biggest crash and burn for me is Dragon Prophets, fairly robust game that is being raped by Sony entertainment.. calling it beta and having a money grab cash shop is full bloom crap.. cash shop open means release dummies..
Maybe FF14 but hope they remedy with "reborn". But for sure on top of list Aion.
But more then being disappointed with game itself have been many times with bugs. Terrible start with War, Aoc, ... but still enjoyed them for long. I do not plan anymore to return as it looks for now ... but from this perspective they were not at all disappointment.
Mine was FFXIV because i have so much respect for Square Enix.I do not have much respect for most of the other developers so i could never be disappointed when i expect a weak game.
Earlier on i was a bit disappointed by Wow.I was not a Blizzard fan,i never found anything they did to be that good but there was a lot of marketing and hype behind Wow so like everyone else i went out and bought it.I did not expect a grandeur game but i expected a LOT better,i lasted all of one week before deciding on EQ2 as a much better product. At that time,i really did not understand just how big the marketing hype was behind Wow,i actually predicted it would be a complete fail "lol" yes really the only time i have ever been wrong about games. However being a success money wise still does not change what i think of the game because i know how much money Blizzard/Vivendi had ,i expected a really good game.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I want SWG (Despite the NGE crap.. the game was amazing. I didnt care if they added Jedi in because it was part of their lore and people were/are idiots for being upset about that and all that NGE crap. Every game has flaws and you still cant shut your mouths. Because of you whining bitching moaning about not getting what you want.. the game is gone. YOUR FAULT!)
Tabula Rasa (I miss this game so much more than any other mmos thus far and it is the only MMO that I could stand the fps genre and I couldnt even bother trying other fps games ugh.)
Warhammer is still alive and kicking. RvR is what is saving the game because it's definitely one of the best pvp aspects of the mmos out there, seriously. They do need a complete overhaul and revamping on the game, for sure.. especially on some classes, questing and crafting. They need to make this to f2p in order to save the game if they want to. I honestly haven't really enjoyed much pvp in any mmos other than Warhammer and WoW. /fact

It is a vegetable and still taking a 15$ subscription from its players. Mythic is just letting it sit there until it goes below the profit margin. They, as a studio, moved to the development of mobile games and I would bet that there is only 9 people left on their MMORPGs, 3 completely on UO and the other 6 moving between the latter, DAoC, and WAR. Sad thing too, you have to find out their new direction as a company by going to their main webpage; they don't even bother telling their loyal MMORPG fan-base about it.
In the bigger picture, Mythic simply can't do anything with it either, EA calls the shots because they hold the license and resources. It needs a hell of a lot more than a simple F2P transition and even if it got that plus extra, it would still be playing the same game of catch up that is has since it launched (now more than ever because it's been stagnant for so long).
Oh, I still play it but it wasn't really the game that they initially talked about, different servers being affected by players' decisions, The Balaur were supposed to even out the conflict, not really much of a "world".
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Err, people who actually pay attention, like me, knew that SWTOR is going to be just WoW with Star wars skins. You could read this in their dev blogs. People just chose to ignore all that and were expecting SWG 2.0....that is their fault though not developer's.
With a crystal ball, maybe? The game was really not very open to the public.
You can tell a great deal about a product from its marketing. All its marketing was about voice overs, scripted quests in instances, and CGi animations. And all the leaks talking about what a disaster it was internally. And the fact that it was EA, who has the worst MMo track record. And that it was a singleplayer RPG developer working on it.
Yes it was very clear what kind of game it was going to be.

And I never so GOOD. And to think I was not paying any attention to all fuss around before release. Started to think to buy and try as close as maybe month or so before release . Did not have anything good to play at that time ... just to discover later my best game ever, even better then Wow. Never in my life enjoyed so much every second in game as I still do in Swtor.
Said this I could not care less for Pvp then I do and as I know many were disappointed by Ilum.
WAR. It had so great potential but they made a childfriendy mix between DaoC and Wow instead of a real Warhammer game. The only part of the game that is Warhammer is Altdorf and that is just because GW forced them to remake it, which also is the reason they scrapped the last 4 cities and the entire endgame.
I played Warhammer fantasy RPG for many years, a great P&P game and if Mythic had played it as well and tried to make something similar it would have been epic.
And all unique planned features it actually were supposed to have (like appearance changing as you level) were all cut out before launch.
There are others, like SIGILs vanguard who hired in the worst inept programmers we seen today and AoC & AO which both were released a year too early.
Originally posted by Masterfuzzfuzz I'd have to go with GW2. It was so promising but the lack of skills, mixing classes, no rewards after level 80, and pseudo action combat really wasn't what I thought it was gonna be. No sub so worth the purchase but it felt very average.
Basically this. Though what truly destroyed the game for me above anything else was their attempt at "fixing" the Holy Trinity. I always looked at GW2 as a 5AM infomercial where they invented a problem that didn't exist, and then fixed it. The Holy Trinity was one of these situations. They convinced all of us it was a serious problem and then suddenly everyone started agreeing it was. Next thing you know their "solution" was (If you were playing hardcore.) literally you running the game with all glass cannons and MAYBE a support. We went from 3 unique roles, with loads of different ways to achieve them, to 1 role with 3 or 4 ways to achieve it. Don't even get me started on them removing raids...
Every MMO released after year 2008. Hope WoD will change it

SW: ToR - hands down. I don't know how Bioware did it, but they made Star Wars boring for me. For killing Star Wars... the sentence should be death by force choke. Or any other choke. And for inventing every MMO mistake once again - sentence should be banishment from MMOland for the Bioware.
Second place for Tera - I was hoping for something... I don't know? Good? Something to steal some play-time from my GW2 addiction (wich is getting boring). Didn't steal my heart in beta and really bored me after I tried it f2p. Well - simply not a game for my simpleton taste .
And I can't forget my newest disappointment. Neverwinter - for beeing everything I didn't want and lacking everything I needed. DnD
4 - put here any other korean p2w MMO WoW clone...

Not really a MMO, but close ... Guild Wars
I had studied it for years and yet when I decided to play it, I was completely bored to death in just a couple of days.
