So what do you think, was it real or fake?

I want to belive it but I don't think the website could take 10,000 hits in under a minute, let alot get people through whatever sign up process, then switch the site to we're full!!

There was no long signup process. Simply enter ur name/pw then presto, your spot is reserved.

i agree, there is no way they could process that much information in that space of time. something is definitely wrong here people.
  • SchuylerBainSchuylerBain Member Posts: 8

Ok... the "registration" was more of a "conformation." All they did was flag your already existing account. There was next to zero information sent. We are talking 125 per second or 8 per ms... impressive, but no where near impossible.

I got one and I am in the USA. I have a co-worker and half-a-dozen friends who did not get in...

  • DeviantCompDeviantComp Member UncommonPosts: 50

Well... Don't the 8,881 pioneers get spots reserved automatically? So in actuallity we are only talking about the remaining 1,119 in under a minute. That was my understanding.

  • SchuylerBainSchuylerBain Member Posts: 8
I am not sure, but I think it was 10k in addition to the 8,881, but I could have been mistaken.. not the first time, but honestly... there was hardly any "data" passed, no form to fill out... 125 "transactions" per minute is not that crazy.

I would think, if you consider the number of people who have been waiting for this game worldwide, is 10,000 people all hitting that "Let me in!!" key at the same time so far-fetched? Considering the number of people who play MMOs nowadays, I can't see any reason why this isn't the case. (Whether it is people who are truly interested in the game, or people looking for a feebee for 6 months...who knows...)

I managed to get my account (yay!). One second, I clicked for processing, the next I was in. As a test, to see if I could get my BF in (who was in class at Uni at the time), I tried again and it was full. Sad for him - good for his courses!

What would be the point in faking an account that was accepted? Not into mass conspiracy theories myself, but I'm sure before the game can be downloaded we will hear many!

Because I guess your missing the point.

18,881 people are already part of SoG, NP3 released an additional 10,000 settlers today that went within 80 seconds..!

That is kinda hard to believe...!

They shut down the forums, the galleries, race desrciptions, everything except for the regsitration page. Its a simple process of flagging accounts and sending e-mails, last time I heard the site had well over 170,000 members, so its not surprising that it only took 1 minute and 20 seconds.

umm...sorry correct me if I'm wrong, but there were 8881 people who pre-ordered who were guaranteed a spot. On Top of that, 10,000 keys were allowed to people who were able to register in the apparent 60 seconds needed. So in total there would be 18,881 people in game...not 18,881 + 10,000 feebees.

I remember them saying the server will hold 20 thousand players, so we wont get no lag no need to worry about that.

ok then just how many chinese accounts are there and will the servers cope?

    Well,

Its not all that hard to believe.

Personally me I got my account, I also signed up some folks who expressed they wanted in but just couldn't get to sign up today for work or whatever reasons...these weren't people I knew personally but some of them had been following the boards for "years" and while I was fairly new. I felt least Np3 could have done was let the long time followers of the game into SoG.

This pretty much required a complete stranger to trust me to gie me their forum login/password.

Since I had today off all I did was actually open up multiple windows with the login/passwords typed.

And then just kept trying to sign up for MY account....once it was up I just clicked "accept" through the multiple windows.

Now keep in mind I want to remind you these accounts are NOT MINE! I don't know these people and wasn't even able to get them all in...all and al;l myself and 4 others whom asked me to proxy a sign in for them got in. I am interested to see how the DnL forums will look when they come back up. Sadly I feel alot of long time fans still did not get in but least I tried to help. What burns my butt is people getting multiple accounts for people simply too lazy to do it themselves or the Ebayers. I also suspect that the Chinese did infact get alot of the accounts even if they were supposed to get special reserved accounts, whats to stop them from just using the same sign up as us? heck double your chances of getting into SoG eh?

And the accounts were gone ALOT faster then 80 seconds....closer to 40-50. By the time all the windows I had processing finished....5 of the 8 got in...and this was On the mark.

-Umm not only do the rules say your wrong, but your also a ...

You all crack me up.  Consider this...just in the last 2 weeks...flocks of SWG-refugees (75K+) have been waiting for a new MMO to land in.  DnL has been a topic on the boards almost daily and many have posted intent to get into this game.  It is totally possible for 10K+ users to be waiting at the moment it hit to get their account.

Also, as far as numbers go...right now, SWG forums have 3K people logged in or as guests.  If SWG..a dying game can have 3K users on their forums reading them...is it so hard to beleive that a new game like DnL could have 3X as many waiting for the moment to arrive to get 5 months of free MMO play in a brand new game?

In the scheme of MMO games, 10K users isn't many.  Not when games like WoW have 3Million.

  • MaebeahMaebeah Member Posts: 8

oki...well definitely it would be nice if long time lovers of the game received preference. Not all long time subscribers are people who are actually interested in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if those people who have been active within the forums have either had beta invite (involving who-knows-what-perks), have pre-ordered becasue they love the game, or have some secret known alien access to mod-only forum hacks which allow them preference.

Any way. Things have played out like they have. We wait, we see, we pray (anyone know latin? - this could be good :D)

it is pretty unbelievable considering i kept trying to register and it kept saying it hasn't started yet, then instantly said they were sold out. witch was a window of about 5-10 seconds.

there is no way in hell they lasted longer than 20 seconds i guarantee it and if they did i got screwed hehe.

but im sure its not "fake" or anything that would be stupid and pointless to tell us there is 10k keys when there really wasn't, what would they gain from that? nothing.

Dnl has a huge fan base and it showed today, i however am not going to lose any sleep over not getting a key, i will get one later when they release them or just play Dnl if it turns out to be a good game. ::::28::
