I don't think anyone that drives a car in a city should be complaining about insulting other people with swear words.

    Best thread ever.

    Seriously I "heart" you all.

    1. Generally accepted in "business" to refrain from "colorfull" language, when in public, representing a company.

    2. It is harder to not use curse words, in my experience. Since, they replace so many adjectives so frequently in spoken language.

    My 2 pennies.

    No.

I can personally attest to saying way worse than "Fuck" in an open channel and not getting banned. You have to be directly insulting someone and it generally has to be pretty severe.

[mod edit] Profanity Filter!!! Thats the point of them, its so if you dont want to read words that you find offensive you dont have to.

    End of story.

LOL he said a bad word OMG who cares really. Can't we think of something else to discuss about EQN?

If his bad language offended you fine, you had every right to turn the channel. No one made you continue to watch it.

Its not like he was on every channel an forced you to listen.

    Politically correctness at its finest.

    Meh

Political correctness has nothing to do with representing a company.

He's trying to sell a product, most people who sell products try to respect their userbase.

SoE's announcements and Sony announcements are a world of difference.

And no, saying "fuck" and being a troll every 5 minutes isn't being respectful.

And you have a right to feel that way...and if Sony didn't like it they have a right to Fire him... although I doubt that will happen. So complaining about it won't get you anywhere!

I say again, you don't like it don't watch it! but since you seem to have no problem re-posting the word that you so strongly resist that shows your a hypocrite.

I'd like to think he was playing EQN and it's just that damn good.

Fair enough if it offends you, just find it a bit silly to be griping over some naughty words.

So he said a few bad words, doesnt mean he needs to be reprimanded for them, just a friendly nudge to maybe lay off the language in future will do.

I'd hate to live in a world where I have to watch my tongue on everything I say throughout the day.

Like a motion to adjourn, a plea for decorum and professionalism is never out of order.

    Fight The Man.

Isn't it time for something fresh and new, a thread about Scarlet Blade maybe?

That game has an all ages audience

A convention in Las Vegas does not.

And you can say fuck all you want in guild chat, including some guilds that anyone can join.  Kind of like a live stream.  If you dont like it, leave the guild/stream.

I agree with you but this is currently false.

WoW has a T for Teen rating, EQ - T for Teens. They package these games to include the information so peoplewho dont want to hear these words avoid the games. You can say whatever you want as long as its not a personal attack or harmful to the general community.

Again, you can say "Bad Words" in open channels because there is a "Profanity Filter", thats why they invented it. They even turn it on at the start to be REALLY REALLY nice to people who would otherwise complain.

I think people are more concerned with the professionalism of the issue than the offensiveness.

I don't really have an opinion on it, personally. I was more worried as to how the whole thing was organized in general.

I agree.  Personally it doesn't bother me and I cuss a lot, but in the setting it was an extremely unprofessional move in my opinion.

It's almost as if the SOE team has been working hard and SOE Live is a place for them to unwind and have some adult fun with their fans.

This isn't the 50's, Leave it to Beaver is not on the Television. Get over it, move on and quit thinking that everyone who shows up on a video needs to be politically correct. I personally dislike the idea of people who idolize Hollywood Royalty. They aren't royal and their drama and shit stinks just as bad as yours does. People are people, he isn't running for office.

Tbh, this is probably the first SOE Live thing many here have experienced. That definitely includes me.

I'm sensing more of a complaint from you.

Why do you get your panties in a bunch when someone allegedly gets offended by something you didn't get offended by? Does THAT offend you?

I see nothing wrong with his language or even the wrinkled shirt. In fact I thought it rather refreshing that he could show up to a convention filled with a community of people he helped form and that he was able to just be himself rather than some corporate faceman.

I think the whole point of a convention like this is casualness, breaking down the corporate wall between those who make games and those who play them. It's quite obvious professionalism wasn't the point of last night.

Kripes... can we do away with all the overly sensitive "I'm so offended" BS...

I mean really all your overly precious unique snowflake children out there are exposed to far worse than some guy hitting it hard about a product he is passionate about.

We are raising a generation of over sensitive pussies...

Frankly I applaud the fact that he is breaking out of the "corporate suit guy" mold and actually talking to people how we all would talk to each other about something we feel strongly about.

    What are your other Hobbies?

Gaming is Dirt Cheap compared to this...

Bottom line: cussing like that is unprofessional.... even if the audience is drunk. But others and kids have access to that video at all times and will see and hear how not to act. Poor role modeling for a President of SOE.

So they want him to act more like a corporate type would?

I know there is a middle ground here, but I would rather untucked and wrinkled shirt over a suit every single time.  To me it says "I dont need to impress you with my appearance, because my game will do all the impressing needed".  To me it is confidence.
