DnL finally released a skill tree chart thats been long awaited, and is seriously lacking and also has mis-spelled words etc, lol. With SOG starting tommorrow and almost 9,000 Pioneers already having spent a whopping $60 for the pre-order... the forums over there are a total nightmare now with locked threads galore. People wanting their money back, cursing, and all kinds of ruckus... Starting to look as bad or worse then the old Mourning forums of last spring. Gotta say tho, it is wildly entertaining in a "Jerry Springer" kinda way, hehe.

apperently they took all day to translate it from french. it's in a pdf file and the presentation is apparently horrible too, with words going outside of boxes etc. but i haven't seen it, don't have acrobat. but ye threads are getting locked left and right kinda funny.

Oh well, good thing I didn't pre-order and never even had an interest to pre-order it, we'll see what happens come SoG, good thing they are offereing some sort of preview, because by the looks of it they might very well see a lot of dissatisfied people. But who knows, maybe that isn't a complete skill tree listing, maybe it is, maybe they intend to add more before release time, we'll see. These next 6 months will be crucial for them, let's see how well they manage it.
Uh oh... now their whole website is down hard. Guess it couldn't take the heat of 5,000 pissed off pre-paid customers and just went down for the 10 count.

I honestly don't know how 8,881 people were gullible enough to pre-pay for DnL (and at higher than market prices too). I mean they can't even keep their website up under heavy loads, I'm sure 1000s of people will be complaining come tommorrow/tonight when they can't sign up for SoG cause the site is down, and this will, of course, make the website even MORE likely not to come back up.
I can't even get on now to see this new pdf in fact. Does anyone know of a link to the actual file that's not on the DnL main site? I really am in the mood for a laugh.

The pdf doesn't inspire confidence though, is any of this even "in game" yet? Doesn't look like it...hehe...here's hoping anyway!
WoW has like 2 million people in NA/euro and they have one of the most unstable forums of all time. You think with all that money they could pay for a forum that gives you a better then 50/50 chance of eating your post.
I will agree though, paying $60 for a preorder is pretty funny. I still don't get why this game is so hyped. I've never seen anything to deserve it.
Well it is certainly VERY vague as well, for example wtf is "God Slap"?? There is no other mention as to the description of all these abilities. Also notice that there is no cloth armor. Hmmm, perhaps everyone can wear rags or cloth armor, I dunno... Just a wild guess.
Also note a couple of things: This skill tree list also seems to be their complete game manual at this time. Hmmm. There also is a new sticky posted allowing people to ask questions about their insanely unclear and vague "manual" and "Skill tree chart"... But now with over 9 pages of questions, there has only been two questions answered, both answers creating more questions then actual answers. Fun stuff.
We'll see what happens. This might get as interesting in the VERY near future as the old Mourning forum boards. Heh.

We're not talking about losing the ODD post every now and then. I mean even mmorpg.com loses some of my posts (which is why I ALWAYS Ctrl-C everything I write on forums, it saves me having to reinvent my thoughts 50% of the time...I hate that).
I'm talking about the fact that at busy times NONE of their site even loads up, the whole database gets jammed and pretends like it's not there. A totally different story from the WoW forums (which I've only seen down a couple of times, and on which I've NEVER even lost a post, not that I've posted that often).
ive never really understand all the hype behind this game, looks like i was right in not following it.

And based on what did they preorder it ? Not based on screenshots because they sucked big time. Not based on demo movie because there were none...
Only based on promises of what will be implemented.

Dont you realise that I can now build a web site model few screenshots with 3dmax and photoshop , put on a huge list of COOL features, hype the game on the forums a little and than ask for preorders!!!! And you would never see your money back....

This is the skill set for SoG, not DnL.
SoG is the FREE prequel to DnL
SoG is in development and not a finished game
All skills mentioned are only the general discriptions of each group of sub-skills that will be discovered in game.
Preordering is a bad principle for MMOGs, as it is a sign that the game company is desperate for money. If they are short of funds and need investors, then they should seek out venture capital like any other company.
Way too many MMOGs are being released that are incomplete according to their promised content. A game company should be confident enough to release a product and gain customers based on what they actually have to offer, and not lure players to preorder with a reward of receiving unbalancing in-game advantages. That just sends up a red flag.
Preordering 6 months in advance is just ignorant, and players should know better. What other product do people preorder without knowing exactly what they are getting? None.

Well, not completely but yep a pre-order 6-months before release IS crazy, if they let you into the Beta test for pre-ordering it would be mildly better.
I think the real issue is the charge of $60 it smacks of greed & the fact they now have close to $1 million in the bank kind of confirms it. I do agree that it's unfair to give the pre-order players a big advantage in-game, a head start is fair enough and game companies must be honest about the status of the game & the offer *before* they take the $'s.
I'm sure they'll learn from the various pre-order disaters of the past 6-months.

That is the reason I'm not worried at the moment. Now if this was the real version of DnL, and not some limited pre-history sneak peak. I'd be real worried. The lack of any real info has got me excited. I haven't been this excited about a MMO since UO. Because that game was also very hush hush on alot of it's info.

People who knows me knows I'm not what you'd call DnL fanboi but they DID tell everyone SoG would NOT be a open-beta, it will be Dark and Light Techdemo/preview aka LITE version of the future game...the REAL DnL beta will be still going on as different version and only the content that has gone through the beta testing and is found stable enough will be put in SoG.
I'm a friggin foreigner and yet I seem to comprehend english better than many americans.
Sorry but anybody that pre-ordered for a game like this is pretty much getting what they deserve. Next time instead of pre-ordering just drive down the highway at 100mph and throw the money out the window.

It does. It a little less then 3 hours people will be bombarding the site for those SOG subscription keys. (The sign up thing starts at 1pm Est. Forums probably are down already. They said they would be taken off line at 2pm UTC which was an hour ago)

but I think she meant DnL is still under development, alas SoG is only 1/4 of DnL aka tech demo...the DnL beta is whole different product.

Bad philoshy to live by with an MMO and its a very good example on how games get launched in the state they do now. You SHOULD be buying a finished product and you SHOULD expect that. Once it is released it should be adding content, balancing, making adjustments to the game system but the game should not be un-finished.
I must have misunderstood when blacksac said it was in development and not complete as meaning it wasn't ready for release yet. Apparently he meant something else if its releasing today.
