It is true. There is literally ZERO chance that the game will just like anyone here imagines it. So enjoy your dreams and hopefully enjoy reality come Aug 2.
Obviously someone is jealous, mad, or just disgruntled. Can't stand the fact that people are excited, even if waaaay premature, about this game and not yours?
I am actually really happy i didnt sign up for SOELive and make accomodations. its probably gonna be a waste of a few hundred dollars. I'm not saying EQN is going to be crap, but people here are right, its not going to be what i want. I'll be lucky if it checks even 1 box of stuff i want.

I know* EQN is going to surpass my expectations.
Legends of Kesmai, UO, EQ, AO, DAoC, AC, SB, RO, SWG, EVE, EQ2, CoH, GW, VG:SOH, WAR, Aion, DF, CO, MO, DN, Tera, SWTOR, RO2, DP, GW2, PS2, BnS, NW, FF:XIV, ESO, EQ:NL
I'm actually really excited for the reveal!
Wow, so much negativity and hate towards a game no one knows nothing about. Which sounds more ridiculous, being excited about something you know nothing about (when some sites who have seen it have gone crazy over it), or hating on something you know nothing about (but those who have seen it go crazy over)?
My question is, for those so sure it's going to be terrible and you hate it, what if it surpasses your expectations? What if its the game you've been dreaming of? You know nothing about it so how can you know it won't be? Or will your joy in hating it or resentment of the company override the ability and potential to actually play/enjoy the game?
Yeah, because no one could have hope for a game and discuss it, but also be realistic, just cannot happen.
I remember the amazing level of hype for: GW2, Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, FFXIV (1.0), AoC, SWTOR (oh god how could i forget this one)...and on and on...
C'mon... there HAS to eventually be 1 game that actually DELIVERS.
Here's to holding out hope.
That's why I'm excited. what if its amazing? I have faith in SOE. My last bit of faith, but faith none the less.
As I have said before, OP: It's like this every time a game gets announced. Get over it now, or find a new place to hang out.
I don't blame people for being excited. I've been there before, but after years and years of this, I have learned to at least wait until the game is announced and there is some information to look at.
I'll tell you all a (not so) secret about evaluating MMO games before they are released, but after the official marketing push starts. Listen to what the game developer IS NOT saying about the game. This is how many of us know SWTOR (and many other games) were going to suck before they were even close to release.
For example, Bioware barely said a word about space gameplay, or crafting, or PvP, or social features all the way up until the game released. All you heard was "Story, Story, Story", and so the writing was on the wall. I glance over the information they put out there, then I start asking questions and pay attention to the stuff they dance around.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
Well we don't exactly know "nothing". We know its F2P, we know its being made on the forgelight engine, we know it will incorporate storybricks, and we know it has classes. Some of that is exciting, and some of that could cause fear... and we all know fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering...
It could never disappoint me because i hold all expectations at around 5/10 until the game comes out.
I know all too well how developers like to send out their PR guys and marketing teams to stir up hype and make a game sound better than it is.Not often am i ever surprised or sit back and say WHOA this game is way better than i thought.I have grown to expect mediocre game design from all of the developers with one exception EPIC games but sadly they don't make MMORPG's and spend most of their time working on their game engines and supporting them.
I am quite certain that if Next did not have any cash shop,i would most likely play it.I expect it to be a 7/10 product and yes that is a high rating because there is no such thing as a 8/9/10 way too much needs to be done to hit those scores.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Pretty-much common sense. But it's so true. Play up the strengths. Defer from the weaknesses.
I wish I could remember where I read this but before SWTOR released, one of the people from BW was being interviewed and was asked about a question about features from SWG. And the response was something along the lines of "And look where they are now" Not a valid answer. Poetic justice I guess. But yeah, when they start avoiding direct questions. There is a red flag.
You would think it's common sense, but a lot of people have trouble taking note when a game developer is dancing around particular issues. I see a lot of people on these forums making statements like "It's only beta, I'm sure they will turn Y features on at launch" or "they are probably keeping it secret until launch", etc.
SWG: yes, look where they were. How many years was the game online? It might not have been the biggest game in the world, but it had a core of followers. Would have had more if they didn't NGE it. A lot of people who ignored the game in its last few years didn't know the devs were starting to put pre-NGE features back into the game, because so many people were asking for them back.
This is another reason I hold out some unusual hope for EQN. I think some people at SOE had to learn some lessons from SWG. I think they know now that they had some special features that more of the market is ready for. Evolved versions of those features, of course. They could make a mean hybrid by addressing strengths and weaknesses from SWG.

I don't believe the OP is in anyway stating or predicting that EQN will be bad.He is just stating that some people on these forums have convinced themselves that EQN will be everything they ever wished for in a MMORPG with no basis for such a belief in fact.
Such people are almost certainly headed for disappointment on varying degrees.Hopefully though what we do get is a great game even if it doesn't turn out to be the savior of mankind.
No evidence , No common sense, No reasoning, No logic.
For those that do not know the term ,The OP's post is a very good example of a Troll.
I believe that SoE can design a good game. But I really question this one. I know am repeating myself from other threads but it's the only thing I have to go on right now.
Looking at the (not good) effect the ability to buy gems and trade for gold had on GW2's overall economy, as well as the effect tradeable items from Anarchy Online's Cash Shop had on those game's economies As well as some not so subtle coding to encourage more shop use, I have some very strong doubts for a sandbox MMO with the same feature. I am taking a "I'll believe it when I see it" stance on this one, because as of now, I can't see how a cash shop in a sandbox is going to work.
It may be possible for the game to let me down.
How could it let me down?
crappy crafting mini-game where you can die from cutting wood.
to simple of a interface where I literally feel I am just tapping 12471247 to kill something while watching tv
reach max lvl within 1 week with only a few hours a day played.
have a station cash sign pop up in the middle of screen every 5 minutes just in case I didn't see it the other 300 times.
feel as if I have to buy station cash items to be competitive in PvP if there is any.
be made to feel like a noob if I do not have a game addon downloaded to track when a monster roars so the raid can all jump in the water and avoid the aoe
If the game is all hype to get people in general back into EQ since they have just redone the graphics to look like 2005 instead of 1998.
Other than that I think I might be pleased by what I see on Aug 2. After seeing and playing many hyped games, my real expectations are not as high as my concepts of a perfect game. It's kind of like real life. You have concepts of how everything can be drastically improved, but you are also grounded in the reality of how everything actually is.
