I played a Ogre shaman in EQ1, was a blast and I loved my avatar but I have to say I like the new look way better. This coming from a guy who liked my butt scratching avatar. If you had not played EQ1 and you were given the option now of what style you liked, you know what you would pick.
Of course we want fat ogres! and fat dwarfs! more importantly though, get rid of the green shrek ogres, give them a human complexion with green snot like in eq1!!
No offense to rosie but she seems a bit out of touch with the mmorpg crowd, there are people who purposly want "ugly" characters, I know if im gonna roll a male char I don't want it to be some lame boyband looking pantsy.
Ogres are not supposed to be pretty, neither are trolls or iksars for that mather.
Overall theres no benefit to not offering a "fat" race, isnt the whole point of multiple races to give people a choice?
No offense but the concept art I've seen of the ogres so far look more like orcs the ogres.
I added my opinion to the Twitter thread. Some of my best characters have been far over to the brutish and ugly side. At least she is asking for input.
I have to agree with her. Sure it's nice to be able to make a fat, blundering, oaf, of a character but it's a niche want in an age where most players are far more casual and need to look cool to feel invested.
oh ffs why don't they just make extremely feminine male characters with emo haircuts as the only option then
I HATE when I cant make a gritty ugly character, especially if its not human.
Think bright wizards from WAR as what I want from a human character. Beat up and grizzled. I don't need estrogen infused character that are pretty. Perhaps it should be an option, but there should also be the option to beat your character with a barbed ugly stick at character creation.
For me its part of immersion, you don't go about mass murdering beasts and monsters without some scars and scratches.

Male characters are a niche aswell, just saying.
Id say its far cooler to play as a grim and ugly character with some nasty features then playing a pretty boy, I feel directly uncomfortable playing male chars in most mmo's these days because they honestly don't look male, they look girlish, and its freaking disturbing.
Given the plethora of race options, I don't think that you lose the "wanna be pretty" players by including some fat ugly races. The players who want to be attractive can play elves.
Players who want to be attractive ogres should probably just go ahead and eat a bag of poison for being so stupid.
ofc we want ugly dudes. so fekking tired of the girly men thats in every game. war was good at this, not much left to do at character creation tho but still.
Meanwhile there is a growing thread in the FFXV ARR beta forums asking for fat characters. This is a reoccuring thread ive seen in multiple MMOs over the years.
People just want to be able to make characters. and some people dont identify with the supermodel with the 6 pack abs and is super perfect in every way possible.
So the only way to really tell if players want fat characters is to add fat characters, there is no other way.

oh my God.. they hired a chick who rolled out of her hello kitty sheets and walked over to her malibu barbie desk to draw what she thinks the world likes. I'm a gamer chick and pretty pink and sparkly flowers in an mmo isn't my cup of fake tea(Mr snuggles wuggles might think so though)
I don't think anyone plays an ogre to look good. Really, players like that plays elves or humans, possibly even kerrans but ogres and trolls should look ugly and scary.
At least a slider would be nice, ogres are supposed to have a belly, no-one can call Shrek slim and he is probably the most popular ogre ever.
Im still baffled she seems to belive people want all races to be pretty, Honestly exactly what kinda people is it she thinks play mmos?
Newsflash, the majority of mmo gamers arnt female (Im sure theres quite a few of them don't get me wrong), we don't need firm male asses or sixpack abs and we also don't need the male faces that look like a proffesional make up artist did theyr makeup!
Infact Im gueesing most of us male gamers find that kinda character to be disturbing.
Wake up rosie, take a look at the dwarf beard poll, we don't want forced super model characters! We want the option to choose, so why the hell would you ruin ogres, trolls and other similar races?
Lord knows you got enough races that you can make feminine, so give the ogres and trolls to the guy with the sexy dwarf beard from the blackbox vid.
This is why race should matter in EQ Next. If you want to be a massive meat shield, you have to be an ogre rather than an elf. If gnomes and ogres have the same attributes then it's just wrong.
I don't know why it wouldn't occur to them that we want to be able to customize our characters from looking strong and lean, to dumb and fat like they're going too heavy on the ale.
I love the original ugly troll and ogre races from EQ1. Everything they made since just paled in comparison.

I think it would be fun, with the stipulation that the Dev attach physical limitation to body builds. So if you chose short you can jump high or run faster then say a taller player. Yet you can fit into areas where others would be limited. The opposite could be true and so on an so forth, etc... It could be very creative and fun for devs and open a whole new gameplay potential.

There is nothing cooler than a fat ogre whaling away with a giant axe and a tiny gnome with a shield tanking it.
LMAO, if there is one thing I loved about EQ is the tiny but sturdy dwarfs doing a barrel roll while tanking.
Your character should be able to be fat or tiny or whatever works for the race!

I want the character customization to be as diverse as possible...
With the man power and money SOE have, is it really to much to ask for fat, skinny, cute, ugly, muscular, funny, cool and all that for my character?
ofc we want ugly dudes. so fekking tired of the girly men thats in every game. war was good at this, not much left to do at character creation tho but still.

The bring back fat ogre and troll movement is definately picking up steam both on twitter and on reddit, keep it up!

Rosie, you are wrong (Have you noticed the fuss your Art-Style direction created these days?).
You already gave us Tony the Tiger, stop doing more damage pls.
MMO players like to play ugly and nasty characters............get a clue pls, before sinking EQNext to new depths.
I don't know why it wouldn't occur to them that we want to be able to customize our characters from looking strong and lean, to dumb and fat like they're going too heavy on the ale.

Ogres and trolls shouldnt be fat by default. EQ2 had a pretty damn good Troll imo, but the ogre kind of sucked.
However, there should be the option to make a fat ogre or troll.
The bigger question is, should a non-fat Halfling be possible? i vote no.
