would cease to exist. I feel like 83% of mmo site's traffic is related to people simply not accepting that they don't like an MMO and moving on. Instead you got them spending time trolling and saying lolBAD and saying how this game should be like the prequel or it should be more like X. And how the game did not meet their expectations aka hype, even though said individual is usually 100% responsible for the hype themselves.
Now to contradict myself.
I honestly want to play this game, I just don't want to pay a monthly sub.

Do you even read these and other MMO related forum? Most of the threads posted are extreme opinions on either end of the scale shouting at each other whilst not acknowledging the other side.I just summed up the usual responses(with a little exaggeration for effect) including the moderate one to a question that will attract said responses.
I think realistically we'll see a sustained 250-400k subs in US/EU and between JP and China probably another 350-500k.
It all depends on updates, content additions, how polished and well balanced the "end game" content is, how fast they can put in housing and add additional jobs, depends on how the PvP arena and Company PvP works out...
You know, just like every game.
The big X-factor is the Playstation playerbase - both PS3 and PS4 - it's a market most MMOs haven't touched yet, there has to be some untapped potential there, especially with the Final Fantasy name attached to it.
But honestly?
Between FFXV and KH3, FFXIII-3, a probable Tomb Raider sequel, additional "HD remakes" of classic FF games etc.
Square Enix is not going to be hurting for money, FFXIV will not be going free to play any time soon.
Much more likely to go into an extended maintenance mode ala WAR than go F2P.
But still, 11 or so years later and FFXI is still releasing expansions and performing well.
FF MMO playerbase is historically loyal.
Maybe remake is enough to sway FFXI loyal to stay with FFXIV?
Lots of factors here. I'd be interested in how well the preorder campaign has done given the very good praise and media attention they got during E3.

The better question is how long until it goes free2play.
After a month or 2 when the that new game shine fades away this game is very similar to SWTOR, RIFT and TSW all of which are f2p or b2p.
I just dont see how a sub model can compete when its competition is all free and of equal quality.
