This was a free settlers account...
Totally ridiculous the overwhelming demand this game has. Notice it sold only 20 moments after it was listed. Sheeesh. Sick.
Can it possibly live up to this insane hype that it has???

For a game noone really knows how it plays or nothing about! The first bit of real info (skill trees) was a let down so why wont the rest of the game be?
People are stupid.
You'll all see for yourself, if it ever gets released.
Gonna sell my key on Ebay I got it for that reason!

Don't click here...no2
The thing I find really crazy is the free keys havent even been sent out yet they are selling.
Ahh see? It's happening already. This game isn't as hyped as the time it took to blast through 10k accounts may indicate.
500 people with 10 accounts each all opened up and clicking like mad just to make a profit. It is complete bull$hit. Why they didn't make it 1 submission per IP is beyond me.
It's a shame too, i would have gladly played this game for free, but I'll be damned if I'm paying for it, release or not. Oh well.

*agree*
That is stupid that they didn't limit the SOG accounts to 1 per IP address. Ofcourse people could still get thru that by using IP address blockers etc. What's amazing is peoples selfishness and greed. One guy on the IRC channel swore up and down that he had 27 accounts, and planned on selling 26 of them on ebay. Then a mod booted him saying that ebay selling of keys was against the Terms & Conditions.
Peoples greed these days is insane. I swear people will be selling their first born childs hearts on Ebay soon and kill their damn kid if they can make a buck doing it.

"Clicking"? I doubt any of the people who soaked up accounts for resale clicked. Botting websites is much easier than botting games. The only people clicking like mad were the poor suckers doing it by hand to get an account for themselves.

The same guy who purchased that account is also attempting to purchase

It doesn't exactly take a genius or someone with a marketing degree to realize Alchemic Dream is listing and buying the accounts for free promotion. If no one buys or bids on them within a certain amount of time, they will use the buy it now option. Free promotion is free promotion and when your funds are running low like Farlans are, they need all the free promotion they can get.
Nevermind that December to April is not 6 months...
"Fire is never a gentle master..."
This is why Dark and Light will rock your face....
Now if you actually did some research with a non-bias attitude you would find that this is actually a very good game. Let me list some features that set this game apart from the rest...that you probably did not even look up.
- A game map 2/3s the size of West Virginia in land area and 1/2 the size of Lake Erie in water area.
- Fully controlable flying mounts. (your flying mount will be able to attack too while flying)
- House building anywhere (more or less) in the world. Dark and Light is depending on the first people to make the first towns of the world by building houses with people (you dont have to) and make a community. Also you can make a fortress around your town to defend it from the other faction.
- Intelligent enemy AI, Monsters dont just attack you, they attack other monsters as well. (virtual food chain)
- In depth crafting system, Crafting quality will depend on star/moon alignment, season, altitude, among many other things.
- Social experience, It's not just about combat experience. You also get to raise social experience to further your political power.
- Open PvP cross faction. RvR setup.
- Dynamic and full of freedom, Whether you climb a mountain and hanglide your way down, jump off a flying mount 20,000ft in the air only to freefall for a few minutes and parachute the rest, or snowshield down a frozen icecap, Your in controll and you have total freedom.
- Real seasons and weather.
- Tempurature will effect your character. You wont be able to wear what you wear all the time. You'll have to wear something other than your combat gear if you decide to fly high, or go someplace cold, or if you decide to treck the endless deserts. Tempuratures will have negative effects on your character if your not wearing the right type of gear.
...and that's just saying a few things about it. Even I dont know that much about it. That only took a little time researching with a non-bias opinion for the game.
Mind you, not all of these features are going to be in their prequil "Settlers of Ganareth" that releases in a few days on Dec. 13th. A lot of that will be put in at the official release next april. I pre-ordered the game not because I thought SoG would be good... but because I know Dark and Light will be revolutionary to mmorpgs and set new standards of gaming.
Now let me tell you, all of these *planned* features sound really nice, but will they actually be ingame? And more importantly - will they actually be fun if put together into a game? I can wholeheartedly tell you: No!
"Fire is never a gentle master..."
Well excuuuuuussseee me mr. smarty-pants. But a majority of people dont know what the hell they are even talking about when it comes to this game and just flame to flame. I obviously cant direct a post at every single person becuase people are all at different stages, it was more directed to the people who don't know shit.
To the above poster, ingame flight/fight, and tempurature, and a few more are already in the game. I have full faith that 95% of those will be in there by release or shortly there after. Most of those are planned to be released in a later patch of SoG.
I have seen the beta as well and it's not that great, but that's why it's still in beta. All of my favorite games have sucked ass in beta.
Faith is the abscence of doubt... You have faith in DnL and NP3, so anything they produce is reason enough for you to reinforce your religious fanatism in this game. Looking at the game realisticly without your rose-colored glasses, might be better for your purse in the longrun. DnL is a huge project, done by a newbie company with no prior experience in this sort of business whatsoever. NP3 do not care about the community, they only care about the money they plan to make with DnL. Their track record of the last 3 years has shown us this. Furthermore, if you knew the insider info I know, you'd not be so faithful in this company. NP3 on R
"Fire is never a gentle master..."
Well fact is a lot of people really want to play this game. Like it or not, that is the case. And it is a video game, and good or bad is merely subjective. I agree that the accounts should have been 1 per IP, to not do so is astoundingly short sighted.
I really want to try this game too, just to see how it looks and feels.
We'll see how many more EBay auctions there are after SoG starts and people realise how empty and lacking it is.
All SoG is is DnL in its current state. Its literally DnL beta. You think the devs would go to the trouble to make a bunch of new systems for a temporary product? Forget it. SoG is the culmination of NP3's last 3 years on this game. That, and they even delayed SoG now
BINGO
They didn't anticipate the hype the game initially received.. Which is why they have attempted to build a halfway decent game, in order to capitalize on the possible revenue. So in 2003 delays began to occur, because they are not able to create anything the majority of the public will accept. With so many broken promises, they knew it was put up or shut up in November 05, so began the concept of SoG. Sadly, even the build they had in November was still crap, so in a moment of desperation, they delayed it until December 8th...
Trust me, ive had my hype/faith/expectations crushed many times. Like many of you, I once followed this game with an extreme amount of confidence it would succeed...
Like it or not, DnL will be trashed all across the internet when it finally opens up to the public.
Thats exactly why I don't think it will be that great I mean dont get me wrong the Beta right now is OK... but not anything to hoot an hollar about.
I think DnL will lose a lot of its fanbase because of this to be honest... because ignorant morons will think that is all the game has to offer and leave.
Personally i dont give a flying rats ass about DnL. If it comes out thats fine. If it's a good game when it comes out even better.
More importantly did you know that if you drink a bottle of tequila on a thursday evening while watching a hockey game you'll arrive at work the next day still buzzed? Apparently i need to work up my alchohol tolerance skill.
PT Barnum would love the mmorpg industry..
Make a difference!
Mehh screw ebaying, I'd trade my SoG account for a DDO beta account. Or if you're a really hardcore DnL fan and WoW hater, give me your WoW account with a lvl 60 .
Trust me, you don't want a DDO Beta account.

Agreed Ashkent.
The following doesn't just apply to DnL, but to anyone in the MMORPG RMT selling on eBay.
Keep in mind that due to eBay being unwilling to police their own community effectively some MMORPG fans who feel the RMT/RMIT/RMAT are detrimental to MMORPGs sometimes take action of a guerilla nature on these types of auction. Because Jack/Jill RipofftheMMORPGcommunity's auction sold does not mean he will see his/her money. Nor will he/she be able to do much against the winning eBayer. I cannot personally condone this type of action though, naturally.
In this particular case they can relist, but SoG will be out by then. If it is a PoS they won't be selling that key for much, if at all. If it is good they will relist, maybe even for more $$, but may find that for a second time the auction winner has mysteriously evaporated. Now that must be annoying.
