Also.. on an unrelated yet related note. They just un-lifebanned the most notorious scammer and credit duper on our server. Guess they'll take anyone's money now.

Interesting!!!
Must admit that when I first respec'ed in the NGE it bugged out. I ended up as a classless CL84, with no specials, 3K health and unable to gain XP. Tried to raise a ticket, wouldn't let me. Went onto the launchpad chat, no CSR's. Used there web page help, where I was informed I had to contact a CSR in game eventhough that was impossible.
Eventually a respec took, but needed a few attempts. Havn't tried contacting a CSR since, even though I lost all XP (from cl80+) when I had to double respec back into Jedi just to get the profession rewards. Something I'm going to have to do again, as I did that when there was an issue with the CL78 reward not being issued.

Well I hate to wade in here and get the 500 million flames, personal attacks, name calling etc. But the suspension of in game CSR's and whatever the hell is going on with chat/e-mail in game right now do not bode well to me. Currently I do not work in the gaming industry, but do work for a Telecom Vendor, this all seems rather odd, more so with the customer service people than anything else up to date. Would love to hear the take on this from Wepp, or anyone else who might have an "uncle" or something *wink* *wink*

tried the boards a bit ago ( forum processing notice)
i will say it seemed to go smoother today as far as spawn and wild stuff, but missions did not spawn after getting there waypoints didn't work deleted tried for two more waited a while in case it was lag
it felt very strange not having guild chat or tells like a singal player game instead of a mmorpg....
Its pretty obvious the game is done now. The first thing to get cut is always customer service support. This is a sure sign that a meeting occurred where a plan was initiated to bring about the end of this product.
Torres recently missed his G4TV interview to attend a meeting. Having been in hundreds of board rooms I'll make a guess that the meeting went something like this....
Well folks the numbers arent good. We lost several thousand more subscribers than we anticipated. The Starter Kit isnt meeting projections. Therefore we must slash customer support. We are also suspending all future projects related to this game (ie. updates, major publishes, porting to console).
We are currently on hold until we get a more clear picture of December sales of said product.
I'm also guessing their in-house Public Relations team recommended total silence on the issues (also why Torres cancelled). SOE has other mmorpgs in the works and must be careful to protect its diminishing reputation. Things like the recent root command on their music cds hurt. Plus they were also caught paying teens to graffiti walls with PSP logos in Los Angeles last week. Their rep is hurting right now and the better road is silence until this blows over.
I will guarantee you this game wont make it past the 1st quarter of 06
All chat services are down on the East Coast servers for now while they do backend work (an announcement has been made on the forums). It's part of the 9 hour downtime, but not sure why they opened them up when the chat part is still being worked on...
As for CSR support, they were helping yesterday on Chilastra, a guildmate had one helping him get some NPCs out of the ground so he could finish his quest
What server was this on?
SOE has cut 25% of there support staff in the past month, more cuts to come in january.

I'm sorry, but I fail to remember when there really was any in-game support.
I hate to point this out, but if they are canning the game, why bother with the NGE? Why bother with ToOW? There is no point whatsoever. All you naysayers go on and on about how the game is dead but yet there is all kinds of maintenance going on etc.
CSR support is not down because the game is dead. It's down because the game is in such a severe state of transformation and until they get the thing fully over to the NGE, I suspect there is not much the CSR's can do.
The logic behind the imminent shutdown of SWG is very flawed. Riddle me this please! SOE had a happy (well as happy as they were going to be) player base of about 250K. That is well above the profit line in MMO terms. So what you naysayers are telling me is that they dumped that entire group and implemented massive changes so they could shut the game down? That isn't making a lot of sense to me.
What makes perfect sense to me is that they are moving the game away from slow, boring and only rewarding for those who spend their lives playing. They are opening the game up to the mass market. A group that SWG was basically inaccessible to up until now. How you people think that this will fail and kill the game I really don't understand?
You may not like it and I can totally relate to that. It is by no means perfect. It is however mass market "friendly" and also carries the SW name. SOE has received bad press and many cancellations but if you think for a second this was not anticipated, expose another vein! They knew the reaction to the CU was bad and could ONLY have drawn the conclusion that the reaction to the NGE would be worse.
All those who go on and on about the imminent SWG2, drink some more! It may materialize but since it is more than likely no more than a paper project at present you can expect to wait AT LEAST 2 years and very probably more.
I know some of you would like nothing more to see SWG tank because you feel betrayed and ripped off. I sympathize! It isnt going to happen! All the conclusions you are drawing are wrong. It is definitely going through a hard time, a time of drastic change, but the actions of SOE do not indicate a shutdown. Will there be server consolidation? Possibly. Will there be job cuts at SOE? Maybe! Will the game be dead in 2006? No, not a chance. Nothing points to that at all.
As far as Torres avoiding that interview, I understand that perfectly. This is not the right time for him to take an interview. SOE know they will get creamed now. They will wait until the NGE dust has settled. All the whiners and moaners will no longer be able to post on the SWG forums when their subs run out. They will move on when they realise there collective whining will accomplish nothing. I know, I used to be one of the whiners.
Just use some deductive reasoning and you will come to the right conclusions. Did they screw the vets? Oh hell yes they did! That, most of you got right. The reasons they did it are what you all have wrong! It wasn't to close the game down. It was to generate more interest. And that it will do!

They swore up and down that the sky was "not" falling and that the game would go on and that the game would be even more popular with the changes that were being made. People like this became delusional...and well...they even resorted to lying about server pop numbers in the hopes to get others to play...soon though, even they had to admit the game was dead. That game was AC2.

I play every day, and I can ASSURE you that if the amount of activity I see on my server is what you consider "dead", then you are the one who is delusional.
Out with the old, in with the new. Hopefully the whiners and moaners will get bored and find something else to do. FACE IT, the old SWG is dead and they aren't rolling back etc. You can hate it and pray for it to fail all you like. It won't change the fact that SWG isn't going anywhere in the near future.

I never made a comment like that! I simply said my server was fairly busy. Truth is you're the sad one. If you don't like the game and you think it is dead, leave! Why are you here?
